unrequietedCat I do believe in destiny, but not in the cut and dry way it's usually percieved. I do not think that we arrive on this earth with our destinies preordained, but rather we are born with an infinite number of paths our spirits can take through life and that it is our own choices that create our so called destinies. I also believe that each path you choose to take is a way for us to be taught a particular lesson, something like an evolutionary step for your soul/spirit/whatever you want to call it. I also think that our spirit cycles through lives untill we've learned every lesson we need to know before we can be allowed to "move on" to whatever may be next. As hookey as it may sound to some. yup I believe the same. since my beliefs lean towards reincarnation I do think that we are born with certain lessons we need to learn within this incarnation. it's the way the spirit grows. however, as unrequietedcat said, there are many paths that you can take to reach that goal. in other words, one way or another... regardless the path... you will have to endure a trial where a lesson would be learned when that trial is completed.. hopefully. not everyone recognizes these trials for what they are and they are generally very hard (the most significant lessons, are the hardest to learn and there is a reason for that) and so dont learn or grow from the experience, and many have to repeat similar trials before they get it and can move on.

destiny is like um..those games where you pick what you do and you end up having a diffrent ending at the book and it's a CAVE ADVENTCHA!!! whee xd heart
But seriosly figure it like um.. when your born you start at the bottem and as you do crap your destiny and choices stem off into thousands upon millions of possible out comes like a really big root system or a tree. Except a few trails end and another begines because you die and then what happens after you die but eventually all the little destiny trails end and you have to die. The only thing you can do is determine how long your destiny will last and how it will end.
Only powerfull people can shape their own destinys.

well i don't believe in destiny i think our life is moulded by the decisions we make.....i don't think anything is written in stone, there's too many choices in life.

I do believe in some forms pre-ordained destiny. these are things the individual cannot control.. like being born with autism or some other disability. they are destined to deal with these impediments. but perhaps that is what we call 'fate'. some things we can change and some things we cant. so some forms of destiny are dependant on our thought processes (which most dont think they can change and dont see it as an aspect of destiny) and choices we make. so sometimes, we can form some of our own destinies.

You could either sit in a corner waiting for your destiny to come, OR take it in your own hands.
There is no such thing like a "masterplan" it is like a game between total selfcontrol or control by others. And you are the ball.
There are always things coming, where your success or failure depends on other people.

That's how I what as denstiny. There is a beginning and a end and that's it. WE chose what and it depends on us if we end up doing what we are supposed to do. And if not, then we just chose to have a different path. It's really just up to us for the most part.

i believe that we do have a destiny, but we can alter our true destiny based on what choices we make.

Peopele use destiny becuase they fear of not knowing what is coming it gives them comfort in thinking that when they die it was their time and had no control over what is happening... And thus leaving then content... In some cases people think that it is to early... And its not fair... But it is a topic that can be told in may different ways...

I could get in my car later and be in a serious accident which could screw up my long term plans indefinately. a powerful ruler could be over thrown. life contains too many variables for anything to be definate and secured.

I know that any one of us could die at any moment and I am always ready for it. I still have goals and i still live like i will be here for many ytears to come, but if i died right now, i would have no regrets.

Megus140 No, I do not believe in destiny. Everything has a reason. It all literally comes down to Chaos and Planck Time. For those of you who think of chaos as lack of order, you are correct. However, Chaos is also a chain reaction. Take a stone on a slanted cliff. When that stone falls, it connects with others, and soon, many stones may be rolling down that hill, throwing normal order and peace off course. Planck Time is more complicated. This measure of time is approximately ten to the negative, forty-third power seconds. Small things do count. I agree with Megus140. I don't think anything is predetermined. What happens in time is the direct result of what happens now. The actions of each moment determine what choices there are for the next moment. The difficulty is in defining a moment because infinity goes in both directions. Even Planck Time is not perfect, but it's about the smallest unit of time that we can conceive of.

i believe that there is a sort of 2 level system for destiny. i call the upper level Fate, and the lower level Destiny.
destiny can be affected by people, and that means both the person that that destiny involves, and other people, as well as to higher powers (if there are any). destiny is a sort of tendency. like guard rails, you will follow its path unless you actively work for something else.
fate is the absolute. fate can't be affected or viewed by anyone, not even higher powers (if there are any). it would be a sort of map of what will shows all the possibilities for every situation; every possible destiny, every possible variation of every possible situation. since fate is so absolute, the whole concept of it might as well be ignored.
this is all pure speculation, of course. but if you're going to speculate, you might as well make it interestingly detailed. sweatdrop
