Here we go, Full of Grace, Chapter One. Chapter two soon to follow.

Chapter One: A Frightening Power

Jean-Claude glanced down on the dance floor, his mind drifting with the current work at hand. He could hear her intoxicating laugh and smell her sweet scent. Dark hair fluttered as she spun, her dark dress illuminated by the lights of the club. Jason’s flaxen hair was a stark contrast to hers, as he spun, wrapping his arms back around her. She seemed to stop for a moment before glancing up at him, her dark eyes meeting his sapphire colored ones. She smiled before returning her focus on the werewolf in front of her.

“Jean-Claude?” The vampire was jolted from his small spell of enchantment by a soft voice. He turned back to the petite Asian vampire. Her long black hair was put up in chignon, her square silver rimmed glasses framing her dark eyes. She sat in her expensive business suit, her pen poised elegantly.

“Forgive me, I was distracted.” Jean-Claude bent his head slightly to the other beautiful Japanese girl in a black kimono. She quickly uttered something in Japanese causing her secretary to laugh softly.

“Aiko-sama says that she understands. The girl can be…quite a distraction.” Jean-Claude met Aiko’s dark eyes with ease.

“Aiko, why must you speak in Japanese while visiting here?” Aiko said something to her secretary. She nodded.

“Aiko-sama says that it is not safe enough for people to understand what she says for she could destroy the minds of the lesser vampires.” Jean-Claude nodded.

“I see…And of course, Yuki you must be…three hundred, four?” Yuki smiled slightly before bowing her head.

“Three hundred and eighty seven next month.” Aiko muttered something. Yuki looked alarmed before answering her. Aiko merely raised an eyebrow before going off into a flurry of Japanese, her tone scolding. Jean-Claude sat there, unaware what they were talking about, patiently awaiting Yuki’s translation. The younger vampire turned to face him, her amber colored eyes wide. Jean-Claude raised an elegant eyebrow in silent question, almost perfectly mirroring Aiko’s previous expression.

“Aiko-sama has requested to meet your human servent, if that would be ok. She believes that she is strong enough.” The French vampire watched his long time friend with question, taking in her calculating expression. Jean-Claude smiled, but it was simply for show.

“Oh course, Aiko. I believe Anita would be delighted to meet you.” Within the confines of his mind and that of his ma petite, he quickly spoke.

Ma petite, would you come up here? Anita glanced up at him, the swaying of hips never once coming off beat.

And why would I do that? Don’t you have business or something? Anita turned back to her partner, brushing off Jean-Claude’s “invite”, but he was not easily deterred.

It is imperative that you come greet our guest, Anita.

The necromancer cringed slightly, knowing that if he used her real name, that it was either important or dangerous. She sighed, pushing away from Jason who looked at her questioningly.

“Jean-Claude wants me to do the meet and greet with his business partners. I’ll be back soon.” She glanced at all the women who were watching the blond were, practically all drooling and/or swooning. The necromancer snorted.

“I doubt you wont find something to entertain yourself with.”

“Aww, Anita, your making me blush! Are you being jealous?” Anita looked him like had just about dyed his blond looks bright lilac.

"Yeah, Jason, have you been taking the pills we’ve been talking about?” Jason looked at his hands, really thinking about her question and counting on his fingers. He looked at her, ginning.

“Nope!” Anita rolled her eyes.
“Figures.” Ma petite, if you wouldn’t mind hurrying and this is not as you say “the meet and greet”.

Anita ran a hand through her hair, ignoring Jean-Claude and climbing up the stairs, taking her sweet time. When she did reach their VIP table, the woman in black mouthed a simple hello but caused Anita’s body to freeze on its own accord.

Her entire body stood at attention as a white hot fear spread between her shoulder blades. She felt the hairs on the back of her neck raise as goose bumps raced down her arms. Her hand went immediately for her Browning that was not there, fear controlling her.

Jean-Claude was up and behind her before she even blinked, wrapping his arms around her, cradling slightly. Anita did not understand why Jean-Claude had done this, perhaps to keep her from pulling her imaginary gun, but she felt her knees give out. She slumped forward, his arms the only things keeping her from falling to the floor. She was thankful to him or else everyone would have been given a cheap thrill since her dress was rather short.

Jean-Claude lifted her like she weighed absolutely nothing and set her next to him. Be still, ma petite, it is only a test. Anita glared first at the two Asian women before settling a death glare on her vampiric lover. A test? What the hell? You didn’t even warn me!

She pushed herself away from him, sitting up, shakily, but sitting up. The fact that Jean-Claude hadn’t warned her wasn’t why she was upset. Sure, that much power would scare anyone, but that wasn’t bothering her as much either. It was that fact that she hadn’t felt it at all.

Chapter two.

Chapter 2: She Has Risen

Aiko watched Anita carefully beneath her thick eyelashes, evaluating her. A small, approving smile formed on her thick, perfect lips, finding the necromancer at least adequate to her standards. She began to clap slowly and dramatically, a soft laugh escaping her lips. Anita whipped her glaring gaze from her undead lover to the undead queen. A shot of loathing went through her before it was placated by Jean-Claude’s soothing voice. Anita took a deep breath, steadying herself.
“Who the hell are you?” Jean-Claude looked quickly between his servant and his old friend.
“Ma petite, this is Aiko, Master Vampire of Tokyo.” At this Aiko slightly inclined her head in a sort of bow. Anita looked unimpressed.
“Yeah, that’s great and all, Jean-Claude, but what is she doing here?” Jean-Claude would have look horrified if it was not for his constant mask. Before he could answer though, a soft, feminine voice cut through the stifling awkwardness.
“I have simply come to…see Jean-Claude who is an…old friend of mine.”
“Old friend? How old?” Aiko glanced at Jean-Claude who sighed.
“Perhaps two and a half centuries.” Aiko nodded at Jean-Claude’s answer, obviously agreeing. It could have been Anita’s pure possessiveness when it came to Jean-Claude or her surprising jealously that made her speak out.
“So, what, you slept with him?” All of Jean-Claude’s willpower could not keep the shock off his face. Luckily, to save face, Aiko answered.
“No, no, he was,,,a dear friend to me when I visited France, long ago. Not as a consort, little one, but as a friend.” Anita seized up the master vampire, her dark eyes scanning not only her appearance but her metaphysical one as well. Finding nothing but a very scary amount of power, there was nothing else to fire her cautiousness, but that was always up.
“So, you’re visiting Jean-Claude. Okay, I get that, but what do you want with me?” Aiko laughed with mirth, her secretary following suite. Jean-Claude wrapped his arm around Anita in a comforting motion. From behind her delicately manicured hand, Aiko spoke.
“Oh, I see why you like her, Jean-Claude, so…impetuous.” Anita made a sour face before she was going to respond.
“You’re one to--”
She was suddenly cutoff with a soft roar. The necromancer could not grasp what was going on until Jean-Claude pulled her under the table as Aiko did the same with Yuki. It was then that Anita noticed the screams of patrons and the violent shaking of the club. Anita clung to Jean-Claude’s arm, who was whispering comforting to her. She had never experienced an earthquake this violently and she was suddenly claustrophobic in the club. Lights crashed onto the dance floor as tables overturned and fell off the two story balcony to the floor below. A soft scream escaped Anita’s mouth as a large light crashed inches from them. Jean-Claude pushed her deeper into the cradle of his arms, shielding her from the flying glass. Anita didn’t know much about earthquakes, but she knew they didn’t last this long. This wasn’t a normal earthquake.
“Jean-Claude!” Aiko’s voice startled both vampire and servant as she screamed over the constant falling debris. There was fear and anxiety laced throughout her face.
“She has risen.”

Here you go, finished chapter three!

Chapter Three: Increased Impact

Anita did not need to be told who “she” was; she could feel it. As the earthquake died down, she could feel the encroaching darkness enter the club, the very air she was breathing.

“Jean-Claude?” Her voice was rushed and fearful. The said vampire rested a hand on her head like one would do to a child, but it was absent and distracted. The vampires stood slowly, followed by one vampire and one human servant. Aiko’s face was grave as she watched Jean-Claude.

“It was as I feared. The Mother, Queen of us all, has risen.” She glanced at the running patrons as they
rushed for the exits.

“It is no longer safe for me here. I shall take my leave of you. I must get back and tend to my lands.” Jean-Claude nodded gravely.

“There is much to do to prepare for The Mother.” Aiko nodded crisply before she dragged Yuki with her out
of the club, her dark kimono flaring out behind her.

Anita stood shakily, her hand on Jean-Claude’s arm keeping her standing. Her breaths came out unmeasured and rapidly. She barely noticed that Jean-Claude had wrapped an arm around her waist and yelled out orders to the workers and servants. A hot white flame shot through her body, staggering her. Jean-Claude stopped mid-command, lifting her into his arms.

“Ma petite, what is wrong?” Anita shook her head, one hand to her chest. She pushed herself out of his arms standing shakily.

“No, no, I’ll be-” She cried out, her vision turning into white blindness. She fell to her knees, clutching her head. Jean-Claude was at her side in milliseconds. Anita curled onto her side, rolling into a ball. Jean-Claude’s cool hand on her shoulder chased away some of the pain. Her dark eyes stared helplessly into his sapphire ones. She mouthed one word and it was that was need for understanding. Ardeur.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Albeit Anita hated to be carried, she allowed Jean-Claude to carry her and run down to his office. Jason was there, waiting.

“Jason, go get the car.” Without arguing, the werewolf left. Anita cuddled in her vampire lover’s arms, trying very hard to keep out not only the hunger but a new, never before felt intense pain. Jean-Claude gently whispered to her in French, running a hand through her thick hair. Surprisingly, Jean-Claude’s cool touch did not feed the intense fire, but quench it and fight it. This did not feel like the ordinary, if it could ever be considered ordinary, ardeur. She quietly questioned him as to what this was, but ignored her questions, but simply kept contact with her. Jason ran through the office door, nodding to his master.

“Let’s go.” Jean-Claude rushed past his werewolf, Anita tightly packaged in his arms, letting no one touch her.

When they reached the car Jean-Claude was talking about, Anita almost let her jaw drop to the floor. It was a beautiful Euro Red BMW M5. Had Anita been of sound mind, she would have probably interrogated her vampire lover about the new addition and why wasn’t she informed. Jason skidded around the front of the car to the driver’s seat as Jean-Claude and his precious cargo loaded into the back of the racing car.

“Jason, drive to the Circus and break every speed limit you have to to get us there.” The were nodded, starting the car and revving the engine.

“Hold on to something.” Jason warned before slamming down on the gas pedal, pulling quickly away from the earthquake ridden club. As they sped down the highway, it was evident that the entire city had felt the earthquake.

“The entire world has felt it, Ma petite.” Anita did not have to ask how he knew what she had been thinking.

“The Mother of all darkness has arisen, thus, everyone has felt it. A global tremor if you will.” Anita nodded numbly, cuddling closer to him.

“What about the…” Jean-Claude sighed loudly, running a cool hand down her cheek.

“The Mother is mother of all, Ma petite. Therein her childrens’ powers are her own. Because she has just awoken, everything has gone…how do you say, haywire? Every power has increased tenfold, that is why the ardeur is so strong against you.” He glanced at her.

“You are taking this surprisingly well, Ma Petite.” She shook her head.

“No, I’m not. I’m still trying to get past the Mother’s awakening…” She glanced up at him, looking like a frightened child in his arms.

“Why isn’t this affect you?” Jean-Claude must have sighed for the umpteenth time that night. He tightened his arms around her.

“It is and it isn’t. The Mother can choose whom she wishes to inflict the most…power upon. She has been in contact with very few people in her sleep, but for those she had, her awakening is hitting them the hardest. You have seen her, Ma petite, she has spoken to you. She finds an…interest in you.” They sat in silence but it wasn’t as uncomfortable as one would think it would have been. Jason oddly remained quiet the entire time.

By the time they had reached the Circus, the ardeur had died down to a level that was manageable. As the walked into the Circus, hand in hand, Jean-Claude smiled at her, but the smile was a frightened one.

“I would not be surprised if she sent for you…Ma petite.”

If I'm on time...

---- No Title ----

The spell was cast with no words needing be spoken. Long glances, casual touches and the occassional smile were all that were wanted and given freely.
The observer had gone unnoticed upon arrival, just as they knew they would go unnoticed if they left. But they lingered, watching with amusement and a growing relief before panicking quietly as footsteps reached their ears.

Jason intercepted Anita before she so much as brushed aside a curtain and caught her arm to silently persuade her to back up to the steps. Ignoring the sputtering protests, he led her to a room apart and smiled cheerily as he explained that Jean Claude was busy and wasn't in the mood for interruptions, politely ignoring the dark looks Anita was throwing as she heard the lies for what they were.
Jason's only thought being that maybe now, after however many years, Jean Claude and Asher had finally just kissed and made up.

---- Finish ----

Hope I'm on time for this entry. smile

Well it is officially time for everyone to vote. I decided not to put this into poll format, because I was afraid people might just vote without even reading all the entries. That may still happen, but I hope not. There are only 4 entries so please read all the entries before voting.

Here is the official list of entries:

1. "Hiku" by Bunnietenou
2. "Anita" by Bunnietenou
3. "Full of Grace" by tankbbg
4. "No Title" by FenrisVollmond

Remember, voting is from today through November 30, 2004. You may only vote once. Please remember to put who you are voting for and the title in your post. Thanks. Good luck everyone. biggrin Thanks for the great entries.

I put Bunnietenou's posts as separate entries because they were distinct separate writing pieces, but I listed all three of tankbbg's together in one entry because they were all chapters of the same continuous story. If this is not how you two wanted your posts to be listed, please let me know and I will try to make the necessary changes.

Nothing in the rules say you can't vote for yourself. The rules just say each member can only vote once. So use your vote however you see fit.
