I've marched in snow, and I've marched in sleet. I think the sleet was worse. I remember one practice when it was so cold, the GUYS were practically sobbing.

I'm having a hard time deciding between these two:
State Fair, Pueblo, CO, August 2003. 100+ degrees, plus our band was wearing our traditional Scottish 100% wool uniforms.
New Year's Day Parade, London, Eng, Jan 2003. It's London. In January. Need I say more? Lotsa wind, intermittent rain, and just flat-out cold.

There was this one time when it was pouring and the field was all muddy, but we didn't have to march, we just played our halftime in concert set. We haven't really marched in any bad weather yet, thankfully.

the worst competition I attended recently was the state competition and i was helping the pit crew and we got to the Hoosier Dome's docking bay 30 minutes early and we had to stand outside in pouring down rain. it was so bad that even with everyone wearing ponchos, we still got wet. my legs got SOAKED, my socks were DRENCHED, and my shoes were starting to get suishy. the pit members themselves were no better off and i was so close to rioting it was even funny. after the competition was over, i went back to the van with my family and pulled on my dad's spare change of clothes. the worst part of it all was that i fit comfortably into his jeans. AAAAACK!!! I'M ONLY A SIZE 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've gotta lose weight...Bump! a small black cat looks up at you innocently 'mew?' *scooping up the black cat in her arms and cradles it like a baby "It's alright Tibo, all the new people have him really worried"

The worst conditions i have ever played in was probably during the game today. xd It didn't really rain but it rained the day before that and it made everything all muddy.Well we played pretty well excepte for the clarinets players were scared to step on the mud.After that i got my foot stuck to the mud ( lucky for me i double knotted my shoelaces) and i almost fell! xd

We've had to march in freezing rain before... It was a off and on rain during the first half of the game, so woodwind just put there instruments up. It wasn't raining at half time so we got down ready to march, and soon as we stepped on the field, it started raining... hard... Wasn't astro-turf either, so I almost fell like 3 different times from the mud... >.>
We've marched in the rain 3 times now. Hated it all, except last time when we did march on asto-turf... I love that stuff. :3

At MSBA championships yesterday, miraculously it was not cold or rainy, but the wind was awful. We march with square tarps on the field (painted as elements from the Periodic Table) and every time someone tripped on one the wind caught it and rippled it up, making it more of a hazard than before. One guard girl reportedly fell and got wrapped up in a tarp like a burrito, and a flute was hit in the face by a flag the wind had caught. At finals that night, they decided not to judge us, and the bands did a "festival" standstill type of thing, where we just stood on the track and played our show.

Last day of band camp after it rained the whole week. Seriously I was up to my ankles in mud at some points.
Heh.. we tripped our section leader and she got a face full of mud right after yelling at us for "talking while shes teaching".

I haven't had horrible conditions. There was that one day that it was pouring rain and the field was muddy...And my shoes have NO grips whatsoever. I was all slidy and such. No one was in the stands, so it's not like anyone cared anyways. ^_^!
My sister has marched in far worse, though. She was in the band last year, and they marched in the Memorial Day Parade. It was 90 degrees out, and our outfits are 100% wool. 8 kids passed out, and there was an ambulene waiting for more kids to pass out. O_O;

My freshmen or sophomore year, we had a competition at Ben Davis and it had been pouring down rain all morning long. it finally stopped when the competition started...it was awful, kids marched right out of their shoes, slippin' and slidin' everywhere, mud all over our uniforms...
