I think what he's trying to say is it'd be like this:
Say you're doing a 4 man stock match, you have 4 lives, but each life you have is a different character, sort of like the All Stars event matches, except you don't change stages.
Each stock would be a different character and that would be cool. It could even be an event if they keep that from Melee. Where you make you're team and then go fighting in All-star or something.
