Kylie's head simply bobbed along with Gabriel's words as he explained his reasoning behind the touring. The atmosphere was oddly dark, the eerily-colored candles casting multiple, distorted shadows. "That makes sense. Tours are a bit useless, at least in my opinion, unless you're looking for some place specific, which I'm not," she said, realizing how his hand tickled upon contact. The young woman followed after her host when he strayed aside, keeping with his pace and smiling to herself at the same time. The smile was a gentle one, one of simple excitement. The was going to be so exciting!
The lady considered asking how the lights had become so mystic, but she figured it would ruin it. Science could find a way, perhaps, but everything seemed beyond the bounds of science now. It was when the music started that her grin broadened and she pepped up. "Perfect timing," she commented, glee showing through. The tune sounded somewhat familiar, just like every other tune she seemed to hear, and as she listened to the carefully woven notes, she identified the key signature and timing.
When they arrived into the impressive ball room, she couldn't contain herself any longer. "Oh, Gabriel, this is great!" she said, having to restrain herself from squealing. Seriousness was no matter now. Actually, that ideal had disappeared a long time ago. Throwing her arms out, the woman broke away from her host and spun around once, dress twirling around her as she did so. When she came to a stop, a sheepish smile had formed on her lips.
"This is wonderful, actually. Perfect." She gestured towards the group of couches as if she weren't a few feet away from him. "Knowing these people, that area is useful, and you have a variety of foods, the lighting sets the mood... this room is perfect." Looking around with wonder, Kylie took a few steps back in his direction, arriving just after he finished his final statement.
"More people? Already? This means we can actually party now!" Her head tilted to one side for a moment, then a voice caught her attention. Turning to the guest with a slight, embarrassed blush- Oh, God, I hope she didn't see that...- she looked her up and down once and broke out into a smile. The shape was familiar, as was the voice, though not as familiar as others- Kylie did realize, however, that this was Rin. Giving her a little wave and a friendly smile, she beckoned her over. "Gabriel and I were just talking about other arrivals!" she projected, suddenly feeling very outgoing and hyped.

Luckily, in perhaps seconds before the girl was at the side of the nameless familiarity, another figured appeared. This one, she knew she could put a name to, for this friend was one whose named she had said too often to forget.
Thus, said name spouted from her grateful smile like an often rehearsed lulliby would pass through a mother's lips, "Rin!"
Being quite rude and completely ignoring the man who she had previously been catching up to, Jayme took a detour and chased after the girl who was all too familiar. She had almost caught up to her friend when, clumsy as she was, her toe caught a snag and she was sent stumbling forward. A slight cry was released when this was executed, hands flying out instinctively before her as the youth got a closer intimacy than she would have wished with the ground beneath her. It was only as she was carefully rising and brushing herself off that the female got the chance to actually see the manor in which she was about to enter.
"My God..." The prayer was more a contribution to the whispering gale which then swept by than an actual expression of the awe that was summoned when those ocean blue eyes first swept over the exterior of the complex.
Not necessarily coming from humble roots, Jayme was nonetheless amazed by the magnificence of the structure. It was larger than any home she had ever lived in, and seemed closer to one of the castles she had visited during her stay in England than an actual house. Half expecting a dragon to rear its head around the corner, the young woman stood still as sapphire spheres analyzed and cross-examined the walls. It was a minute or so before she could properly grasp the reins of reality once more, the uncontrollable carraige that was life now dragging her back into the present.
What was it she was going to go do?
Rin.
With that thought flickering back into her mind, the girl tried to remember which way her companion had gone, hearing the slightest sound which resembled a doorbell in the distance. Figuring that towards said sound was the best place to start, the patting of her feet against the ground echoed like a rumor across the area. Approaching the intimidating doors, her thoughts were confirmed when she smelled the slightest hint of her friend's scent. Perhaps that sounded a bit creepy, but her sense of smell had always been one of her strongest.
"Rin?" A voice like celebrating church bells exploded awkwardly into the silence, interrupting the beauty and majesty of the entrance of the building which paled the usual appeal of her voice.
Looking around, the balanced glory of the room brought conflict to the woman as she suddenly felt very small and very ugly compared to such perfection. She couldn't quite decide which was more breath-taking: The inside, or the outside, of the building. Settling on the compromise that she could wait until she had explored the entirety of both before making up her mind, Jayme tried to follow the far-off footsteps that she could just make out.
But this, unfortunately, did not last long: The sounds were soon unreadable under the intrusion of a soft hum of music. The melody was to her ears what milk chocolate was to her tongue.. delicious, addictive, and leaving a hunger for more once the piece had been devoured and done with. It drew Jayme forward with a lover's beckoning seduction, her thoughts of following Rin pushed to the back of her mind. She had always loved music, dancing, the arts.. and anything related. But this was different; this haunting tune was more than just music. It was pure beauty.
So the youth didn't quite realize it at first when she stumbled upon Gabriel and their company, eyes distant and face emotionless as she literally walked straight into Rin. Still half-dazed when she looked up into her friend's face, it took a moment for her to process where exactly it was that she had wandered into.
A brilliant flush of rosy hues exploding onto her cheeks, Jayme made a clumsy, hasty bow "Oh, I'm so sorry! I was just.. enjoying the music. Please, forgive my intrusion!"

Rin grinned happily at Kylie's greeting. "I hope the others arrive soon..." She began walking towards the pair as she admired the decorations around the room. My, Gabriel certainly spared no expense to make this place absolutely gorgeous. The atmosphere was stunning, and the music added to it splendidly. She could smell the food and it made her mouth water, but she restrained herself from reaching out and trying one of the delectable little cakes close by; she loved sweets.
Kylie's dress was beautiful; Rin had never seen anything like it. She looked excited, and Rin was looking forward to getting to know her and others much better. Tonight's setting was perfect to deepen, strengthen, and make friendships. Gabriel, their host, was as smart as usual, in distinguished-looking formalwear.
All of a sudden, before she could let her thoughts drift further, someone bumped into her back. Startled, she turned around to find a blushing Jayme. At her flustered apology, Rin pulled her into a tight hug, giggling. "Silly, we don't have to be so formal with each other! The atmosphere may be, but we aren't. Don't even worry about it. If I were you, I'd have bumped into someone too!" Releasing her, she held her loosely by the shoulders and admired her garb. The silky, form-fitting black dress was complimented by her friend's sandy sunshine hair, arranged in a fashionably loose, casual bun. "You look amazing~! Let's go visit with Kylie and Gabriel while waiting for the others!"
Clasping Jayme's hand in hers, she walked hand-in-hand with her towards the waiting pair.

As the baffled and quite embarrassed latecomer was coming up from her bow, she suddenly found herself in the arms of a quite beautiful Rin. As the fire of her cheeks slowly were smothered by relief, a sigh escaped the glossed lips of the girl as she tried to return the embrace, glad that Rin was Rin. Warmth seemed to fill the emptiness where the feeling of insignifigance, brought on by the majesty of the building, had been as Jayme buried her cheek in her friend's shoulder.
When her friend ended the hug and ran an eye over her choice of wardrobe, another rosy flush bloomed over Jayme's cheeks. She was certain.. she must look like a mess, her hair a messy tangle and missing shoes. She was slightly surprised when her friend said she looked amazing, conjuring another blush.
As she found herself being taken across the floor, those sky blue eyes swept over Rin and felt butterflies instantly beginning to swarm in her stomach. She was more than beautiful, out-doing any grace the house could possibly have. Rin was gorgeous.
"Rin?" Jayme said carefully, biting her lower lip as she started to slow, "Can I ask you a question?"
Oh, gosh. How was she going to ask this? Tendrils of regret began crawling up her throat, restricting any words that could possibly escape. But she knew it's what she'd wanted to do.. for a long time, really. It was now or never, after all, and now seemed to be the perfect time. After all, where could fear get you in life?

Rin felt Jayme slowing her pace and withdrawing, so she stopped, and turned to face her with a questioning look. Jayme looked unbelievably nervous, biting her lower lip as she spoke. Rin's eyes widened, worrying something bad might have happened, but what could have in these few minutes?
"Go ahead! What is it?" Rin was puzzled as to her friend's nervousness and looked earnestly into her eyes.

Does Rin look.. worried?
Suddenly finding the inability to speak choking her carefully chosen words, Jayme muttered an "uh" and that was all to be said. Clearing her throat as her sapphire eyes tried to match gazes with the gorgeous woman in front of her, perhaps trying to find comfort in the warmth that had always drawn Jayme so strongly to her, she searched again for the words so carefully buried by her hesitation. Realizing that she was still holding Rin's hand, another wave of rosy pink washed over her cheeks as she nodded to herself and took her friend's hand in her own.
"Rin, would you like to be my date?" The words were strong and sure, relief spreading through her like a sedative as she heard the certainty in her own voice.
Now she only had to hope that Rin wasn't already here with someone else.. looking like she did, Jayme wouldn't have been surprised. But more than that, she had to hope that she wouldn't be turned down....

As soon as the words excaped Jayme's mouth, a flush of joy spread through Rin. Squeezing Jayme's hand excitedly, eyes shining, her lips parted in a huge smile, "Of course I would! You're the first to ask; I would love to be your date." She was so happy that Jayme had asked; she'd felt a little nervous coming to the ball alone, feeling like everyone had already found themselves a date but her. Her friend was looking less nervous, and Rin was glad. She didn't want anything to feel awkward or forced. Tonight was for friendship and fun, and it would certainly be!
Though small in stature, Rin energetically pulled Jayme into a tight hug. "Don't you ever be nervous for the rest of tonight! You're gorgeous, and nobody will think otherwise~" <3

Unbelievable.
It was simply a dream, and soon Jayme would wake up so she could get ready to go to the ball. She would put on just a slight shade of blush and some fancy perfume, maybe some eyeshadow.. because this wasn't real. It couldn't be. This was too perfect to be real, wasn't it?
Yet as the girl felt arms wrap around her, looking down to find that it really was Rin and that this world was indeed reality, all self-doubt seemed to erode with each thud of her heart as it jumped anxiously in her chest, each beat of the butterfly wings in her stomach. Smiling warmly, her arm slowly moved to return her date's hug. This time, it seemed, her evening was not going to be ruined.
"Thank you, Rin." Jayme's smile becoming sheepish at Rin's last comment, she released the embrace and looked into her friend's eyes, "Let's go meet with Gabriel and the others so we can get this party started!"
Giggling happily, it was now she who took the other female's hand as she began to cross the floor. Feeling dramatically more enthusiastic and sociable, she was eager to begin the festivities so she could enjoy her time with the gorgeous woman whom she was towing across the room. She wanted to spend her one night of glamor the best she can, with the people she loved most, and she was going to make the best of it.. even if it meant falling flat on her face once or twice. That was pain she was willing to endure.

Stopping on the corner, Rose pulled the directions out of her pocket once again, triple checking the house number. Looking up at the nearest house she found she wasn't so far away now. Continuing a little farther down the sidewalk, she counted off each house, finally reaching the one a little further from the rest at the end of the street. Grand and magnificent, Rose stopped and craned her neck upwards to take in the tall towers and gargoyles atop the roof.
“Oh wow…” She murmured, mouth remaining partly agape as she took it all in. This was the kind of house she’d always dreamed of living in. Something large and imposing and utterly gorgeous to all that view it. Shutting her mouth and bringing her gaze down slightly, she took in the rest of the house (could you call it a house? That seemed so… peasant like), admiring the Gothic architecture. She had an affinity for strange and unusual architecture, but of course, never ever had a camera on her when she saw any. Those Gothic spires would just have to be memorized.
Slipping through the partially opened gate from the other guests that had already entered, she started up the walk to the equally impressive front door. That was when she noticed the teen, standing a bit to the side of the wrap-around porch steps, looking at some part of the house or garden. She tilted her head to the side, moving up behind him, knowing distinctly who it was. Tapping on the much higher shoulder, she tried to get his attention.
“Alex? Are you all right? Why haven’t you gone in already? Surely some of the others must be here by now…” She trailed off, moving to stand more in his direct line of sight. Carefully styled Mohawk, gentle features, carefully put together wardrobe, yet not over done… yes, this was her friend. He was the reason she was even here in the first place, having introduced her to Koiji. She waited for him to snap out of his admiration of Gabriel’s house and notice her. She didn’t like being ignored when in plain sight of the other person.
It was a tad annoying.

Quite the interesting place. Alex thought, lost in his own little world. He had said hello to Jayme, before she rushed off to talk to Rin. Hearing someone speak behind him and being tapped on the shoulder, he snapped out of his daze. Just as he was about to turn around, the person that the voice belonged to moved beside him. Turning slightly, he instantly recognized the person.
"Hey Rose. I'm doing quite fine, what about yourself?" he said, initiating a conversation with Rose as he had done countless other times. Well, it's good that she's here. I haven't seen her in a while. Alex thought.
Moving slightly to the side to let her by, Alex gestured to the front doors. "Let's go inside and join the party, shall we?" Alex said, his voice having a happy tone to it. Tonight was perfect timing for him. He really needed to slow down. It surely had been a long time since he had sat down with friends and relaxed.

Rose gave him a strange look. Didn't hear a word I said...
"Just fine, Alex," She responded, walking by him a little so they could approach the doors together. It had been a while since they had been able to just relax together, each of them always so busy with one thing or another. "It seemed you were lost in thought back there, did you see anyone else arrive?" She asked, climbing the steps. She paused slightly, waiting for his answer and reading over the note left by the door.
"Oh, just let ourselves in? Alright..." She didn't really like doing that - just walking into people's houses, it wasn't like her friends where she could let herself in and prowl around till she found said friend. Then again, Gabriel was her friend, was he not? She laughed softly to herself, shaking herself out of her thoughts. Reaching out, she pushed open one of the heavy doors, opening it onto a dark hallway. Catching the sheen of marble floors, she was eager to get inside and see how grand the inside of the house was compared to the outside.
Looking over her shoulder to make sure Alex was still with her, she pushed the door open wider, "Come on, let's go find Gabriel." She said, excitement shooting through her again.

"I'm glad the décor is to your liking. It took me a while to get everything exactly the way I wanted it, but it was definitely worth it in the end -- or so your reaction tells me, anyway." Gabriel remarked with yet another small smile.
His eyes flashed in the dim lighting, an ever-so slight glow of amusement catching the oddly colored irises. They were hazel, yes, though both of different designs. While his left spiked out with light brown in the emerald, the right sphere's chestnut curved gently in a snakeskin pattern amidst a lighter green.
Quite the spectacle to look at, though dangerous to stare for too long.
Blinking suddenly, as though a sudden thought had just invaded a contemplative mind, the young man tilted his head at the slightly reddened Kylie. A flicker of an idea had passed, almost unnoticed. Absurd, it seemed, but after all, it was a formal ball.
I suppose...Couldn't hurt to ask, at least.
"Hey, Kylie?" he found himself starting, not a quaver in the silky, calm voice. "Would you do me the honor of--"
But at that moment, a memory took over his hearing, as well as the young woman he'd been adressing's attention. Although things were happening a bit faster than he'd originally anticipated, the dark youth grinned in welcome as, one by one, his cherished friends arrived at his home.
First to enter the room was Rin, one he'd known for quite some time, and had grown to be a dear friend of his in the past months. Even if they hadn't spoken for a while, he suspected that they were still as close as ever. She looked magnificent in her pearl gown, the form-fitting silk emphasizing her wonderous features.
"Simply lovely, as always, Rin." the host spoke in a friendly tone, switching to a more classic voice as he continued. "I bid thee welcome to my humble abode, and my first -- of a hopeful many -- ball."
Before he could go on, yet another recognized face waltzed through the entrance to the ball room. This time, it was one that made Gabriel laugh lightly, for it was none other than his age-old friend Jayme. Her more than any other he could recognize in a crowd. Seldom had there been a day that she'd not been present in, though that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Her pesence was one that could be appreciated and relaxed in; the occasional amusement caused by a silly action livening up any conversation while she was around.
It was when Jayme ran into Rin, though, that Gabriel's chuckle escaped from his lips. "Oh Jayme, just like you..."
Shaking an amused head with a smile still adoring his lips, the winged host -- though whose wings were still hidden beneath the flowing cape -- blinked once again as his keen ears picked up on the soft conversation between the two women. Now smirking rather bemusedly, question to Kylie forgotten, he waited silently as the two made their way over, sensing the other two arrivals had only a few mere moments before entering the same room.

Kylie stayed quiet during Gabriel's commentary, nodding a little as she gazed over at the various people that had trickled in in such a small amount of time. When he began his question, however, she snapped to attention and her intense gaze was focused on him instead. When Rin unknowingly interrupted their small interaction, the young lady listened with a small smile, though there was a small, ever-nagging thought in the back of her mind that came of unfinished business. She didn't dare to hope, or to even really consider, but if he wanted a favor, she was willing to do anything within her power. She owed him, after all. And they were friends. That, too.
When the two women who entered collided, though, a giggle slipped through Kylie's lips. That was Jayme, as Gabriel had confirmed, and, as he had commented, that seemed just the thing she would do. As the Latina quickly examined them without quite noticing it, she realized that it would take a few minutes to completely warm up to the two. Then again, in the mood she was in, the process would probably be sped up at least a bit. She felt like bouncing, twirling, and most of all, dancing to the surreal tones that drifted through the ballroom. This whole place was a lot like a lucid dream, if she were to be completely honest with anyone who cared to ask.
Kylie watched their approach, and in the sudden realization, she faced Gabriel once more, not wishing to miss the chance. Who knew when the subject could be brought up again with ease? "Were you going to finish, Gabriel?" she asked softly and with a slightly teasing demeanor, not quite looking at him, but at the approaching figures. The soft movement of their lips betrayed their conversation and Kylie automatically began to translate, though stopped herself. Thinking too hard in this state might be dangerous, she pondered in a light, fluffy tone, smiling a little as she did so. Waiting for her host's answer, the girl's nearly blackened eyes were not filled with high expectations, but were, indeed, filled with... something.

Blinking distractedly, as if coming back from his own little world, the ball's host turned his full attention back to the young woman who'd first arrived. After a moment of confused thoughts, Gabriel's expression changed to one of successful recollection, or rather, one of calm knowing.
"Ah yes. I apologize; it seems that the excitement of the new arrivals distracted me for a moment." came his fluid voice, accompanied soon after by a polite half-bow.
Turning to face Kylie with a slightly more serious tone, his lips parted to mimic his earlier unfinished inquiry, though this time with a bit more sureness in his voice.
"Kylie? Would you do me the honor of being my companion for the remainder of this evening? I believe the proper term is "Date", but I never really did like it much." he asked softly, adding in smoothly afterward, "That is, of course, if you haven't already agreed to go with another." A small smile accompanied his last statement.
An odd feeling, it was. Having never had the opportunity to go to a formal event such as this, the dark youth hadn't ever asked another to be his "Date" before. Even as his tongue formed the word, though, he nearly grimaced.
'What a disgusting term...' he thought as he waited for Kylie's response, eyes never leaving her own, as he always held eye contact with whomever he was adressing.

After murmuring an "oh, it's fine", Kylie slowly absorbed what Gabriel had to say. The young woman's dark eyelashes fluttered for a few moments, taken aback in a most bemusedly flattered way, before she began smiling in return. After realizing completely the invitation, her grin reached its fullest state and her eyes glimmered. In truth, she had always been the one to incite any thing with any male; they all seemed to avoid direct interaction for some reason. This was definitely a nice change.
The dark-haired woman inclined her head as she replied, "It would be my honor, Gabriel, to accompany you. I have not been asked by another, no, but I'm sure men will simply be flocking once they arrive..." She laughed a little, twinkle in her eye. "Oh, I'm joking, but yes. That would be grand." After a moment of thought, she continued with, "Date is a bit of a crude term, isn't it? You'd think the world would have a more elegant word for it by now." Tearing her eyes away from his, she was surprised to find that she was taken by dizziness for a fleeting moment. Blinking to regain her senses, she glanced, slightly puzzled, at the two women approaching. Of course, on the inside, she had broken away to conceal her overflowing glee.
Such curious eyes... The thought struck Kylie a little suddenly. With this abrupt insert, she briefly remembering a famous quote from a French poet whom she couldn't quite place. If his eyes were so-called windows to the soul, what had she seen in their oddly-constructed depths? Turning her gaze back onto his, she was glad to find herself relaxed and actually enjoying herself.
