SaxesRule I gots a question for you all. I was wonder what made you want to start color guard? I was just curiouse because there are many defrent reasons. I started guard because it encorperates dance. What made you want to start? I thought that is was awesome. I played the clarinet in 8th grade and have been in guard ever since. I did Winterguard that year. And it's been 6 years.

well, both my older sisters were in marching band (one was clarinet, other was originaly clarinet but switched to guard) so i was always going to the show, and i thought it looked really cool. so i figured i play an instrument in the marching band. like it was as definite as blinking. so then i got my trumpet, but after a few years i realized i sucked and couldn't memorize music. so then at one show i was looking at the girls spinning flags and dancing around ect ect, and i was like, mom wut's that? and she's like "colorguard" and i'm like me join.

When i was little my brother was in the band and i would always hang around the band. I loved half time shows, and I loved to watch they're after school. My favorite part was watching all the amazing tricks, tosses, catches, dances, and ruttiens that they would preform. I loved the different uniforms they had as well. The guard director at the time gave me a swing flag (which back then was like a normal sized flag to me) for me to practice with. I loved it so much that when I got into high school and was able to tryout for guard, I tried out. And I love it. I'll never go back to marching band.

When my older brother first joined Marching Band, he told me that he could see me doing color guard, since I did dance for a million years before. Then it came to the summer before his senior year, and I was going to be starting high school, at his school, in the fall, and he was telling my mom that they desperately needed more people in Guard. And my mom wanted me to do SOME kind of activity outside of schoolwork, so they both encouraged me to join color guard. Best choice I was semi-forced to make.

xXxSasaraxXx My sister got converted to join when her friend joined for flute. I saw her at football games (she was a freshman- I was a seventh grader). I just fell in love with the flag. I was really outta shape, and it was just something fun to do. In Pemberton, they allow the eighth graders to join the band. They needed to percussionists, so I had to join the pit. however, when Pemberton's first generation Winterguard came around, i totally joined in a heartbeat. BALLAD BUDDY!!!!!! I thought that story sounded familiar, then the whole Pemberton thing just put the icinv on the cake...that i want now. XD I joined the end of eighth for pretty colors, haha. I was so easily distracted...aaannnddd still am. But everyone I joined with quit =[ I got one to stay this year though so I'm pretty happy.

I play seven instruments and was going to march with one of them, but then a friend of mine dared me to try out for guard because she didn't think I could make it . I showed her. Three years later I am still coming back for more... ~ heart

my first year with the marching band (the summer befor 8th grade, got in early because i know people xd ) i did honor guard, and hated it. i became friends with some of the guard people, one of them was my friend's sister, the colorguard captain (who was almost like a roll model except for her being a prep). after that summer i found out about a chance to do winterguard (first time in my school's history of trying one, and ended abruptly due to lack of people who quit because of injuries/schedule conflicts) and me and my friend Brian (the one who got me on the honor guard and brother of the guard captain) said he and i should try it (though he dropped out because he was afraid people would think he was gay), and i fell in love. the next summer i went to the colorguard practices and wound up missing band camp due to a vacation so it was back to honorguard. and this last summer season i finally got on the guard and its been the greatest thing in my life so far blaugh
