Yay! Great way to start!

Anime is hard to find to rent though, so you'll probably have to go to an electronic or movie store to find it. Of course there are other ways to find it (cough*cough*azureus*cough*cough) but your best bet is still probably like a Best Buy or Suncoast.

We don't have those stores here, but I'll locate it somewhere...

I might even try ebay!

I just watched my first anime! Do any of you guys know a series called Lain? I couldn't get hold of any of the ones you had mentioned at the video store, and was reluctant to buy them when I wasn't sure if I'd like them....

Unfortunately, I've only seen the first few episodes of Lain... which is sort of silly, since my sister owns all of it. sweatdrop Just never got around to seeing the rest.

It's was a fairly popular series when it was first released here, although I've told that it gets rather existential and, well, weird at the end. Neon Genesis Evangelion is rather similar, starts out as a fairly standard high school, giant robot anime, complete with hilarious fan-service moments (and entire episodes), and ends on a somewhat depressing religious world-ending note. But don't get me wrong, it's still one of the best anime series out there, you just actually have to THINK at the end and that tends to fry a lot of people's brains. lol

About renting anime, you might try something like Netflix. I've been told that they carry quite a few anime and foreign titles now. Although I've also been told that there are similar services that focus on foreign movies, so you'd probably have a good bet of finding any anime on a site like that, but you wouldn't be able to rent any American movies at the same time.

Thanks! I'm not sure if we have netflix in Australia, but there has to be some kind of equivalent, I'll have to have a bit of a look...

I quite liked the storylines in Lain, but I found it a bit slow moving...

Yeah, I'm afraid that's why I stopped watching... There are many more exciting titles to spend my time on. lol I have a soft spot for dark/horror titles, and I think Boogiepop Phantom distracted me from Lain.

lol technically anime can be sent over the internet, depending on the file size.

ie: the average mailbox can hold 200 mb of information. The average anime file is 170 mb. I've tried this. It works in most cases.

There's also a wicked combo that involves, a cd burner, about 250 blank cd's, and the postal service. My sister still has about 11 straight days of anime to watch...

Again, I'm an anime geek, but everybody has geeky things about themselves.

I don't have a dvd burner, so I haven't tried doing it that way..I guess I could just sit in front of my computer watching them, but it's not as comfy!

I used to be really into Anime and Manga about 10 years ago, but I've been losing my love for it recently. Hoardes of rabid teens interjecting Japanese into their conversations and acting like idiots in general have ruined it for me. sweatdrop Really sucked the joy out of it for me and I started to associate it with a lack of common sense and intelligence.

But no matter what, I still love Sailor Moon and Dragon Half and probably always will. heart Both the manga and the anime for those.

I didn't keep a lot of my anime but I still own Sailor Moon, Magic Knight Rayearth, Dragon Half, Vampire Princess Miyu, my Miyazaki films, Witch Hunter Robin, and I think that's it...
