Priss.S.Asagiri Has anyone else felt a little out of place around Gaia. The other day I had someone start talking to me about random things. The more I talked to her the more I had to explain meanings of things. I started getting the feeling that I was talking to a young teenager so I ask how old she was.....she was 10. I'm more than twice her age. It just got me feeling really old. I guest we'll just count that as a bad day, just wondering if anyone else has had a day like that. I feel that way when the drama starts. but I have so much in common with the "younger set" that I dont think aobut the age diff often. I love anime, cartoons, video games...as most all of us toiling around gaia do. I just try not to make age apart of it.

I always tell my age right up front so there's not going to be problem. I am called Granny by everyone that knows me. The kids make me feel younger. I can usually hold a fairly decent conversation with them. I, too, am young at heart. I play games and watch some cartoons....I think we call them animes these days. I live alone, so there's not much to do after work and house cleaning. Gaiaonline keeps me out of the bars. LOL

Sometimes I feel old cause 13 yearolds is what I run into alot, when I tell them I have a son and am married they go Wow!
They treat me as though I cant have fun doing this because I should be doing more mature things. I have nothing against them, but doesnt mean I cant feel old.
Long story short:
This one kid pmed me and I told him I had a son and his age and he replyed "how old is your lil bro?"
I was like omg he is my son NOT my my lil bro, come on read it right.
Its like they cant fathom life after there teens.
Dont get me wrong I have friends on here that are 13 but geez, I had to vent.

I definately feel out of place here a lot. But sometimes it brings out the kid/young adult in me xd

Hello from the new guy.
Sometimes I feel out of place on gaia, yes, and other times I really don't. I have the soul of a 13 year old, and I don't think that will ever change, even when I'm in a rocker yelling at kids to get off the lawn.
It's when I venture into certain areas and hit all the young teen drama that I feel old.

But I was talking to some kid the other day who when they found uut my age called me a pervert and walked away. Things like that ruin the gaia experience for me, and I'm not even really that old, I think. Thanks for letting me in the guild.

Ishimaru_Taiki Never.... smile Silly Rabbit, GAIA's not just for kids... thats my phrase! i call people silly rabbit!!!! lol but yes it actually had crossed my mind.. my hubby's normally the jealous type and wants to know who im talking to all the time.. but he doesn't even care when he knows I'm on Gaia cuz he knows most everyone's like 10.. I even have a 9 year old girl on my friends list.. she was telling me how her parents are abusive and I kept thinking is she for real?

Although I can feel old in comparison with other Gaia members, I quite like the fact that this a place where I can escape from work pressure, financial worries, and the stresses of life. But, as Dafthank says, I do worry that the young kids might think I'm a bit odd for wanting to spend time on Gaia.

I tend to stay in the guild areas, and the ones I am in are like this one. Mature people just chatting about whatever. But it just isn't Gaia. I play World Of Warcraft and the younger crowd is everywhere there. I have my own guild on the Lightbringer server that have mainly adults (or mature sounding people) in it. I don't mind the youngins, just the attitude some of them have, like expressed in some of the above posts.
