legato_darkfall *pokes thread* Well if he's punishing anyone then it would be the Hetero's due to the sex out of wedlock. I think that they would be first on the list. Not to mention that if they read the bible having children is a sin as well. I think it says something about 'man shallt not spread his seed on this earth.' Or something along the lines. *Rolls eyes* They need to get the facts before protesting. =_= rolleyes The term is "spill" not "spread" and it warns against masturbation. Catholics also believe it means people should not use condoms, or have unconventional (oral/a**l) sex.

Lets face it. Religion would be kind of pointless without something to fight against. How else will they fill the pews but with hate and fear. Fear of Gods wrath and hatred for those who cused us to suffer it.Its the oldest trick in the book. I just hope people would stop falling for it.

I beg to differ...
Most religious poeple believe in God(s) because it gives them spiritual support to cope with the issues they face in their lives. The hateful aspiring demagogues who use God as as a tool to further their ideals as well as their followers are in a clear minority (a loud one, though) these days, at least here in Europe. If you just manage to see through the clouds of venomous hatred some individuals spew out and take a closer look at things, you'll see that most people believe in the messages of love, understanding and support that most mainstream religions try and convey - which is quite a far cry away from the picture you try and paint up.

Everyone fails to ask the question of whose God is punishing us? My Greek professor makes sport of all those protests by stating that he thinks it is Zeus' will.
Isn't it convenient that their "God" shares all the same prejudices that they do?

Isn't it convenient that their "God" shares all the same prejudices that they do? A most excellent point there Fantasy Moon. Most people - myself included - have a tendency to narrow it down to God as in the Christian faith, and since most subjects here (and abroad) tend to be centred on movements and opinions in the US based of far-right Christianity expressing such views.

*i then straighten my tie*...i dont get into politics...(and yes ikm wearing a tie in reallife now) but,being gay,bi,straight,transexual...and all that other stuff...should be allowed..IT SHOULD!!! *SLAMS MY FIST AGAINST A TABLE*...Owch...*crys*...the people that think its gross..or are forming a little group to stop all of us..well..n000!!!! Karureyu Okay. Here's the deal. There were a bunch out protestors outside my school today. What were they protesting? Hell if I know! I just know they thought: "God is killing our (American) people as punishment for letting gays in our country". stressed stressed I'm sitting on the bus, thinking "What the f-ck?! What kind of reasoning is that?!" Maybe it's just because I'm seeing this for an atheists point of view, but that seems like a reason sh-tty reason for protesting. NEWS FLASH!!! NO ONE'S BEING PUNISHED EXCEPT THE IDIOTS WHO STARTED THE WAR IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!I'm an atheist, and I have no religious prejudice against anyone! Do you agree or are you like me and think this was a waste of time? BTW, sorry about my language. sweatdrop sweatdrop were they talking about AIDs? cause i saw a pic of a protest in my RE textbook one time and i remeber one of the signs was 'thank god for AIDS' you know because it started amongst gays

I started laughing as soon as I read the part, "God is killing our (American) people to punish us for letting gays into our country." That my friends is just wack. For one if God was really punishing us we would know and it would be a lot worse. Homosexuality has been around for a very long time. The people who are being punished here are those who have to listen to this kind of idiotic stuff from ignorant people.
The second part of this is "letting gays into our country." News flash, we have been here sense this country was formed. Again homosexuality has been around for ages, it isn't something new or like a race. It isn't a race. You can't tell a gay person from a straight person based on defining physical differences. There is no major cultural differences, there is no gay country, or a gay nation. It is a bunch of ignorant rants from some people who can't see the big picture and would rather fall back on God as their excuse for being ignorant. In fact I have a feeling that if there is a God, he is up there right now shacking his head at all the people who use him as an excuse to get away with the stuff they do.
Pheeww. This is just what I would go up and say to this people. Belief me when I say I would love to take them on. I do it all the time with other groups like them and it has changed a great many people's views on things. Saddly there are still those who will never change, but I have shown to some people that what they are believing in is wrong not only to others, but themselves. Like wise quoting from the Bible, like I know they would, they would not be taking Gods word but the person who wrote the scripture. Thus they are putting what they believe in on a real human being with their own prejudices and dislikes of certain people. You need to take what the Bible says with a grain of salt because it was written by humans and humans are a prejudice driven group of people who group together with like minded people. That is where the term "mob" comes from.
Again I actually don't like these kinds of people because they are just setting themselves up for so major backlash. Karma my friends will just come along and kick them in the behind. They might have the right to protest, but they are disgracing and distroying the name and teachings of God and that should be stopped.

ShadowedMoonlight Rawr. I can't stand it when people use religion as an excuse to hate. If you're going to be homophobic, be original and come up with a better 'reason'. I can't stand people who try to force their beliefs on others who want no part of them. Just because it's what you believe doesn't make it true or right, and it definately doesn't mean you have the right to hurt others. people just gotta accept
