Drako Damone (C) vs [Avari Fusion]

Drako smirks back. Kid has spunk. Good. The champ is more or less getting a feel for the challenger's work first hand here, and maybe reminding him that despite his veteran status, the Soaring Dragon can still go with the best of them. Now the champ circles a bit, still leaving the opening for the challenger to make the next move  

[-Nuclear Fusion-]

Avari nods his head in approval at the challenge ahead, and acknowledging the crowd's roar to begin the match. Taking a circle as well Fusion started to close in as he did so, looking to reach out again..

But this time would attempt to move quickly and get behind Drako, looking to lock his arms around the waist of the Champ if successful.

 

[Drako Damone]

Drako goes in, thinking another lock up is coming but Avari slightly outsmarts him here, twisting around behind him and catching him in what's basically a rear waistlock. Instinct kicks in, as he realizes a takedown is most likely to follow, so the Soaring Dragon attempts to run forward and catch hold of the ropes  

[-Nuclear Fusion-]

Avari moves with the momentum, trying to keep his grip. As Drako reaches the ropes the momentum sends Fusion backwards into a roll, and back up to his feet.

He grunts as he gets back up, looking to follow up with another rear waistlock.

 

[Drako Damone]

Drako has a very narrow window here after getting to the ropes. Avari is right back at him. Drako attempts to quickly break his grip and twist around behind him, then roll him up in a victory roll pin  

[-Nuclear Fusion-]

The fans were in for a technical masterclass tonight as Drako is quickly able to avoid another lock, putting Avari into an early pinfall attempt.

One!

Fusion powers out of the pinfall, rolling to the side with momentum.

Drako figured Avari would kick out. This was a test to see how on top of his game the rookie was here tonight. Speaking of which, after the kickout, Drako looks to keep right on him, aiming to quickly catch him in a side headlock takedown to bring him to the mat and hold him there in the headlock  

[-Nuclear Fusion-]

Avari thought he was going to get away but-

"Aaagh!"

He suddenly felt pressure on his head as the Champ was straight on him, showing him his veteran instincts. The ref slid over, checking for any kind of submission, as Fusion tried to wave him away.

 

[Drako Damone]

Drako got his way there, with Avari now down on the mat in the headlock, he's going to keep the hold in as long as he can. The challenger is going to have to work for every inch of ground he gets, which is pretty much the point in Drako's early offense here  

[-Nuclear Fusion-]

Avari Fusion was caught in a predicament here, as he tried to push Drako away from him, soon realising that he was stuck in his headlock. He then began to shimmy his body as much to the side, looking to get towards the ropes.

 

[Drako Damone]

Drako has a secondary motive with this, but no need to elaborate on that. His plan is working as Avari is having to work to get towards the ropes. Once he reaches, them, Drako quickly relinquishes the hold and rolls back to the center of the ring to stand, once again allowing the challenger the chance to get up  

[-Nuclear Fusion-]

The ref was looking to call the rope break, but didn't get a chance as Drako had already moved away. Avari looked up at the Champ and wondered why he hadn't kept the hold on for just a little longer there..

He slowly made his way towards his feet, still standing near the ropes, wondering what was going on here.

 

[Drako Damone]

"Keep your head in the game, kid."

Drako hasn't exactly been doing things the most normal of ways for him for the past six months give or take, and tonight isn't any different. Over the past few shows, most everyone expected him to go low to get the win. They expected the Syndicate to intervene against Nuke, they expected Adrian to get involved against Bad Boy. Defying expectations had a certain level of gratification to it.

The Soaring Dragon keeps his eyes on Avari, signaling him to come for him again  

[-Nuclear Fusion-]

Fusion listened to those words and kept a cool, stern, face.. he shook a wrist out and took a slow walk forward, offering his hand with fingers out for another lockup.

If many people were expecting aerial maneuvers this match, would they have been disappointed with this technical wrestling?

Hell no, the anticipation was high as the crowd began another chant.

[Drako Damone]

Drako won't guarantee that he won't live up to his nickname at some point in the match, but that would be a risk and he'd rather take those when he's a little more sure that they'll work. So he's more than willing to go back into another lockup. Let's see what Avari has learned, as now the champ would attempt to power the challenger back towards the corner
