As things had been getting more serious with Noah, the two of them had decided it was time to meet the families. After some discussion on just where this should take place, they settled on flipping a coin. For once, the (should be) 50/50 odds worked in her favor. Now came the fun part. Everly had managed to find a time and date that worked for both families in full, which was no easy feat. Then came to the menu. Amelia didn't like seafood, Becky didn't like mushrooms, and she didn't care for peas. All in all, not too strict. Naturally, she'd decided it would be easy to make a roast with veg and homemade bread. She'd spent much of the day before preparing everything from bread to her favorite cake for the dinner. After all, it needed to be perfect!
The day of, Everly was in a veritable frenzy. From cleaning and organizing to making sure she'd talked to all her family members about the Braybrooke family. It was a big ordeal, after all! She was very much concerned how the day was going to go. At one point, while in the midst of chopping carrots, Kai walked out in comfy torn jeans and a slightly stained tee. "Nope. Try again, big brother." Kai looked at his outfit, clicking his teeth softly "Why not? It's comfy!" Everly shook her head, sending over an eye roll. "Because you look homeless! I want us to make a good first impression, Kai."
The eldest of the Levy kids sighed. "Why do I have to? I'm not -tch- dating 'em," ....but the intense glare from his sister did indeed cause him to huff before going back to change. Everly resumed cooking, making sure everything was to her standard. She was determined to make sure everything went well. "Mum, the table's cleared of craft stuff and clean of any glittery residue, yes?" She cast a look toward the main source of glitter about the house, as she shifted to finish frosting the cake that she usually only did for hers and Ruth's birthday. Next was to finish setting the big table so that there were enough spots for everyone in the group. There were about to be a bunch of people in the house! As she finished there, Kai came back and checked for approval on his outfit. Evie nodded, making sure she was listening to the floo. It wouldn't do to miss them arriving, after all!

◆◊ Caty had been equal parts excited and nervous when Evie had explained that she was inviting her boyfriend's family over for a dinner party/meet up. She'd been over the moon when her daughter told her about her crush and how they'd gotten together and was practically giggly at the idea of meeting his family. What made her nervous was everything else really. She had Finn had become rather comfortable with the amount of...character their house held and the children had pretty much gone along with it. Until today it seems. She was marveling at the wooden floors of the living room that hadn't been this glitter free since their move in she thinks.
Her poor daughter was fretting about in the kitchen working on nearly ten different things at once and her brother and father had already gotten her ire with their original dress. Caty luckily caught her husband the second time he attempted a jumper from his college days before he could be seen and sent him back to their bedroom with a full outfit set out for him. For Kai she just gave him a cheeky grin and smooch on the kiss. "Be a bit gentle on your sister, this is a big first for her!" Goddess, it felt like yesterday they had brought her and Ruth home and were beginning their first days of bonding as a family. And now she's a freshly graduated young woman with a partner and her whole life ahead of her. Bollocks, she really didn't want to cry right now, she'd just gotten her eyeliner wing straight!
Luckily for her, Evie called out to her asking if the table had indeed been cleaned causing her to teasingly roll her eyes. "Yes love, Ruth even double checked it." with Caty standing outside in the garden even. Rude. "The house had literally never been this spotless! Just, take a breather yeah? The food's practically done, why don't you hand off some tasks to the rest of us? At this rate you're going to burn yourself out before they even arrive."
At Caty's suggestion, her husband just came downstairs with a much better outfit on only to pause with a scared grimace. "Is is safe to even ask that? I think there's a hole in my head from how hard she glared when I tried to get coffee earlier." Finn was only minorly joking. He was happy for his daughter and proud that she felt comfortable enough to put all this together for the families to meet. That said, she terrified him about as much as his own younger sister did and wanted no part of her s**t list. ◇◈
Noah was far more nervous than he thought he would be. He already knew several of Evie’s family members so it wasn’t like he was going in totally blind, but no matter what he was prepared for, today was probably going to be a lot. After all, there would be like 55 of them. Maybe that was an exaggeration but it certainly felt like that getting the Braybrookes and Levy’s together. It already felt like a big group of people in his house with just the four kids and two parents. He took a breath, calming his thoughts. This was really just about him and Evie. Everyone else was just along for the ride. Being anxious about it was silly. Plus, he knew full well he was charming so he was bound to make a good impression. He fluffed his hair a little and straightened his collar. He was ready for this. Most likely.
"Are we ready?" Noah called, hoping everyone in the house was close enough to hear him. After only a second his parents appeared, arms linked and looking immaculate as ever. For not the first time in his life, he had the thought that they looked like a couple from a 1950s sitcom. You could replace Dad with a young d**k van Dyke and no one would notice the difference.
"Primped, polished, and all set," Leah said with a bright smile. Then she seemed to hesitate."Though I am missing three children still," she said as she glanced around. Then as if on cue Amelia popped around the corner. "Make that two," Leah amended absentmindedly brushing the girl's hair.
"Clara! Charlotte! Are you coming?"Matthew called behind him. "Your brother might have a conniption if we're late." Apparently, Noah's nerves had not gone unnoticed by the rest of the family. He wrinkled his nose in his Dad's direction but Matthew just smiled.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," Charlotte's voice came as she entered the room, Clara trailing behind her.
As soon as everyone was accounted for, Noah grabbed the dish of floo powder and began passing it around. He stepped into the large fireplace and closed his eyes. It was going to be fine. He was here for Evie. With a flash he felt the familiar sensation of floo travel and he was opening his eyes to the Levy home. Or what he seriously hoped was the Levy home or they had made a mistake somewhere along the way.

Everly was working on frantically continuing her clean up tirade. Mum was telling Kai to be gentle on her, which caused her to smirk. Kai made some remark about having to change his clothes, before he walked off. Everly, on the other hand, had about a zillion things left to do and only a few minutes to fully finish them! But when asking mum about their table, apparently Ruth had double checked the work. "Lovely. Ruthie's got better eyes than me anyhow." She laughed, tapping the arm of her glasses. Then, of course, she was told to take a break before she exploded, while also asking her to expedite some tasks.
"Sure, mum. I've got the roast and desserts all done, the bread is out, but resting for a few minutes, then we'll be able to slice it for dinner. I got the plates and flatware all set out, but if you could get the two bowls of fancy butter from the fridge and move those to the table. Everything else should be clean, unless you tapped into craft supplies outside the workshop today. I was up all night scrubbing!" She sighed softly, looking over at dad. "Hey now, I only did that because you're somehow the messiest barista the world has ever seen!" She teased back, before giving him a quick hug.
Kai had moseyed to the front room, idly watching his sister in the garden. Was she preparing for zen... or more likely preparing to steal any and all jackets, jumpers, hoodies.... or anything else even vaguely warm from this family (despite Everly having made a strict rule.... and it being August...). When the fireplace lit up green, the color reflected in his bright green eyes. The first one out was a boy, matching the description Evie had given to belonging to Noah. Kai offered a nod, before smirking and calling out, "Hey nerd, your boyfriend's here." He laughed, hearing the frustrated groan from the kitchen.
Everly hurried into the living room, her boots clicking on the wooden floors. "Aha, I'm so sorry about him! Noah!" She quickly pulled him into a hug, before waving at the others. As her own family joined in, she took the liberty of introductions. "Hello! It's so lovely to meet you... or see you again, depending. My name is Everly Levy. Welcome in to our house. These are my parents, Finn and Caty, my brother, Kai, my unofficial twin, Ruth, and our younger sister Becky!" She said, happily pointing everyone out.
Her words were cut off by a small laugh from her brother. "H-hang on. I -tch- I'll do it better. Dad's damn near a -kcth- genius. Does science magic. Mum's a glitter covered mess with a heart of gold." he paused, his tics making his head and shoulder jerk for a second. "Evie's a human calculator-slash-gremlin who pairs up with thattaone to steal -klik- any and all warmth in the house. Becky's a goober who never wears shoes. An-and I'm perfect, no notes." He offered a cheesy grin, ignoring his younger sister's glare in his direction. She couldn't smack him in front of the Braybrookes... and he knew it! "Aha... yes. Well, anyway. It's very nice to have you over! Dinner's all ready to be plated up, so we can have a wonderful evening of getting to know each other." Evie grinned, but her nerves were creeping back up.

◆◊ Caty gave a sharp salute as Evie finally took her advice to delegate. She went to the fridge to pull out the fancy butters (that she had no idea they even had, what made it fancy? was it the cow? diditevencomefromacow) before their daughter's next words caused dramatic wounded gasps from both parents. "The mess is part of the art form!" he tried to argue that maybe ended up more as a whine but he wasn't going to point that out. "I took your craft schedule very seriously! Nothing glitter related has happened in the house for at least...48 hours. Give or take" The summer months was generally when her small jewelry business had its biggest boom and between maximizing her supply and advertising, she went through a rather startling amount of glitter during the time. As try as she might, it very rarely stayed in the craft room upstairs. But for Everly, she did her best!
Ruth was indeed preparing her zen before a hoard of people trampled into their safe space but unfortunately, it was for her sister so she had to allow it. So in the effort to prepare herself and keep on Evie's good side, she was taking cuts of the flowers that she (and the other children of the home) had managed to keep alive somehow. For some reason she'd had issues with the magical plants in herbology but the mundane ones that grew naturally or were gifted by their grandparents were surprisingly hardy. As such, she was able to build a pretty nice bouquet if she said so herself and held it in front of her to show Kai with a small proud grin.
They both turned as the fireplace lit and Ruth's smile unconsciously dipped before giving a deep sigh. "People." she said softly and seriously. She brushed away any dirt that might've gotten on her and walked into the house unnoticed by most due to Kai's colorful announcement. She was met by her mum at the table as she arranged the bouquet to be placed in the middle while the older woman was attempting to arrange the butter dishes so it was easily accessible by all. Caty shot her shy daughter a comforting grin and pat while Finn wrapped an arm around her as he led them into the living room where introductions were being made by Evie.
They were then taken over by Kai which had Ruth placing her face into her palm, Finn lightly blushing at being called a "genius" ("Idunnoaboutthat...), and Caty trying very hard not to outwardly giggle else she draw her daughter's ire. She tried to catch her son's eye to let him know he should be very glad she'd taken physical reactions off the table today to at least seem like a function family in front of others while Ruth apparently did not share this idea. She may not know wandless but she knew science, specifically static electricity which she covertly and eagerly charged rubbing her sweater paws together before reaching a single finger towards Kai's exposed neck. ◇◈
