I like the story premise here overall so far. It is enjoyable. The only questions I have is whether this is a beat draft or if this is considered to be a finished work and wasn't Edward around 14-15 when he joined the military? I could be wrong in this but I was pretty sure that's how old he was.

Yeah this is the best draft of this story and edward is 16 here anyway so in my mind he's legal ^_^

Actually when both people are mature enough I don't see anything wrong with a 10 year age difference. As it is my parents are 8 years apart. It's not something I'm going to hold against anyone if the couple is truly happy.
