"My tail has a mind of its own. I don't tell it what to say, nor can I really control it either." The tail was still hissing and spitting insults, though a glance from Pauk had it silence down a bit more and press against the hybrid's body. Surely he could tell that the tail only meant to help protect him against someone who was saying weird things, right? "Surely you're not truly bothered by a tail?"

"Now you have." Pauk was amused by this dragon's reactions, if not by how....young she seemed. Her pouting and sassy words revealed her to be but a child in his eyes, which in a manner of speaking helped ease his nerves about her. Foals were easily dismissed or escaped from, if he really needed to do. "Also, it's late. Why are you so trusting to walk in the dark with a complete stranger?"

The magical orbs that had been glowing ever so brightly started to dim as though in warning, or in intimidation. Pauk certainly wasn't going to hurt a child. Well, this mare wasn't really a foal anymore, she clearly was an adult, but in terms of age he was.....far ahead of her. Probably her parents too, and theirs. Weird.

Oh, Pauk certainly knew of the Glitterfang family. It was safe to say they were, well, rich and the fact that they actually had an extended family and business was quite impressive among the dragons. From what the hybrid understood most dragons preferred to be alone and that was where he assumed he got his general loner nature; his need for company came from the ghoulie side, supposedly. The fact this....Fuchsia...was so willing to spout her family name like it was more of who she was than anything else was also....amusing. Clearly she was a child, even if she didn't look it.

"You may call me Pauk." At the introduction of his name all of the glowing orbs vanished, leaving the pair entirely in the dark save for the stars above. It was only for a brief moment before the hybrid started to faintly shimmer, his natural magic warping the shadows to give his eyes a wondrous glow. His wings spread at the end of his introduction as well, though they quickly folded again as he relaxed. If he was meant to be scary well, maybe it worked?

He didn't know.

"Hmm." Pauk's voice seemed to shimmer and shift with the darkness as well - was it a ghoulie thing or simply something he was doing for fun? Either way he was highly amused over how children these days seemed unaffected by nearly everything; a while back just a simple light show would have been enough to send herds of ponies scampering away. He did also know dragons to be honest, so he could take her words at face value without having to think too hard.

After a moment or two of silence the hybrid spoke, his voice still echoing faintly. "You should be getting home. It's quite late, quite dark, and you are quite small and young."

"I am concerned for you as you are but a child." Pauk's words weren't arrogant or pushy, but true; the dragon in him was honest as always. "You are the one to wander in the dark, speaking to strangers in places of snow and shadow."

Despite his words, or whatever, the entire area around the pair seemed to grow brighter as Pauk used his magic to make things easier to see. It also allowed more of a view of the hybrid, something he was quite a bit shy to actually do, but he wanted to escort this child home in safety. "But I will help see you home. You did come to find me after all, which is why you strayed from your path."

Compared to this full-blooded dragon, Pauk towered over her. He was much darker as well, and sturdier, but she had a certain charm about her.

"I prefer to travel at night. Places are generally devoid of people and it's not particularly bright out so it's easier on me for many reasons." While it may have been bright around the pair now it was faintly noticeable that the brightness was more intense around Fuchsia, less so about the hybrid. "I don't like needless questions or stares from strangers, and bright lights hurt my eyes."

He was giving out quite a bit of information to avoid one of the things he said he didn't like - excessive questions. This young dragon hadn't been peppering him too much but it was easier to just n** certain things in the bud. Pauk had been around long enough to know what was coming, usually. "Now, where do you live? I won't take you entirely home but close enough you can travel safely."

The dragoulie had zero interest in finding out specifically where she resided.

It seemed as though Pauk was good at guessing she'd be satisfied with his answers, and he was inwardly pleased. His ability to read people looked as though it was still on the mark in this case. "So you work close to home? I suppose not all are so fortunate." Perhaps her name had something to do with how well she was spoiled, since Pauk was aware that those with old ties tended to be able to have far more doors open for them. Were he to know his name, would such things happen for him too?

The dragoulie wouldn't have liked it anyway. He preferred to make his own fortunes in the world without ponies having to know about him and his family. Not that he even remembered much of his family.

"Hmm." Pauk hadn't asked questions but apparently his conversation partner felt the need to share everything anyway. It wasn't a bad thing since it prevented him from having to talk, but he also didn't really care about her personal situation. The fact she also casually slid in conversations about her family was another sign to the hybird that she either really lived by her family name or loathed it. Either way it wasn't important, and so the soft 'hmmm' was the only response she got.

However when she stopped he stopped as well, not really needing to overstep her in matters. "What are you looking at now?" If it was her reflection, how vain. If it was his, how rude. Pauk avoided looking at himself if he could - not because he hated his looks but rather he just didn't see the point. His tail was more than happy to describe his appearance in a far more flavorful way than a mirror ever could.
