Name: Devith
Derived from Deva/Devi. Which are the good spirits and protectors in Hindu religion. Also Devi is used as a nickname for the mother goddess.
Age: 11
Color: Green
Size: 26'
Physical Description: Devith has a long slight body and large elegant wings. Stretched out neck and tail make her turns in the air fluid and graceful, unfortunately the sleek look is rather ruined by her legs which are short and dumpy even by dragon standards giving her movements on land more of a waddle than a walk. Overall she comes in at slightly larger than average
Her colours though are quite eye catching. A base of a rich dark green is overlaid with chemical green that almost glows in the right light, applied in careful patterns of stripes and splotches. The stripes run up her legs and over the bottom third of her tail which is where they then give way to large spots that go all the way up he spine line and cover the top of her back.
Personality: Looking at L'rel and Devith you would not be the first to wonder what the two are doing together. Devith is loud social and wants to know what absolutely everyone is doing. Mainly because she feels that they need her help with it. Weather they asked her or not. Overly affectionate with both dragons and people from the moment she meets them, with no concept of personal space, she is like a mother hen clucking over everyone's affairs and always up to hear the latest rumour or gossip going around so she can impart her option on it for all in the vicinity to hear, and of course her unfortunate rider.
She will then seek to spread the juiciest bits of gossip. And it is only L'rel's steady insistence on the truth of information, that keeps her from embellishing her stories to much. And all the time Devith is steadily opening her riders mind to the goings on of the weyr without him realising it.
Constantly curious she enjoys listening to L'rels findings on his own knowledge quest and of course giving her view point before he will indulge her and write down all the best rumours she has heard about the Weyr. On the surface they might not be alike but they understand each other on a deep level. Both of them are constantly on a search for different truths and theories. And Devith recognised hidden depths inside her rider to stand against the tide no matter what came at him and still remain upright and someone she can depend on. He will also make sure no gossip she spreads will become malicious and risk hurting someone which is not her intention.
Being surprisingly intelligent for a green the stimulus from both the weyr and her rider keep her from getting bored but it explains why she has never shown exceptional talent in any one field. Once she has completed the task it is no longer a real challenge and she is ready to move onto something else, if the task continues to long she will start becoming increasingly distracted by outside influences to the point where even the steady L'rel can't get her on Focus.
Devith is also deeply caring about just about everyone. Nor is she afraid of anyone, not even the gold. She will always go out of her way to help and defend the underdog and make them feel better. 'Be it a child or just someone like her rider who is used to taking flack she wants to listen and help.
'There there child, sit on my tail, have a nie cup of Klah and tell me allllllll about it'.
However in high stress situations when she feels unable to help or is blocked from doing so she will become increasingly fretful. Worrying about everyone's safety especially her riders.
As big moma dragon she will always try and shelter them under her wings. She can not stand bullies or those she views as such and when faced with a bully, dragon or human she will loose her temper. Insults and scolding will be heaped on the individual in equal measure and the only one that can calm her before her rage is spent when she gets to that stage is her rider.
As quite a broody green she Rises on a fairly regular basis. She might favour one male above others but it is rare that she will give any of them special treatment so it is pure luck to who catches her. It is more likely she will go out of her way to avoid a male she doesn't like than be caught by one she does.
