When Cei took off, any remaining courage that Asali had fled along with his sibling, galvanizing him into action. Darting after his brother, Asali didn't even look back, although his heart thumped hard when he slipped near the cave entrance, smacking his chin hard on the stone floor.

Scrabbling back onto his feet, he dug his claws into the ground for purchase, barely wincing at his now-throbbing jaw as he ran toward home, only a few steps behind Cei the entire way.
