Jace hadn't noticed that Kolya didnt hear him when he said he would be back. He was too focused on trying to get the voices in his head to stop. He hated that he didnt have control over his own ability. That hatred toward himself didnt help him as he tried to control it. He stood by a window letting the sunshine hit his skin as it shined through. He stopped his hands resting on the windowsill. He took a deep breath and focused on clearing his mind. He held it before releasing it and continued to do that until he calmed down and the voices went from yells in his mind to whispers until they finally disappeared. He relaxed letting out a sigh of relief. It was getting easier after all these years to regain control but he tried to keep his worries of hurting people at bay. He was experiencing new emotions now that he was making friends and he needed to make sure he kept himself calm and keep his emotions at bay or else he risked his powers being out of control and he did not want that. He couldn't help but wonder how Kolya did it. He looked to the shadows. Thinking about the dark world he had visited so many times, the creatures that lived in it, all the things he had worked so hard over the years to control and manipulate. How do you continuously keep yourself from being engulfed by it? he mumbled to himself. There were advantages to his ability but he knew that it could also do a lot of harm not just to him but to others. Though the darkness wasnt all bad to him, he could see some good things in it. He realized he should go back to his class. He took another deep breath and walked back to class. He walked back in feeling eyes on him as he went back to his seat hoping he wasnt a distraction to Oliver's lesson as he sat back down and went back to his notes looking up at the board to see what he may have missed while he was out trying to calm himself. He knew people could sense his dark aura and kept their distance but it was nothing to him. He smiled at Kolya when he looked over at him and went back to his notes.

I just had this idea of like Jace having like a shadow pet. Like one of the creatures from the world in the shadows. I don't know it just sounded cool in my mind. Like he's just practicing and then this creature gets out and he has to control it and it ends up liking Jace. Maybe that could be why he and Kolya get into an argument because Jace decides to keep it like a pet and Kolya doesnt think its a good idea even though it becomes loyal to Jace.

I really like the idea. More than anything though, Kolya wuldn't see a problem with the pet idea. Maybe it'd snap at Kolya and draw blood and Kolya wouldn't care (he's got blood manipulation after all) but Jce might think it was his fault and fight. That being said, Kolya would be very masochistic.
"Everything alright?" Kolya had asked when Jace sat back down.
He moved his notebook over so that Jace could copy down the notes on forensic analysis, something Jace had mentioned interest in. At the moment, it was more along the lines of basics, not full details, but it was the first day and not a whole lot of study would undergo. Not until later in the term. Curiosity was getting the better of him, and he knew that something was troubling Jace. Was it the shadows? Kolya had a darkness in him, but nothing as atuned as his friend.
"Everything is fine" he said not wanting to worry him. He also couldnt help but feel ashamed that he still struggled to keep such a "dangerous" power under control. Jace looked at the notes Kolya had took and quickly took note of them in his journal so that he could focus on what Oliver was talking about now.
Something didn't seem to sit right, even with what Jace had said to him. He didn't want to push him into an uncomfortable place, but he did want to be there for Jace if needed. He knew Kimberly and the others would feel the same. The tavern was being finished at the end of the day, the magic staff making use to assist the builders and carpenters in getting it done for the grand opening. Kolya wouldn't mind an imported Russian beer to get over the first day of school.
Oliver was rambling on about the topic of fingerprint analysis for another student, so Kolya zoned out partly. He wanted to get more into depth on topics that interested him, such as crime scene investigation and so on.
Jace wasn't used to having to having friends. He was enjoying it so far but he was still very insecure about his ability. The last thing he wanted was to hurt anyone and people were typically afraid of his abilities. He could just imagine how people would be even more afraid if they knew he still struggled with control. He needed to find a space where he could practice. He could use his room but he would prefer somewhere away from people in case struggled with gaining control. He needed to practice often so he could gain better control. He tried to stay focused on what Oliver was saying so that he didn't drift off into any negative thoughts especially with so many people around him.

"Well, students, it's ten minutes to one. I'm going to let you all go to lunch early, so enjoy the extra time. We pick up where we left off tomorrow, and we will be looking at evidence videos and so forth. This is going to test whether or not most of you will be staying in this class. Have fun," Oliver announced, clicking his white-board marker lid on and giving a brisk wave to the students. They packed up around him, chattering away about mindless nonsense, only few remarking on the class at hand. Oliver was busy writing down some notes at his desk, remaining there until the time was up. He did, after all, have to lock the classroom up prior to lunch. He had all of his belongings piled at the end of his desk, waiting to be put into his bag to move to his next class for the day, his Health minor.
Kolya grabbed his pens and books and shoved them into his bag. He stood up and tossed his bag over his shoulder, "Should we go to the food trucks already? I can message the others to meet us there, or we can get a coffee and wait for the lunch bell?" he asked.
He wanted to be confident that Jace was okay, but he was unsure for the moment. Perhaps getting out of the Forensic Science room would be better? He doubted that the graphic content was driving his powers crazy, but he wasn't sure what was going on. Surely some sunlight and a bunch of crazy, extroverted friends would be the best way to cure what was on his mind. At least for an hour.
Jace grabbed his things together and put them in his bag before standing and looking at Kolya. "Coffee sounds good" he told him and slung his strap over his shoulder. "At least I'm not the only coffee addict" he said and smiled and started to make his way out of the class. "See you later Mr.Torvald" he said as they passed them.

Oliver looked up and gave the boys a smile. "See you later in the day, no doubt. Perhaps in Krav Maga on the weekends?" he said with a wide grin. His Australian accent was coming through, even though he had a lighter accent compared to the stereotypical one people were used to hearing from movies. He waited for the boys to move out of the room to grab his things and lock the door. He made his way to his Health classroom, which was currently empty, and began to set everything up in advance. Once he felt satisfied, and the lunch bell rang, he made his way to the cafeteria for a bite to eat.
Kolya followed after Jace's lead, saying his goodbyes to Oliver before making their way to the cafeteria. Starbucks was the best bet, and when the boys arrived the line was still relatively short. Kolya jumped in line while Jace went to find a table before the crowd descended on the area for food. He knew what Jace would want, so there was little struggle there. He bought both drinks, making a mental note that Jace would buy next time to "make them even". Grabbing the drinks as the lunch bell rang, he made his way to were Jace had been sitting.
"Good timing, eh? Should I message everyone, or do you want to just go straight to the Food Trucks?" he asked.
Jace let Kolya get the drinks this time. There was hardly anyone right now so it wasnt hard to find a table to sit. He looked around while he waited. He looked up when Kolya came over with their coffees. "Yeah perfect timing" he said. "I think we should head to the food trucks since everyone had agreed to meet there already" Jace told him standing and grabbing his backpack and coffee. "I wonder what kind of food I should get for lunch?" he said as they started walking to the food trucks. As much as he didnt like being in really bright areas the sun was helping clear his head of all those dark whispers he was hearing during his class.
