Ariana turned her head to where she heard Zane lean against the wall. She knew that it was considered polite to look at people as you spoke to them, so she did her best, though sometimes she was a bit off. Ariana gave a warm smile as she spoke "Yes, I slept fine thank you. You know you can just call me Ari, right?" she said letting out a small giggle. It was odd with how formal people tended to be, plus she considered Zane more as a friend than as a guard.

"How did you sleep?" Ariana asked in return, hearing Scout's tiny feet scampering past her as Scout went over to Zane. She wasn't really all that sure what she felt like doing, maybe just going for a walk and get some fresh air or something.

Astrid then came padding in having finished her breakfast. She went directly over to Vallerie with a wagging tail before she made a small friendly barking noise. .Astrid was only three months old, but had the biggest heart of any animal anyone could ever know. Having been abandoned at a young age, and being found by Snow and Valon, she'd come a long way. She went from growling and biting everyone who came near her, to being the sweetest little pup, that is after she realized that she could trust Valon and anyone whom he deemed 'okay' to go near. No one knew that she was half dog. All anyone knew was that she had been abandoned, and needed someone to raise her. Had she not been found that day, she would have died by now, since she was half starved to death and was really skinny. Her dual color eyes were what gave her both her looks and made everyone curious about her. Lately though, people had been wanting to buy her but she refused to come near anyone outside of the castle. Well.....except for Vallerie and anyone else who helped her master.

Shina fallowed valons movements from outside the castle in a tree as he moved down the corridors using the small windows to keep an eye on his movements she fallowed his movements into the hospital ward and met up with Vallerie. they seemed to be having a casual conversation "not much like Valon"she said to herself as she silently watched from afar.

"You have no need to apologize." Valon said before sitting down. He took notice to her bandage and looked down a little. "You've been hurt. I could always ask one of the guards to watch over you." 'I wonder who or what could have caused that injury. It would be a shame if she were to get severely hurt and there be no one to help her." Snow followed behind Astrid and stood beside Valon as he usually did. He was used to seeing others around the prince but still continued to keep an eye out for any sort of danger.

"That's nice to hear....Ari." Zane said before picking up Scout. "Good morning to you as well Scout." He chuckled a little before turning his attention back to Ari. "I could have slept better. I keep having these nightmares and waking up in the middle of the night. Don't worry about me alright Ari. It's my problem and I don't want you to worry."

Val bent down to pet Astrid a few times. When she rose back up she looked at her knee, "Oh this? Its nothing really. I just slipped and fell on my way here. No need to concern yourself with it." she went over to the bookcase and grabbed a very large one. Val opened it up while she picked up a quill and ink. She had to add the new numbers of herbs into a large book we they knew how much they had and when it was last delivered, "If you are still having trouble sleeping, I can make you a quick potion for it. Take it right as you are getting in bed, it'll knock you out for hours."

Scout's tail happily wagged behind him as Zane picked him up. Ariana gave Zane a small look of concern "Don't tell me not to worry. Just promise me that you won't push yourself to hard. And if you ever need to talk about anything let me know." Ari said pushing some hair out of her face. She was always concerned about the people of the kingdom, things were bad enough as is, so she wanted to help as much as possible.

"I don't really have anything in mind for today. Do you know if it's nice outside? Or if mother is up?" Ariana asked curiously. She couldn't hear any rain outside her windows, but for all she knew there could be a storm approaching.

Astrid's tail wagged as Vallerie pet her a few times. Then she went over to Valon and jumped on his leg, wanting 'uppy' as he called it. She loved being held like a baby. Though right now all she wanted was attention from Valcon. She barked at him saying 'uppy daddy' in wolf language. She was still a puppy, and as such, she didn't realize she was interrupting. Astrid had always been an attention hog when it came to Valcon. That is from the time she started trusting him. She even bit him once when he first found her.

"You should be more careful." Valon said. "I do worry about you Vallerie." He laughed a little and picked up Astrid. "I'm still trying to teach Astrid a few things. I actually sleep just fine but thanks anyway. Maybe Gale will have time to stop in soon." 'I just can't help but think about my family. They must be worried sick about me.' Snow watched Astrid and sighed. 'Perhaps one day she will learn when to sit quietly.'

"I'll be fine Ari." Zane said. "My childhood wasn't all that great but it's nice knowing that you care about me. You're one of the few that actually does." 'Ophelia was the first to care about me, even after I gained my powers. If I hadn't of let that kid get to me then maybe she would still be alive.' "The weather is actually quite nice today and I'm not really sure if the queen is awake or not. I came straight here when I woke up myself." He then smiled and started petting Scout.

Vallerie laughed at Astrid eagerness, "Oh I'm alright. I fall all the time when I'm on land. Its very different from swimming with a tail." she smiled and went back to work. Her knee was bothering her a bit after all that walking. A small limp was noticeable as she went to and from storage, "I have a treat for you Astrid." she reached in her basket and pulled out a fish, "Wait until you try this guy. Its very tasty. You too Snow." she chopped it up and placed it on a plate. She carefully placed it on the ground, "Enjoy."

"Oh and before I forget, I have something for you too your Grace." she reached in again

Astrid ate her fish after she sniffed at it, making sure it was okay to eat. It was weird since she did it every time she was about to eat. No one knew why she would do this every time, but it was because her mother was poisoned by the food she ate and was throwing up blood. She threw up on Astrid by accident and was shot when she was trying to move out of the den with Astrid in her mouth. So that's why Astrid sniffed her food. It had only been a couple of months since she started living here, so she was still learning to trust others.

Ariana gave a warm smile "More people care about you than you probably think." she said. She didn't know much about Zane's past, and she didn't want to force him to talk about it if he didn't want to. His past was his business, she was just there if he needed to talk. Ariana wasn't all that surprised by Zane's explanation of him coming straight to her room, that seemed fairly normal, he was he guard after all, and he always seemed to make his duty his number one priority, that was something Ariana truly respected of him. As Zane rubbed his head, Scout happily rubbed his head back against the hand enjoying the affection.

Ariana could kind of relate to the rough childhood thing. She hadn't been allowed to really go anywhere since people were worried about her blindness. She had felt like she was trapped in a cage, sure people treated her well, but it took quite some time before she was allowed to actually move even from room to room without an escort.

"Maybe we can go for a walk or something outside then!" Ariana said trying to cheer up Zane's mood a bit. "I don't really have anything in mind so do you have any suggestions?" she asked curiously.

Snow ate the fish and smiled. "Thank you Vallerie." "Snow is quite fond of you Vallerie. I think he likes it when you stop by." He chuckled a little and sighed. "I could heal that for you. Now what could you possibly have for me?"

"You're probably right Ari." Zane said sighing. "I haven't been close to anyone in a long time." 'It's just not something I'm ready to talk about right now. Maybe one day I will be able to show everyone who I truly am.' "A walk sounds nice. I'm ready to go whenever you are."

"I found this in an underwater cave. I hope you like it." she pulled out a rock and gave it to him, "Turn in around." inside was a huge chunk of ruby, in its natural state, unpolished.

Ariana smiled a bit, glad that Zane seemed to be feeling a bit better, she hoped one day he would feel comfortable talking to her and opening up a bit more, but she wasn't going to rush it. A light tap on the floor indicated that Scout had jumped down from Zane's arms, excited from hearing the word walk.

Ariana nodded happily as Zane agreed to the walk and stated that he was ready to go. "Alright, lets go then!" she said cheerfully taking a few steps towards the door and out into the hallway. She had most of the building memorized which helped her feel a bit more freedom about walking around, but outside the building and stairs were a different story. The excited footsteps of Scout followed close behind, the fox's tail swaying joyfully behind him.

Astrid ate her fish after she saw Snow eating his fish. She liked it and started wolfing it down, making sure not to take too much at one time in her mouth. Once she finished it, she said "tank ou." She was still learning to talk like Snow and was getting the hang of it, but was having trouble with some words. She then went over to Vallerie and nuzzled the girl's leg. Astrid was starting to shed some but not too badly.
