I will definitely be praying for you! I've been through doubting whether or not I'm saved more times than I care to remember. And yes most of those doubts were because of the remaining sin that I saw in my like. My pastor has been preaching through the death of Christ, and one point he brought out that has been so encouraging and wonderful to think about, are Jesus' last words, "It is finished!" Just meditate on that...Christ has taken away the punishment for our sins. For all of our sin, even the ones we are yet going to commit. Christ meant that the sin debt has been paid in full! Nothing has to be added to it. Not our good works or trying to live a perfect sinless life.
If you want I can post a link of sermon. I found it to be such a blessing to me and I'm sure God could use it to be a blessing to you as well.

Could you? 3nodding

I used to have doubts like this often. I loved God, I tried to serve him, but I seriously (and sometimes still do) fear the coming of Christ because I thought I wasn't good enough and that I would be left behind. I doubted often that I was saved, because, after all, I still had ___ sin in my life and ___ other sin, too. I hadn't accomplished anything significant for the Lord, and so surely he wouldn't want me when the time came.

A lot of it comes from the enemy, and I think for me the biggest thing he attacked me with was my self esteem. I have often struggled with, and at times still do struggle with, seeing my worth. When I used to look in the mirror, all I would see were flaws. I couldn't see that I had value or worth in Christ, and so because of this I couldn't believe he could possibly forgive me. I seriously believed the things in the Bible about God's love and forgiveness were true for everyone else, but myself. That's a lie of the enemy, though. Thanks to a lot of personal ministry, a book study and the continuous love and support and prayers from friends and family, I have since stopped believing it. Even now, however, I have to watch myself because I still have those thoughts try to sneak in and I have to reassure myself every time that they do that they're a lie from the enemy.

I don't know if this is something you struggle with or not, but rest assured that it's not abnormal to be attacked with the fear that your salvation is false.

Here are two songs that help me when I am facing these doubts, I'm going to share links for them here and I hope they help you. :3 (I would advise though, not reading the comments on the videos. The woman who wrote these songs has since left her calling and the comment section can get fairly...uh...drama-ish because of it.)

His Grace and Hold me Now

Thank you. I think we are attacked with lack of assurance in order to steer us away from doing things for God, because it can feel really debilitating. sad

Please pray for me that I would come to know the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ if I'm lost. And please pray that I would come to have the assurance of my salvation if I'm truly saved. I notice that when I have the assurance of my salvation, I tend to be joyful in the Lord and want to please Him, but lately I've been doubting because I'm having trouble with some personal sins. I'm willing to let them go and want to let them go, but I'm struggling with them.

Please pray for me. Thank you.

I'll pray for you

also whatever you're struggling with, the fact that you want to let it go is in a way a testimony of your salvation because you want to get rid of them but the problem is you keep going back to them because of the lust of the flesh, so continue to repent everytime you fall, always repent, the true Christian will always repent even if they have fallen many times throughout the day, but there needs to be a genuine repentance. So repent and believe.

Thank you. --hugs--

*hugs* love you!

Love you too, starry. crying

Thank you. I think we are attacked with lack of assurance in order to steer us away from doing things for God, because it can feel really debilitating. sad

Actually I think it's more to keep our eyes off of Christ and what he has done for us, what happens when you doubt your salvation? you're looking at yoursef and what you've done and you're looking at all your works rather than looking at what Christ has done and his work for us on the Cross which was pay for all our sins, there is no work you have to do that can save you, you need only accept this salvation by believing the Gospel, believing in Christ and repenting. You lacking assurance is ment to take your eyes off of Christ and focus on what doesn't matter. Which is not to say works aren't important just as it says in James 2:14-26, works are an evidence of your salvation if you have faith then you have works but these works are not what save you but are rather an evidence of your regeneration and salvation. Though examining yourself to see if you're in the faith is also a good thing, it helps you realize where you stand.

James 2:14-26
14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.

18 But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” 19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. 20 But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? 22 You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness,” and he was called the friend of God. 24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

John Piper
Pray and Ponder Yourself Into Sync with Paul's Sense of Wealth

When the apostle Paul thinks about “wealth” or “riches” what springs to his mind? What should spring to ours? Where should our efforts at enrichment be invested?

Here are all the uses of Paul’s favorite word for “riches” (Greek: ploutos). Taste and see what he lives for.

The riches of God’s kindness and forbearance and patience. (Romans 2:4)
The riches of God’s glory for vessels of mercy. (Romans 9:23)
The riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! (Romans 11:33)
A wealth of generosity on their part. (2 Corinthians 8:2)
The riches of God’s grace. (Ephesians 1:7)
The riches of God’s glorious inheritance in the saints. (Ephesians 1:1 cool
The immeasurable riches of God’s grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:7)
The unsearchable riches of Christ. (Ephesians 3: cool
The riches of God’s glory. (Ephesians 3:16)
God’s riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
The riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27)
The riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ. (Colossians 2:2)
The rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. (1 Timothy 6:17)

How are you doing Nianisu?

Somewhat okay, I think. Although lately I've been questioning my salvation again. I keep doing worldly things like watching certain anime "Naruto" that I didn't feel comfortable watching before, among other things. I feel like I'm backsliding a lot.

But I've been praying for God to show me if I'm lost and save me if I am.
