Wallis was kind of glad that his brother's reputation for being a hothead hadn't followed the younger McGregor tot he auror's office. Honestly, he was surprised that he hadn't been accused of being a hothead, but then again, he was a lot more level-headed in school, and Leon had never been made head boy. Still, his first few years had been different. Especially given that he kind of sort of knew the head auror. Only kind of sort of, as Borson was Jer's brother and not his own. Still, between his supervisor and every other experienced auror in the force, Leon was the last thing that he thought of during training. Which good, that meant that he could focus, but bad, as he was pretty much working hard to prove he could be a competent member of the force.
Still, it all brought him to Oxford, and feeling like he'd stepped into Michael's people. Everyone sounded like they had a very posh accent, and while Wallis's accent wasn't nearly as bad as his brothers' tended to be, it was still pretty noticeable. It certainly caused some of the shopkeepers around to keep an eye on him, and he couldn't really say that he was in law enforcement, because that in itself brought up the fact that there were no records of a Wallis McGregor on any muggle force. He thought about faking a more posh accent, but gave that up as he didn't think it'd get him anywhere.
As it was, he was currently visiting the university grounds and looking around. He had, once upon a time, wanted to attend, but that was well before Hogwarts and the incident with Jer's... uncle? He wasn't sure what to call the crazy wizard that had attacked his family, but he'd looked up the records and figured it was better that the man was gone. Still, it gave him a good chance to enjoy walking around and visiting the university. At the moment, he was busy grabbing a coffee and walking out. The weather was getting cooler, and while the heat of summer hadn't quite left, it was still not exactly warm.
Blowing on his cup, he took an experimental sip and considered taking a seat at one of the tables outside. He had time to kill before he had to report in, and it wasn't like he was on an urgent case. Just a followup with a resident witch that swore she had seen suspicious activity around here. Wallis hadn't seen evidence of it, but if there had been, it was long gone. Vaguely he wondered if he should include that in his report, but figured that it was merely speculation and not actual fact. .

I went with you up to The place you grew up in We spent a week in the cold Just long enough to "Walden" it with you ✦Oxford Unıversıtч StudentXX✦Polч-Scı MαjorXX✦Polıtıcıαn-ın-Trαınıng ✿*゚‘゚・Anwen getting accepted into Oxford had felt like a dream come true for her and for her entire month she'd been on cloud nine. And then the second month came and she figured that despite how prestigious the university was, it was still just a regular university filled with regular uni students. Particularly the ones she'd been warned would annoy her the most. Allot of students were generational, meaning they had parents, grandparents, even uncle and aunts that had gone to there and then there were students like her who were so-called "transplants" meaning they were the first to go here. And even in her case the first to go to university period. So she dealt with some ribbing here or there, a few off color jokes, even a few prods at her accent since she'd kept the bulk of her Welsh since moving to England. But she generally let it all go because it wasn't important to her, she could handle herself and they were mostly harmless. Then her dormmates decided to revert back to primary school and play pranks on her things like glue in her desk, cutting holes in her socks and tops, and at one point hiding her laptop charger for nearly three days causing her to have to go to the library after the first day to complete her assignments. She couldn't go to her advisor since she didn't have physical proof so she had to outsmart them. And she did but probably not in a way they expected. Anwen had been needing a campus job anyway (scholarships only paid so much) and a few advisors had been graduating so combined with her cv and wonderful interview skills (thank god for debate club, she never thought she'd say that!) she became a resident advisor over the summer and for her second year. Which had a few pleasant perks including her own room and a certain level of authority over the girls who still lived in the same building. It was a petty revenge but it was still pretty sweet, plus though the pay was small it was nothing to really scoff at. It allowed her small treats such as getting coffee and a pastry not from the cafeteria but from a nearby cafe. She was enjoying her chai nearly all of it gone as she absentmindedly had sipped from it as she finished up an outline for an essay she'd have to type later with her scone pretty much untouched. Anwen had noticed the outside seating filling up rather quickly and was thankful she had gotten there early to snag a decent spot using the extra chair to hold her bag. She heard a nose coming from behind her and looked over to see a pair rudely nudge by someone heading for the last available table causing her to frown. Just because you want a table doesn't mean you have to be such a butt (or a wadded used tampon as her brother might say). She cleared her throat to possibly get his attention. "Excuse me? If you need a table, you can share mine. I don't have allot of stuff." Anwen offered before realizing she had her homework spread over a majority of the table and her bag still in the other chair. She flushed as she realized her contradiction and hurriedly made space moving her papers and her bag nearly toppling her empty cup onto her notebook in the process. *゚‘゚・✿You, you must have been looking for me Sending smoke signals Pelicans circling Burning trash out on the beach

Wallis had just enough tact not to immediately show off his rather colourful vocabulary (thanks in part to Leon) when several people had roughly brushed by him to take the seat he'd been making his way over to. Instead, he shook his head, rather glad that his brother wasn't in attendance as Leon (and honestly, Jer too) likely would have said something rude and told the people to piss off. As it was, Wallis was left standing with his cup until he heard someone near him offer a seat at her table. Turning, he blinked and noticed a girl who was clearing off space enough for him to sit. Blushing slightly, he gave her a small smile and a nod as he took a seat. "Erm, thanks fer tha'. I din't fink tha' th' place would fill up so fas'."
Looking at the table, he realized that there was more than enough there that indicated the girl was still in school. Which, he supposed, made sense. He just hadn't heard an accent like hers since Glynn had left school. He nodded toward the work, cocking his head curiously as he studied the covers of the books. "Ya goin' ta th' university 'ere? That's quite an achievemen'. Wot's yer major?"

It was definitely different from the ones she was used to at home from, it slightly reminded her of Jesse's but with more of an Oliver Twist (that was an unintended but serendipitous pun). "It's no problem! Really, I'd feel bad if I didn't at least offer." she informed with a grin. She noticed his looks at her work and worried for a moment she really had spilled something on it when he asked if she went to the university and her major. In her brain, her brother was yelling that she lie and say she went to one of the nearby smaller colleges as well as pick a false major. That he was a stranger and definitely not entitled to her personal life but. Well Wren wasn't really here for one and two, he seemed nice! That totally sounded like something a kidnapped victim would say but it's true! Besides, it looked like he had his own work to do anyhow it was possible they were both students. "I do and um, thanks. It came as a pretty big shock to me too." Anwen snickered. "I'm a political science major. I'm hoping to y'know, one day possibly run for office or something like that. Haven't thought it completely through yet." she admitted with a small sheepish grin. *゚‘゚・✿You, you must have been looking for me Sending smoke signals Pelicans circling Burning trash out on the beach

Wallis smiled as he rested his cup on the table. It was certainly a nice thing to just relax. He wasn't wanting to think about the paperwork that he likely had back at the office, and since he was kind of avoiding going back so soon, he appreciated her offer. When she mentioned her major, he looked at her books with consideration. Definitely different than magical politics for sure. He couldn't imagine that he'd ever want to get into it, but that was because he just wasn't the type. Plus, he doubted he'd be elected into any public office considering his background. Not many Cockneys managed to do that, after all. "I couldn' even imagine doin' tha' meself. Certainly no' fer a career. I wen' inta law enforcemen' instead."
Well, law enforcement was a neutral way of putting it. He certainly didn't think that she'd believe him if he stated he was a wizard and worked tracking down magical threats for a living. That'd be awkward, and likely break the Statute of Secrecy that it seemed like his family was constantly breaking. After all, Michael, while related, shouldn't have known about magic when he met Jer, and Michael certainly shouldn't have mentioned it to Joi. "Well, ya go' a lotta time ta figure i' ou'. No' too much, bu' that's somethin' I figure ya can use ta go places. A' leas', that's wot I fink, anyway." He looked around the cafe area, thinking that it certainly was a nice campus to go to school at. Made him wonder what he had originally had wanted to do before he got his mind stuck on going into what he did. Maybe something like a scientist or doctor like Michael was? He'd certainly still be in school, and now he wondered how many years the woman had left. "Now I gotta ask 'ow many years ya go' lef'. Ya can' be tha' many years outta secondary school, wite?"

She didn't get out too much outside of class and now work but she occasionally enjoyed strolling and window shopping either with a friend or by herself if she was in the mood. She then returned to herself when he lauded her saying he couldn't imagine himself in the role while also mentioning that he was in law enforcement causing her eyes to widen slightly. So maybe he was a criminal justice major? That was pretty cool actually. "Wow, that sounds exciting! So are you studying to be like, a policeman, a detective, a lawyer...?" she trailed off animatedly beaming in interest. Their careers were slightly intertwined, and though he looked a bit older she was sure they could run into each other in the same department building. Anwen nodded along finally nibbling on her now cold scone as her table guest advised that she had plenty of time to figure out what she could do with her degree and even mentioned she could go places which causing her to pink a little but try to hide it with her hair. She was caught off guard however when he asked her how many years out of secondary she was and already she could hear Wren cracking his knuckles in what he thought was an intimidating stance (really it just made her feel bad for his poor tendons and whatever physiotherapist he'd have to see in his thirties or forties). "Um. A bit odd that you'd ask that before even asking my name, don't you think?" she couldn't help pointing out, pushing some of her hair back behind an ear. "But if all goes right I have two more years, not counting this one, left here. And my name's Anwen, Anwen Argall by the by." she added hoping he'd also give his own so she could stop referring to him like a bad mystery protagonist. *゚‘゚・✿You, you must have been looking for me Sending smoke signals Pelicans circling Burning trash out on the beach

Wallis looked a bit sheepish as the girl asked if he was studying to be in law enforcement. It... wasn't exactly wrong, but it wasn't quite right. Not since he got out of Auror training a bit ago, anyway. Still, he rubbed the back of his neck as he answered. "Detective, actually. An' I'm no' in school. 'Aven't been fer a bi'. Jus' go' outta trainin' a few years ago." Hopefully she didn't try to ask where he worked, or how he managed to complete school so fast. That'd be awkward, since he wasn't sure how he'd answer that.
When she stated that it was odd that he was asking for how long she was in school before he actually knew her name, he blushed. He could already hear Leon in his head chastising him for it, and Joi too, for that matter. Heck, every relative was currently doing a running commentary on that question, and he mentally shrugged them off before he replied. "Actually, yeah, I prolly shoulda asked tha' firs'. That'd be me mistake. Sorry 'bout tha'." He then extended his hand, since she had finally given her name, though he was trying to figure out where he'd heard her last name from. "Wallis. Wallis McGregor. An' that's pretty wicked, only 'aving a bi' of time lef'. Gives ya plenty ta figure stuff ou' an' all."
Suddenly it clicked, and he blinked. That had to be coincidence, right? There was no way that his brother's friend was related to Anwen. It was too wild, plus the odds that astronomically low that she'd have magical relatives. "Um, if ya don' mind me askin', ya don' 'appen ta kna a Wren Argall, do ya?"

Hopefully he meant an actually licensed detective and not like a private one but then that'd be sort of rude to judge. She was mostly shocked that he said he'd gotten out of his training years ago when he barely looked a handful older than her. Maybe he was a prodigy? Maybe he skipped a grade or two, she'd know some like that. "Wow, you must have worked really hard to accomplish that so quickly." she acknowledged trying to remember just how many years you had to be a regular cop before applying for the detective's exam. In the midst of her thinking he then apologized for jumping the gun so to speak and brought out a hand to shake while finally introducing himself. Grinning widely, she shook his hand (while trying not to think of his blush) as he congratulated her for getting so far which then caused her to start blushing. Then Wallis surprised her asking if she knew Wren forcing an aborted snort out of her much to her mortification. "I do since he happens to be my older brother." she answered truthfully though now her mind was going a mile a minute. It was no wonder he looked so young and just got out of his "detective" training, he was magic! Even though he was older he still looked a bit too young to have gone to school with Wren (unless he was in his first or so year when her brother was graduating) but her brother must've made quite the impression if Wallis remembered him. "This is so bizarre! Did you go to school with him or um, were you in his house or something like that?" Anwen asked propping her chin on top of her hand. *゚‘゚・✿You, you must have been looking for me Sending smoke signals Pelicans circling Burning trash out on the beach
