Ootori_K There was a subtle pause, and a quiet flicker of a calculation behind those rimless glasses. "Surely you don't think I invested my time and attention with no expectation of return on my end. It would have been a poor investment on my part if I'd accrued no interest at all," Kyouya pointed out, using her unwitting metaphor to speak in the language he was most comfortable in. It was much easier for him to talk around the feelings, rather than acknowledge them directly. "On the contrary; the reward outweighed the risk. While the eventual results were not necessarily as predicted, I'm still satisfied with the overall investment." I'm glad to have you as a close friend, 'Lana.He studied her thoughtfully. "So, are things still 'messed up'?" he asked her directly. "Or is there anything else I should be asking you about, aside from the nature of your potential new investment?" A quiet smile curved the corners of his mouth. It wasn't that he hadn't noticed that she'd been oddly preoccupied lately, but he hadn't been fully briefed on the details ...
"I'm glad." She said softly before her face colored at the mention of Kasuka.
"Oh well, no. Things aren't messed up anymore. You've pretty much cleared everything up." She laughed softly. "And as for the nature of my new potential investment," Strawberry couldn't help but smirk as she used his phrase. "It is a little complicated, though no more than any other relationship." The blonde worried her lip as she thought of the best way to tackle this.
"He's a guest, you've met him before but under the guise of a young red haired princess, Furi." The hostess explained, green eyes watching Kyouya for his reaction. "He says he loves me. How, I don't know, he barely knows me. But he walked away from his family and fiancée for me." The blondes brows furrowed and she sighed. "I feel bad about that. I mean, I didn't ask him to, but I did tell him he couldn't declare such feelings or kiss me when he was engaged, it was wrong." Strawberry sat quietly for a moment. "I do like him though. It's not love and I don't know if it ever will be, but I think I'd like to explore it." She was so glad to have someone to talk to about this. It had been weighing down on her. Not just because of the emotional entanglements, but also because she didn't understand the customs of Japanese families or the severity of Kasuka walking away from everything. But Kyouya did.

Strawberry Filter Strawberry smiled softly. She had known Kyouya for awhile now and could read between his tax accountant speech. And she was quite grateful he felt that way.
"I'm glad." She said softly before her face colored at the mention of Kasuka.

Truth be told, the young man's disguise, if disguise it was, had been rather effective. It was rare that Kyouya was fooled -- though admittedly, he'd had no close contact with Miss Furi -- or rather, whoever this young man actually was. He filed that away for later examination, to determine what clues he had missed. A deep, thoughtful mood settled on him as he mulled over her words. "He walked away from his family and his fiancee? That's interesting. He must have plenty of motivation to do so, if what he told you was true. I take it the arrangement was not to his liking." Kyouya Ootori was no believer in love at first sight, but he could see where a blend of unhappiness in a situation and a meeting with someone better might cause that sort of reaction. It wasn't likely a path he'd take, but people didn't always make logical sense. "Given that he's already done it -- again, assuming he told you the truth -- I don't see how it would harm you to explore it. Unless there's something more complex going on with his family behind the scenes. It's very difficult to fully sever familial ties." Be careful? That thoughtful mood didn't depart, rather it deepened further. "Whose family is he part of, anyway?"

Strawberry nodded as he spoke. "I don't know much, he didn't seem comfortable talking about it, but I did meet his fiancée." After he kissed me. "But I still thought he was a girl then." The blonde sighed. "I was thrown for a loop, and got the distinct impression his fiancée would break various bones if she caught me with him."
Strawberry raised an eyebrow at his question. There was no doubt in her mind he would do research on Kasuka. The hostess had to think a moment to remember his surname. "Furikakuchou. I think that's it at least, he only told me once. And please, be nice." She added, green eyes soft as she looked at him. She knew how protective Kyouya could be.
((I don't know much about Kasuka, but you can totally PM Steve and I'm sure she'll give you whatever K would be able to find online about his family.))

It was not at all Kasuka who concerned Kyouya Ootori at the moment. It was actually his fiancée. Things could get complicated, and dragged into the host club. That, he couldn't permit. Her soft, beseeching gaze met with that trademark calm smile. "Why would I be otherwise? He's a guest of ours, as I recall. Though I'm not sure how Tamaki will feel about you dating a guest," Kyouya pointed out. "It's generally not done." There was no unstated no in that statement; simply a careful warning to remember her position -- and that of course it would be a difficult secret to keep from the hosts, if she decided to go that route. (( I'll ping her later. Overwhelmed with Too Many Plots right now. ))

Strawberry gave the boy a look that clearly said "because I know you better than you'd like to admit sometimes.
"I've already considered that. If I decide to move forward with this......whatever it is I'll be clear that the host club is not a place for affectionate displays and relationship or not I'm still a hostess." The blonde wasn't one to be governed by the whims of a boy anyways. But she was sure Kasuka would understand.
"Thank you." She added, giving Kyouya a smile. "I know dealing with drama isn't the high points of your time spent, but I appreciate this."
((No worries, it's cool. She's been sick so I'm not sure when she'll be back anyways.
And I've already discussed the hostess thing with her so any other "coupley" scenes will be done outside of the host club in the MT. Cause I know Shiny would like a front row seat lol.))

There was a long pause -- not an uncomfortable one, just a quiet one -- that settled between the two of them as the water continued to drip off the roof and into the plants below. "Ah." Kyouya turned to her, and there might have been just the hint of a smile under those glasses. "I've been meaning to tell you. My father seems to think we ought to visit a partner's facility in Dallas over the winter break. I suppose I should ask you if there are any American customs I should make very sure not to accidentally step on?" The bell rang at this moment, and he began to pack up what was left of his lunch, that smile still lurking in his eyes.

Strawberry couldn't help the snort of laughter that escaped her. "Well, if a girl invites you to a rodeo, don't go." The blonde gave him a pointed look and stood to pack her bag. "And you are allowed to politely decline any chewing tobacco offered to you, it's not rude." She added. "Other than that I think you'll be fine." Strawberry teased as they headed back toward the school.
