It's good to see that you're no longer seriously thinking of leaving Gaia, though I can definitely understand how your urge to leave was pretty strong. I myself have just come back from an 8 month hiatus on Gaia only to find that all of my old friends don't come online anymore, so if you want to chat then I'm happy to.
Have you ever tried the general or even the extended discussion forum? They would be a good start in terms of socialising.
Or maybe I'm just rambling, ahaha...
