Pae'il Name: Namaqua Power Category: 7, Gatekeeper Chosen Power Name: Matter surfing Power Description: Namaqua can manipulate the minerals of the earth in order to "skate" across the ground and move more quickly. Weakness: The more he uses it, the more tired he gets. Doesn't work with aquatic minerals. Link to most recent completed RP: Shortly after arriving with his goddess, Artemis, at the Great Tree, a teenaged Namaqua felt compelled to take part in this "ceremony" in order to become united with this Faun community. As his goddess had all but disappeared in recent days, Namaqua took it as a sign that he and the others in her retinue were to integrate themselves into this society.
He'd almost tripped over the twig, fallen from the heights of Laisidhiel, and he decided that it was a sign; this was the twig for him. It was skinny and difficult to carve, but Namaqua hard persisted and gotten his whole name on there. Even all three As. He was a little sad to see it burned to ashes, but he figured the spirits would appreciate his handiwork either way.
On the day of the ceremony, Namaqua stood nervously among other Faun, teens and adults alike. When his turn came, he stepped forward to receive the ceremonial cup, which was really more of a bowl, to imbibe the little seed that his twig had made. He sipped at the liquid, marveling that it could pass his lips cool but then burn like wine on the way down.
Eventually he'd consumed it all, seed and everything, and the warmth spreading through his body intrigued him. He ran a hand through his mop of hair, trying to cool himself, and wondered what happened next when the announcement came.
"Gatekeeper!"
Wait, what did that mean? Namaqua looked around, confused, only met with smiling faces and applause instead of answers. Someone had gestured to his seat, so he can only assume that his part of the ritual was finished. He'd figure out what to do next after this was all over.

Pae'il Name: Vendimia Power Category: 1, Shaman Chosen Power Name: Blood Sacrifice Power Description: Vendimia can spill some of her own blood on the soil to either bless or curse what grows there. Weakness: Must be her own blood. Can't take back the blessing/curse once it's done. Obviously if she does it too many times in a row she'll have blood loss problems. >> Link to most recent completed RP:
Vendimia shifts nervously from one hoof to the other as she stands in front of the whole Faun council. She'd gone through the first part of the ritual already; there's no turning back now. She'd found a branch of this Great Tree and carved her name into it. Luckily most of the runes of her name were comprised mainly of straight lines. Then her branch had been burned and the ashes collected. And now she's about to finish the ceremony.
As her name is called, she steps toward the pool. Chieftan Rais gives her a small wooden bowl with a little glowing seed in it, and she'd figured out by watching everyone else that she's to imbibe it.
Vendimia makes a little face. Do I really want to do this? Her hands tremble nervously as she searches the faces of the Fauns gathered for her friends, the ones who had come on the ship from so far away. Going through with this ritual would integrate her irrevocably into this new community of Fauns. They were so different from her, but still her brethren. There'd be no going back after this.
But what was there to go back to? Vendimia remembers sadly their homeland, the home they'd loved and had had to leave so quickly. She hadn't even really gotten a chance to say goodbye to everything. She sighs sadly, then blushes as she realizes everyone was staring at her expectantly. Oh. Right.
She stares at the little green seed floating in dew, and sloshes it around in the wooden bowl for a little bit. Well, might as well keep moving forward. She upends the bowl into her mouth, swallowing its contents in one gulp. An interesting sensation of warmth and....comfort fills her, spreading from her stomach outward.
"Shaman!" she hears a voice call out. What did that mean? As she steps down from the ceremonial stage she catches a glimpse of Lady Vanya smiling at her. At least she seemed friendly. It was someone else's turn now, so Vendimia figures she'd ask someone about what a Shaman was later.

Pae'il Name: K'anpo Rimpoche Power Category: 6. Prodigy Chosen Power Name: Regeneration Power Description: Amputated body parts will regenerate. Weakness: The smaller the body part, the quicker it will regenerate. Legs and arms may take a while and there's a chance he may go into a comatose state to do so. Heads do not regenerate, because if he's beheaded, he'd be killed. Although it's never been tested, but maybe a head can grow a new body? If he becomes a Luminary, I'd like for his regeneration to include full-body regeneration the same as any other Time Lord. Link to most recent completed RP:Well, if this didn't just beat all?
The pegasus Fauny sat patiently, waiting for his turn in this ceremony thing. Normally, he wouldn't seek this sort of thing out, as he tended up wind up a part of more odd ceremonies than he wished; pagan rites, marriages, even some questionable summoning rituals... But all that aside, this one seemed quite normal in comparison. Even, dare he say it? Nice.
Well, it was interesting at least.
Besides, if this was to be their new home, then best not to offend their gracious hosts by refusing to take part. As he understood it, this was not only a ceremony to grant new abilities to those who took part, but it was their public, solemn oath of loyalty to the group. A tribe as it were. He had to say, they probably owed them that much for a new home, food, and a roof over their heads. Even if that roof was a tree.
As instructed, he'd gone out and found a branch and carved his name into it. Then, he'd returned to the Tree to hand it over to the Chieftain (brushing aside the odd looks as he attempted to read the name carved there). There was some sort of sacrifice involved, he'd heard, and been a bit nervous about that bit until he realized it was just the branch being sacrificed. Ah good. There were certain things he wasn't sure he was ready to sacrifice just yet.
And now he was being returned a bowl, with some sort of fluid and a little green seed in the bottom? How quaint! Err...this wasn't going to poison him, was it? It seemed like a lot of work to go through just for that, so it was probably safe. Probably. With only a moment's hesitation, he shot a cheeky grin at his friend nearby, lifting the bowl as if in toast, then tipped it back quickly. He hadn't been expecting the clear, crisp taste; like mountain spring water, with a hint of something sweet. Nor the warmth that spread through his form from his core, to the very tips of his hooves and his fingers, even his wingtips. He lowered the bowl with a pleasant shiver, blinking rapidly and trying to comprehend what just happened.
"Prodigy!"
The announcement didn't particularly aid in comprehension, but there was a general feeling of approval from the group, so K'anpo smiled took a half-bow. Apparently, he would be reporting to the Chief's second-in-command for instruction and guidance in his new role. That's good, cause he wasn't entirely sure what a 'prodigy' was supposed to do.-----

Pae'il Name: Vinyl Scratch Power Category: 2. Healer Chosen Power Name: Healing Wubs Power Description: Vinyl can create vibrations that wash over a Pae to provide spiritual healing effects, including cleansing taint. Weakness: The greater the vibrations produced, the more effective the healing. There is little she can do on her own for this effect, so she needs an object capable of producing sound waves or other sub-vocal vibrations. Not effective on physical wounds. Link to most recent completed RP:
The white Fauny's leg fidgeted, making her appear anxious or impatient, but really, she was just trying to take it all in. Lifting her shades to rest behind her horn on her head, Vinyl blinked her crimson eyes rapidly, looking from one Faun to another. So, everyone did this, huh? Well, she supposed, everyone who wanted to take part. They hadn't pressured any of the Ponies...err, Faunies to do so. They'd simply made the offer, as they would to their own.
It was a nice welcoming gesture.
Of course, it was more serious than just a simple courtesy extended. Even Vinyl grasped that much. They'd made it clear, what with all the talk about this being a choice binding them to the Tree, to defend it to the death, and all that. Okay, she got it; didn't mean she wanted to dwell on the morbid nature of the thought.
She'd left so much behind to come here. To be quite honest, the former DJ wasn't really sure what to do with her new life here. She couldn't continue to follow her passion, not in a land without electricity to run her mix tables...which she also no longer had. She'd been in a bit of a sombre mood for a time, though at least 'Tavi had tried to cheer her up. This decision marked a turning point for her; the choice to become a part of something more and also find a new direction for her life. Vinyl wasn't just going to mope about for the rest of her days.
So, she'd followed the lead of the Faun, finding a curved, fallen branch and carving her name into the wood in stylized script. Then, she'd handed the branch over to the dark female Faun with spots. "Hope that's right," she'd commented, not entirely sure about what she was doing. The Seer had only smiled and traced her fingers over the carving before nodding. Why had she...oh.
And so, here she was, waiting her turn patiently until finally her name was called and she was handed a bowl filled with liquid, with a tiny glowing seed at the bottom. She peered down into it for a moment, seeming lost in deep thought. Then, she flashed her trademark grin and quipped, "Bottom's up!" before draining the bowl. The seed slid down smoothly, a gentle warmth spreading throughout her body almost immediately. She closed her eyes, reveling in the feeling, at once reassured and comforted that even though things had changed, it would all be alright. She didn't know how she knew, just that she did.
"Healer!"
The Chieftain's voice echoed through the chamber, and voices lifted in approval and congratulations. Vinyl blinked, slowly processing what was said. Healer? Her? Well...that was unexpected. She listened, being instructed that she would report to Lady Vanya for her instruction and discovery of her new powers. The Fauny started to look around, wondering who...oh, the dark female from before had turned to smile at her and nod as if in answer to her unspoken question.
Woah. Kinda' freaky...but neat.
Grinning again, Vinyl had to admit, for the first time since coming to this new land, she was actually excited now for what was to come.

Pae'il Name: Flitter Power Category: 4, Primemorphic Chosen Power Name: Cloud Creatures Power Description: Flitter is able to manipulate clouds at a molecular level, moving them and morphing them into small creatures and constructs that can assist her in her day-to-day life or attack if necessary.
She often likes creating constructs to sit on and float around on... Weakness: Flitter must work with clouds that are already present; this isn't cloud creation!
Clouds are fairly easy to dissipate, and these are of no exception. A few swings at her cloud creatures, and they will likely vanish. Those she uses for other purposes tend to stick around a bit longer. Link to most recent completed RP:
Flitter missed her homeland.
She knew that she hadn't a choice but to leave, but Laisidhiel was nothing like where she was born, and it was leaving her having a lot of trouble adjusting. She didn't like living in a tree. She missed being in the clouds, she missed running free in Ponyville, she missed when things made more sense and when there were not other types of "Faun" beyond Earth, Unicorn, Pegasus, and the rare Alicorn.
So she stuck with what made sense.
That meant that she closely followed the words of Princess Celestia, and on occasion, Princess Luna. They were the points of authority here, and they were the ones she would be able to entrust her own safety to.
Needless to say, she was a bit surprised that their idea of keeping them safe seemed to be subscribing to the inane habits of those in the Tree. Still, if her Fauny brethren were siding with them, she wanted to, too. It was rather important to Flitter to remain with her fellow Fauny, and if her fellow Fauny were solidifying their alignment to the element of Earth and this odd Circle, she would join them, writing her own name on a sturdy branch she found on the ground. Flitter.
Today, they burned the branch over some ceremonial fire and placed the remains in a bowl. Flitter waited patiently, watching, almost hoping that the branch had turned out to be a dud and she would not be granted a seed. It seemed her own hope was a failure, the seed beginning to form in the bowl with a slight glow as it came together.
She was offered the bowl.
Flitter wanted to run away, only her feet keeping her rooted to the ground. She didn't want to, but she had to. She knew that she needed to drink this and unite with her fellow Fauny, even if she would only ever listen to Princess Celestia and not ... this Rais character. Whatever he said, if Celestia did not agree, it did not matter. Flitter would not listen.
But she would listen to the words of her leaders in joining those who would defend the tree--hopefully most definitely not with her life--and swallowed the seed down, accepting the green warmth that enveloped her and absorbed into her.
Primemorph, they said. That was what she was. She did not know what it meant.
But she would learn and follow.

Pae'il Name: Cheyenne Power Category: 7, Gatekeeper Chosen Power Name: Reality Gate Power Description: Cheyenne has the ability to create small gates into other realities.
If she were to become a Luminary, I would like this expanded into the ability to create small gates into any reality. Weakness: As an adult, Cheyenne has no control over the reality that shows up in her gate. It literally could be anything from the select group her powers draw from.
These gates only last a set amount of time, and that amount of time lessens the more people that come with her. It's not very useful for hiding armies--it's likely the gate would close as she was trying to get everyone in. For small groups, they likely have an hour to a few hours, depending on the size of the group and her own power reserves.
The more she does this, the less long she can hold the gate open, and if it closes, they're stuck until she can properly generate a gate back to their own reality. Oops.
Cheyenne, at this stage, can only hop to realities that contain similarities to the one they are currently in. The more dissimilar, the more effort she would have to put in, and excessively dissimilar ones she has no ability to jump to at all (unless she were to gain this ability as a Hollowed or Luminary). Link to most recent completed RP:
Cheyenne adjusted the crown on her head.
She wasn't entirely certain what she was doing here, pledging so much to a Chieftain. Would this be worth it, in the end? There were so many questions she could ask that had no real answers, and honestly, they likely never would. For once she took this path, she would never know what would have happened if she hadn't taken this path, and hadn't aligned herself to the Chieftain. She bit her lip, shifted in her seat, tapped her fingers against her legs.
She had handed in something the other day herself, a large branch with leaves still on it that she carved her name into, a 'Cheyenne' branch that was given to the Circle to burn into the ritual fire pit. She had spoken to the Chieftain himself, knowing it would be best if she went to the one who had the most control of the Circle, and hoped in her heart that he favored her enough to give her a great power.
Then again, did he really have control over the powers they received?
There was a seed in a bowl of water, and she wasn't sure what the seed was supposed to represent, but she drunk it anyway, closing her eyes and feeling the seed make its way down her throat. It felt like it bloomed, swimming through her veins as she waited for the results. While she wasn't quite aware of the glow that lit up around her herself, it others were, eyes turning to train on her in such a way that made her a little nervous. Was there something wrong? She touched to the branches on her head and readjusted the circlet she wore, hoping to Laisidhiel they were not finding that she was unworthy of power.
"Cheyenne, you are a Gatekeeper," was the announcement, bringing herself back out of her worried state as she looked up to the Chieftain. Her? Really? A gatekeeper... What did that involve? What kinds of gates did she keep? She turned it over in her head, sampling it, as Rais told her she would be following the one named Captain Gulliver. She lifted a head to nod to him, before murmuring a soft,
"Thank you, Chieftain."
And that was how she became part of the tree's defenses.

Pae'il Name: Lemon Hearts Power Category: 3. Geomancer Chosen Power Name: Minature Terrakinetic Contructs: Little Helpers Power Description: She can make small garden gnome constructs out of dirt/clay/soil that will do as she tells them for as long as they're animated. They are only the size of garden gnomes. Weakness: A certain level of concentration is required to maintain the little constructs for a long duration, otherwise they're only useful for small things. They can be easily stepped on and destroyed, or washed away with water (turned to mud). They do not last forever, and the more of them there are, the shorter their "lifespan" is. Link to most recent completed RP:
Nervous, but anxious all the same, Lemon Hearts sat among the few Fauny who chose to join the island's locals in the defense of their home, way of life and freedoms, and undergo the Spirit Blessing ceremony. Days ago, she'd written her name on a fallen twig she nearly tripped over, and burned it on the ritual fire pit. She'd given the ashes to Lady Vanya because she was the most approachable of the new leadership. It would have been preferred to have Princess Celestia orchestrating this, but as it were, her princess did have the same level of authority in this foreign land.
Tonight was the official ceremony. She, with her peers, would drink from specially made bowls, and receive her hand-picked blessing and new power.
"Please be a good one!" she whispered to herself as she crossed her fingers and put the bowl to her lips. She caught a glimpse of the Faun Chieftain and his Circle before swallowing the glowing seed quintessence. They looked so happy and proud that it made her happy and proud. She felt a sense of belonging and acceptance in this moment. She felt important.
As the seed slid down her throat, she could feel it. It was warm, and it continued to warm her entire body from the inside out and she glowed a pale green temporarily as the quintessence bonded with her soul. For that brief moment, she felt one with the spirits and the Earth and Faun. As she came back down to reality, she noticed everyone was staring at her. She smiled when she realized everyone was eager to learn of the gifts from the Spirits each of them received.
When Rais announced that she is now a Geomancer, and she'd be in Alistair's squad, she was excited, but a little scared. The Grand Geomancer was rarely around, so he was a bit scary and intimidating. "Thank you," she said modestly, bowing to her Chief and the Circle before returning to her seat to watch the next Faun.
Now she was eager and bouncing to get started and learn what she could do with geomancy.

Prodigy Chosen Power Name: Regeneration Power Description: Amputated body parts will regenerate Weakness: The smaller the body part, the quicker it will regenerate. Legs and arms may take a while. Heads do not regenerate, because if he's beheaded, he'd be killed. Although it's never been tested, but maybe a head can grow a new body? Like his companion, Doctor was not one to enter into local rituals lightly. That's how marriages, sacrificial offerings and general mayhem usually started. But this ritual was different. This island, and this Tree were his new base of operations, so to speak -- his home. He wanted to fit in, do as the simple folk do. And swear allegiance to these Faun who so graciously opened up their home to the Faunies.
He'd protect his kind with his life. He'd protect all Pae'il, if he had to. But he still needed to meet them all.
Scooping up the ashes of his sacrificed branch, he chuckled to himself, thinking this such a simple ceremony full of metaphor and imagery. Little did he know the magic involved was real, and binding. As the ashes formed the glowing seed in the dew in the bowl, Doctor was mesmerized. "Brilliant!" he whispered with excitement. Without any hesitation, unlike K'anpo, he gulped it down immediately. "Delicious."
The warming sensation that spread through his body was satisfying. Like a big magical hug with a reassuring whisper of acceptance and joy.
"Prodigy"
Huh? "What?" He wasn't quite sure what that meant, because he considered himself somewhat of a prodigy already. It wasn't disappointing, but it wasn't the fireworks and "master of the universe" type ability he'd hoped for. Then again, he wasn't really sure what to expect, so he just went with it. His companion received the same declaration, so at least they could help each other there.

Pae'il Name: Rosewing Power Category: 1. Shaman Chosen Power Name: Abacomancy Power Description: She can wave her hand over dust, sand, ash, any small particles and they will rearrange themselves to divine messages about the future. Weakness: This is a very tricky ability and Rosewing will have to learn how to interpret the messages. They won't always be something useful either. The more dust/sand/ash she uses, the further into the future the message relates to, but it doesn't necessarily mean its the message she wants. The energy usage will be minimal, but the more times in a row she uses it, the more absurd the message will be. Link to most recent completed RP:
Rosewing watched the yellow unicorn Fauny drink her seed and dew with intense interest. This ritual felt barbaric and primitive. Carving our name on a twig? Burning it? Drinking ashes and dew? Yeah, was a hard pill to swallow. Pun intended. The green glow that surrounded the unicorn was not surprising, as that was Lemon Heart's unicorn magic color anyway. Where were the fireworks and confetti, bright lights and booming trumpets if this was such a big deal?
The Chief called Rosewing's name after Lemon Hearts sat down. She stood up, fluttered her wings a little to knock the dust off and approached the Chief. She reached out to receive her very own unique ceremonial bowl (big deal) and looked at the contents. A clear liquid and glowing seed. It seemed surreal and a little stupid.
She stood there listening to what the elders of this society had to say in regards to how important this is, how she's now bound to the Faun and has the duty and obligation to serve and protect their way of life, and to protect the Tree with her own life, should it come down to it.
Wait? I gotta die to save this tree?
Rosewing nearly dropped the bowl and fled right then and there. But something stopped her. She looked at the faces of her fellow Faunies watching her with such excitement. Why did they care so much? Another glance at the Chief. Then his Second, then the Seer and Geomancer and Ranger Captain. They were there to protect and teach them. She remembered something she heard in the initial meeting with the Chief, about how old the Faun society is, and steeped in tradition and protective of their own they are. Maybe this wasn't such a bad thing. And what if this seed thing was just for show anyway, what's to lose, right?
She took a deep breath then swallowed the contents of the bowl in one go. The fluid was sweet, but not overly so, but the seed was an experience she did not expect. She actually felt it radiate and cover her whole body. She too felt that connection to the Earth Spirit and she knew in that moment she'd made the right decision, even if she didn't know why.
"Shaman," she heard from the Chief and she looked quizzically at him. Then he said she'd be learning from Lady Vanya, the Faun Seer, and Lady Vanya would help her discover and hone her new ability. That felt surprisingly comforting.

Pae'il Name: Lust Power Category: 5. Terrakin Chosen Power Name: Eye of the (Maltese) Tiger Power Description: Can transform into a blue tiger with ease Weakness: To be filled in when I wake up. Link to most recent completed RP:
Lust was rather nervous and rather scared, she had thought long and hard what side she wished to be on and in the end she decided to go with her father and his Faun's, it wasn't an easy choice but one she felt was right choice given how much she had spent around her father and how much she wanted to try and fit in with those who he knew as kin members. Lust also wasn't told when she was a child that the Faun's leader, Rais, wasn't a huge fan of Hybrid due to one reason or another and so seeing him face to face for the first time in her life was a really frightening event for her, feeling she was going to be thrown out once he set eyes on her.
She had burnt her twig in the ritual fire pit and proceeded to take the ashes towards Rais, knowing it was probably a stupid thing to do she didn't care, she wanted to be accepted here and goodness knows she was going to try and prove to him she belonged, hybrid or not! Lust handed him the bowl and awaited her fate, looking around and noticing others in the same situation and was a little relieved she wasn't the only one who was going through this, not that she knew she would be but it just felt a lot better doing it with several others at the same time then by herself.
Looking back at Rais she took another deep breath and let it out, taking the special bowl back moments later and silently prayed she would get a good power, a power she can use to protect the Faun she longed to be part of and with a small glance to her father who smiled at her which calmed her a little and then she proceeded to drink the seed quintessence feeling a warm sensation as it traveled down her throat and into her body. As it slowly took over her she glowed a little as the seed planted itself inside of her and closing her eyes she started to feel a power that was different to anything she had ever felt before, she couldn't really describe it but it was a power she prayed once more that she would be able to do good with and to help her fellow Faun out with when she needed to.
Opening her eyes a few moments later she looked up at Rais who was standing there and making her still seem so small and meek but once he said that she was to be a Terrakin she could of cried right there and then, not because of the fact she knew what a Terrakin was and was happy to be one but because of the simple fact that he actually didn't kick her out! It was the first step, though a small step, to actually being accepted here so she bowed a little and thanked him, turning around she left his sight, curious though to find out what a Terrakin is and yet excited to learn all about it.

Shaman Chosen Power Name: Spirit Speak Power Description: He can talk to the dead, the Faun who have died yet not yet passed over to the other side due to unfinished business but are happy to help with different things, give messages to others whom may need them etc. Weakness: He can't be bothered, when he goes into a trance to summon a spirit for help he needs complete and utter quite and full concentration or else it could mean a bad out come for him. Not only will the spirit may not help but there is a chance the spirit may also be a vengeful spirit looking to take on a body so it can cause havoc and also when he does this it also takes up a decent amount of energy depending on how long it will take to contact a spirit.
