Aegyl have long been part of humanity's past. The northern tribes often called them Valkeries, Midlanders called them Angels, and the Southern tribes often called them spirits. On all accounts, they were wrong. A very secluded race, the winged Aegyl have always kept contact with the people on the ground low. They are also tribal too, finding reasons to keep mobile in the clouds. Their tribes are likely to form a patriarchal society, while the rare matriarchal societies produce many of the finest warriors that the world has seen.

Their mobile nature is what makes them so unknown to the humans on the ground. Often they are mistaken for angels, valkeries, and the like because most tribes have a no ground contact law, and the sightings of these strange beings are high in the shining sky, on days with few of the clouds in sight.

Aegyl cloud cities are strange magical structures made to look like clouds. Often, warmongering tribes will make darker stormy clouds, and use lightning mages to disguise their attempted charge. More friendly communities are more like towering cumulus clouds. During the night, they often anchor to mountains, making enemies of the inhabitants of the local mountain as raiders take supplies and materials. This often puts them at odds with Dragons, one of the rare races that can give chase to the Aegyl. However, other mountainous races will always tell tales of the strange cloud fortresses of the winged warriors.

There has been the rare occasion that an Aegyl has been banished from the skies, often receiving a brand on their chest in Auran that will designate their tribe. These outcasts are not received by other tribes, and they will hide amongst the people of the ground, hiding their wings by folding them beneath bulky clothing.

Aegyl are a diverse race, with skins ranging from from very pale to dark. Their wings often are white, black, or a ruddy brown with painting representing their tribe. However, their eyes, another of the reasons humans see them as otherworldly, are often in shades of gold, or lilac. However, being of flight, they have always carried lighter equipment, and have over time developed into a quick and resourceful race, but with less of the strength of ground faring races. Their war bands often favor quick raiding tactics, since engaging in lasting combat has occasionally grounded a Aegyl for the last of their short life.

Favored Alignment: Most Aegyl are flighty like the winds they ride, so they often lean towards a chaotic alignment, but there are as many good as there are evil.
Aegyl Favored Class: Barbarian.
