I've seen the "pay-to-affiliate" thing before in art shop threads, charity threads, and user-event threads. They don't really work, and your captain is crazy if she thinks people are going to pay to put their banners in her guild.
It actually sounds like you care more about the guild than she does. Have you thought about buying it from her? I think you would make a better captain than her.

i've told her bluntly that people from another guild (this one) say that it's a bad idea, paying for it, and that she has no idea as to what she's doing.
plus, i have my own guild to take care of.
and i'm vice captain, so i could take it from her, but that's not a good idea, and i know that'd piss off a lot of the other members.
she did give up, but i (and one other) convinced her otherwise from selling it, and like i said, i don't think it's such a good idea anymore...it'll be hard to have her sell it again.
and i have my own guild to work with. set up nicely, according to The_Mistress_Of_Music here. the link is the banner, and my guild just got affiliated with BURN. woo!

Yeah, I checked it out already, glad you got affiliated.
You can only take a guild from the Captain if she hasn't logged in to Gaia for 60 days or more. However, if she tried selling it again, she would still piss off a bunch of guild members. If they're going to be angry that someone else gets put in charge, they are free to leave at any time. If gold's an issue, I would be glad to put forth some to help you.
Some people just start up a guild because they think it'll be easy and successful really fast. It's not easy, and unless you dedicate yourself to it, your guild activity will dry up really quick. If she wants her guild to be awesome, she should lead by example and be really active in the guild herself. Guild members really like when their Captain participates and pays attention to them. They keep coming back because there are new things happening and they feel like the crew really cares about them. That's how BURN got so successful.

i'm on every day (or Lianna), so between the two of us and kefka (occasionally midnight), there's at least some activity in my guild. better than before it got renovated. beforehand, it had none at all.
and yeah, the guild leader angered a lot of people when she tried to sell it the first time. probably would have been easier to have let her sell it and bring them to my guild, but oh well.

Well, if you ever decide to try and buy it from her because she messes it up, but don't have the gold, let me know and I'll buy it from her, then make you captain. I've always got some spare change lying around and I like seeing people who care about the guilds they're in.

now she's saying that the requirement is to be a member of the guild. i told her that said requirement is implied in an affiliation. slow going, though.
and if i did buy it, i'm not sure what i'd do with it. link it to my guild and make them true sister guilds? aie...

I would join it to purchase it. She can't transfer ownership to someone outside the guild, I believe.
If I were you, I would do exactly that. Since your guild is an academy roleplay type, why not convert the other guild into one as well? Then you could set them up as rival schools and have special events based on that, such as Halloween pranks or sports showdowns.

Was she the one who got all the subforums? when she went to sell it, she was going for 50k: 20k for the guild, and another 30 to make up for all the money she lost. right now, the guild's home page looks a lot better than before...mostly cuz she told me "fix it up" and that's what i'm doing (along with being in charge of guild affiliations and the RP subforum (cuz that's the first one i made ground rules for. almost all of the subforums have rules now. either i made them, or i clarified hers)). she still has added a couple of things in there, though. oh well.

At least she isn't demanding more. That's about what I was thinking of offering, at least if you were really interested in taking over it. I've seen people demand to be paid an equal amount to what's in the guild treasury as well as for the guild start-up fee and for each subforum it has. They don't get it, but that doesn't stop them for asking for it.

true. but she's not taking offers right now. i think i myself have put in 15k, so on the off chance i ever sold my guild, my base selling price would be 35k...ish (give or take how much i've actually donated)
but i don't plan on selling mine XD
