Mai Lee began to grow tired, she hadn't run so much since she was little and that was some time ago. But still she warily continued on running, she went down narrow ways that were between houses, broadening into bigger streets. With tactics like that she had lost some of the guards, but a good majority continued on. Mai turned slightly behind her, her hips turning as she looked back. Her hand formed a fist which had shot out in the direction behind her and a flame came out.

She soon learned that she didn't have good control of fire, and earth, but being this worn down had made her elements worse. Mai Lee burst through a house, scaring the people that were inside, but she couldn't care about them right now. Her motives were purely to loose the guards, then go to her mother. They had gone in after her, but a few had stopped as they heard the cries of the people in the house, and began to tend to them. Now only five guards had continued on with her, and they would be a lot easier to deal with.
Mai Lee jumped out of a window and in between the house and it's neighbor. She ran down the street a bit and then stopped, still giving her room while she turned around and took a stance. Her breathing was now heavy, but she believed she had enough gusto to take them on. "Come on, bring it."

The world will never change

Damian turned down a street in hopes of catching up with the Avatar but first thing was first. They had to get rid of the guards behind them. Akita swung her arms back to shoot flames at the guards. Damian did the same to make the flames longer, backing up the guards. The two turned a corner and found a spot behind an old dumpster. Their breathing was heavy from the running but Damian covered their mouths to silence the sound.

“This way!” A guard yelled. “They went this way!” Damian used his cloak to cover their heads from the guards. The footsteps got closer and then farther away. Even so, Damian waited until at least a few minutes after the footprints disappeared. Now that the Avatar was real, he knew he would be hearing it from his sister.

“Damian,” Akita said as Damian checked around the corner for guards, “we have to help her.” Damian knew she was talking about the Avatar but he ignored her. Right now, their lives were more important than an Avatar he thought didn’t exist in the first place let along have the Avatar be a girl. The only girl he wanted to protect was his sister and, when he found her, his mom as well. “Damian,” Akita said again. Damian turned to his sister and looked down at her red begging eyes.

“Akita, no.” Damian shook his head. He knew where this was going. In one easy moment, their lives could be in danger. They practically already were in danger thanks to the Avatar and Akita. “We don’t even know where she is let alone if she really is the Avatar.” Of course, the last part to him was a dumb thing to say. Clearly, it was obvious that the girl was the Avatar. No one could bend the elements the way she did.

“But you’re a great tracker. We can find her and help her.” Akita added. Again, Akita tried to beg with her eyes; this time she even tried to quiver her lip a little. A move Damian couldn’t help but cave to each time. Damian sighed checked the corner one last time before they were to head out.

“Fine,” he said as he turned back to her, “but if she doesn’t want our help then that’s it. We go our own way. Got it?” Akita nodded with a big smile. Damian still didn’t like the idea but his kid sister, somehow, had gotten him twisted around her little finger.

We have to fight for peace

Akita watched her brother followed footstep after footstep. One particular set of prints even led them through a house. But they didn’t go in. A few guards were trying to talk with the family to try and keep them quiet. The world still had to believe that the Avatar wasn’t alive. Just another trick to keep the citizens of each town in line. Damian forced his sister to duck as they walked past the door unnoticed. They would have to go around the house if they wanted to find the Avatar.

Around the back, Damian found more footprints heading in a different direction. Suddenly, guards were thrown back from the street. The guards in the house heard the commotion and ran out of the house. Akita twirled once and forced flames in a forward direction. Damian ran in front of her and punched out the remaining guards. Quickly, the two turned around and headed back to where the Avatar was.

“Avatar!” Akita yelled as she stopped around the corner, hoping she would stop. “We want to help!” Damian wanted to slap his sister. Just being in front of the Avatar was dangerous. He could sense more guards were coming. They needed to get out of their fast.

Taiyou had been knocked down, and when two guards came to help him he couldn't be more furious. He sat up, the rock now off his upper body and thrown to the side. The other prisoners had scattered, probably shocked of what had just happened. The guards had bent down, trying to help lift him up, but Taiyou was too furious to accept any kindness. "Get away from me!" He slashed his hand in the air and growled, his snarl more prominent as he sat up. Blood was coming out of his nose, as well as from a cut on his head which made his hair thick around that area.

He stood up on his own, taking one hand and holding onto his nose with it. "Round up these prisoners! Get more guards, I want all of these people tied down and investigated! Get more guards, call everyone! I want that girl, I want her dead!" He was yelling now, screaming at the top of his lungs to no one in particular, just bellowing out orders and expecting them to be obeyed. The two guards who stood behind him had saluted him, acknowledging his orders, but he ignored them, even as they both scurried to grab the remaining prisoners.

Mai Lee had taken a stance, hands in the air while her legs were apart, awaiting the guards onslaught. But a loud commotion came from behind them, which made the guards turn around.
Two people, a male and female, had just taken down some of their comrades. Two guards dissipated themselves from the group and went to attack; and Mai Lee took that shot.

She shot forward, quickly leaping up into the air. Her hands went up as well, knees bending in midair, and all together her body came down in one motion hitting the floor so that her feet planted harshly while her palms faced the ground. From beneath a large sheet of rock sprung up, shooting the guards up and away from the area. The problem was fixed, for now.
Mai Lee breathed heavily, catching her breath. Doing so much of an activity really wasn't her forte. She stood up and licked her lips, trying to gain any moisture she could after feeling so tired. Mai noticed that the two people were still there, but for whatever reason they were, she ignored them for the moment. Turning around she could see a clothesline hanging between the two houses, Mai Lee walked over to one, standing on the tips of her toes to reach up and grasp some clothes. Hers seemed far too tattered to wear anymore, so she snagged a new cloth like dress, one similar but now only the color had changed - green. It came with an added shawl, which was good because she could pull it over and use it as a hood. But no shoes were hanging up, so she went barefoot.

Mai Lee just pulled off her dress, putting the new one on over it and taking the shawl as a scarf, leaving the end to trail of to be later used. "Huh? You're still here?" Her tone was a little angry, per usual though, as she turned and looked over at the couple. She breathed out harshly through her nostrils and walked forward to go past both of them, "Be gone, I have no intention of helping you with whatever you want." She looked out onto the main street, there were a ton of guards still in the area, running around. She grabbed the end of her shawl and wrapped it over the top of her head, pulling it down a bit to shield her eyes. Looking up past the roofs she could see the tops of work places, steam coming out of them. Her only option now was to locate where the government facility was and try to find her mother.

The world will never change

The Avatar clearly didn’t want any company wherever she was going and Damian wasn’t going to stay and argue. He had to get his sister out of the Ba Sing Se. There was an Air Temple on the next stop. Perhaps the Air Nomads were more hospitable than the people in Ba Sing Se. Damain looked over at his sister, wanting to leave the Avatar alone and be on their safe way. “Come on, Akita. We need to get out of here.” Akita shook her head, not turning away from the Avatar. She had wanted years to even meet the Avatar. This opportunity was not going to pass her by.

“We just want to help you. We can fight back and win!”
Akita was in over her head. Convincing the Avatar to win a battle she, clearly, didn’t want to fight the government or want anything else to do with the two of them. This girl had just escaped, practically on her own, and now his sister was trying to follow her every move. Talk about an obsessive fan. Damian tried to grab his sister’s arm to get her out of Ba Sing Se but Akita moved her arm. Getting his sister out of Ba Sing Se was the only thing he really cared about right now. If he had to, he was going to carry her back through the sewer.

Damian watched as the girl looked around toward the square. It was full of guards still looking for the girl. They might be able to get by but it was a long shot. They would have to go around. Thankfully, he knew the city. It hadn’t really changed much in the last three years.

Akita looked at her brother, almost as a plea for help. It was Damian’s least favorite thing about his sister, her secret weapon of choice. It was his weak point and he hated being weak. The girl in front of them was in need of help and Akita wanted to help. Maybe in helping her, she could help them. They wanted to find their parents but right now she wanted to help the Avatar. Damian sighed and turned to the girl still trying to find a way out.

“If you follow us, we’ll get you around the guards and wherever you need to go.”
Damian knew the secret passage ways through the city. Akita nudged him in the chest as if to hint to add more. “We want to help you."

Mai Lee spun on her heel, turning in a semi-circle to face them. She only had two options, to go out there and face them alone or to run around; the second would take longer but it was the safest. She swallowed and eye'd the two from under her shawl, of course it could be a trick, arouse to get her captured; there were benders who - to stay alive - captured other benders.

"Deal."

Under her knew clothing her hands became fists, ready and willing to do some bending, but not now just at the right moment.

We have to fight for peace

Akita didn’t know what gave her more excitement. The fact that she was actually talking with the Avatar, even if she didn’t approve of them, or the fact that she and her brother were going to help the Avatar. Damian didn’t look all that happy because now he had to watch out for two girls. At least for a little while. The fire bender moved a trash can aside to reveal a manhole cover. It wasn’t much but it really was the only way to get around the guards safely without being noticed. Soldiers never checked the sewers because they figured no one would really ever go down there. Damian lifted the top and gestured for the two girls to go first. Akita did so without hesitation. Akita could see the girl wasn’t too pleased about the whole idea.

“It’s either this we try and fight off the guards,”
Damian suggested, “and I don’t think we can take them all.” Once the Avatar was finally down the sewers, Damian jumped down but didn’t walk ahead just yet. “Not a word down here,” Damian whispered, “the sewers echo.” Damian gestured for the two girls to follow. Akita, of course, followed in suit.

The water stung Akita’s nose but she tried to make a big fuss. Walking through sewers was a common way to get past gates. Carefully, they moved their feet through the water. Akita could hear the guards talking as they got closer to their location. This was the tricky part. One big sound and their position would be made known and they would be forced to fight and risk being captured. Damian tried to move slowly and hoped the other two would do so.

Each move through the infested waters was harder each time. The guards were now above them, trying to decide where to search for the Avatar. One even thought the Avatar had escaped outside the city but none of the guards had seen any signs of her. “I want every entrance way covered with guards,” Akita heard a soldier command “No one is to leave or enter this city until we find her.”The other soldiers obeyed and ran to spread the message. Damian cursed under his breath. This Avatar was proving to be more troublesome than he first thought. All he wanted to do was to get his sister out of there and onto Air Nomad territory. At least, there they might be able to find some friendly monks to take them in.

Inch by inch Akita followed her brother past the guards and up to another manhole cover on the other side of the main street. Damian poked his head out and made sure the coast was clear before helping his sister and the other girl. “Where to next?” Akita whispered. Damian didn’t this one bit. All Akita was trying to do was a help a girl in need and this girl just happened to be the Avatar. Again, Akita found herself silently begging her brother. In defeat, Damian and turned to the girl.

“Where to next?”
He asked in agreement. Akita knew what her brother was finally getting. If the girl went off on her own, she would be able to get past all of the guards. She wanted to help her and didn’t want the girl to be captured again. Akita believed that this girl was the only chance she had of ever seeing her parents again.

Mai Lee had not wanted to be so compliant, if this wasn't a "special" occasion, she would have needed to be dragged down to the sewer kicking and screaming. But given the circumstances she jumped down, the water was disgusting, filthy, but being on a ship with so many others - it was nothing that she hadn't reckoned with before. Her hands did lift, only to bend the water and move it out of her own way as she walked forward. They came to a stop, and Mai's eyes darted back and forth between the male and female. She pushed past them, and looked up, craning her neck and turning it to see. "You're no longer needed, I'll just go in."
Mai knew what she was saying, the way it sounded, cruel and rude, but they had really done enough she was half expecting for her to owe them a favor; save their lives or something.

Mai bent a section of water, making it go up and harden into an icey sludge, which would then be used as a step to go up.

He yelled orders at any guards that he saw walking around, and the ship that the Avatar came on was being inspected, as were the inmates. His boots clacked against the stone of the streets, frantically he pointed in any direction for the guards to go, wanting the Avatar desperately. "I want the Avatar!" The world will never change

Damian was about to protest the girl go up but, being stubborn, did so anyway. Akita was about to climb up but Damian stopped her. Guards were closing to the sewer they happened to be in. If they did act fast, the guards would come close enough to see the Avatar they would have to save her again. “Akita, I need you to shoot a fire blast down the sewer.” Akita looked down the sewer and was beginning to think of a list of reasons why not to do so. “Akita just do it!” He whispered hurriedly. The younger girl slide down the stairs and twirled around before kicking the air. A blast of fire raced down the sewer shooting up every manhole cover.

The guards who had been close by ran to investigate. Damian grabbed his sister and hoisted her up the whole before climbing up himself. Other guards were running to investigate and Damian didn’t really see a way through them. But first thing was first. Where was his sister? Damian’s heart went through his chest. “Akita, I’m going to kill you.” He muttered under his breath. Even though the guards were running the streets, people were still trying to act like everything was normal. Stupid cowards.

Damian raced down the back streets trying to find his sister. Finally, he found her chasing after the girl that was causing him more trouble than he figured would happen when coming to Ba Sing Se. The town hardly ever had any problems for them except trying to avoid the normal soldiers. Now, there were, at least, twice as many soldiers as there usually were and these soldiers had a darker side to them than the regular soldiers of Ba Sing Se. “Don’t scare me like that!” Damian whispered to his sister. Clearly, his younger sibling was still trying to help the avatar. Anyone could see that this girl his sister was so fascinated with was on a personal mission.

“D, I’m sorry but,” Akita leaned in to whisper, “I think we can help her.” Damian didn’t like the sound of that. Nor did he like the fact that his sister just couldn’t leave well enough alone. The redheaded girl turned back to the Avatar, determined to stay with her. “We want to help you.” Akita smiled. Damian was about ready to drag his sister out of town, kicking and screaming if he had to.

Mai Lee had gone up on her own, hopping onto the ledge she had made and pulling herself out. She slouched forward, putting on her self-created hood and waved a hand, the step sludge she had created fell back into what it once was.

She ran forward, coming out of an alley and quickly continuing on the side. Mai never lifted her head but she could sort of see out from beneath the scarf, soldiers had been running around and most of the towns people were scurrying as well - going into homes to hide. Mai Lee kept her bent figure, quickly walking into the farther part of town. She congratulated herself on changing her clothes early, her raggedy blue dress would no doubt have given her away; but now she wore a green one which blended in with the other folk.
Her footsteps became faster until she began running, which wasn't so weird as so many others were doing the same; and thankfully no one stopped her. Her next destination was the govern base, or, the king's palace, considering they were the same place. She dodged in and out of alleyways, trying to not catch too much attention. At times she could hear peoples screams, the cause being that now guards were going into people's home to investigate if they were hiding the girl. Mai Lee snorted and continued to go on.

She pressed her back against the palace, looking over and seeing the man who she had attacked early - the man who began the uproar. He was now storming up the steps, holding his nose, pointing at any guard that came across him. Mai Lee swore and pressed her body closer to the wall and the stairs, she looked prominently up and over, waiting for a chance to go in; until she heard a voice.

"What are you doing here? Begone!" Mai Lee spat acid at the girl who had shown up beside her, hissing while she still tried to be quiet. An arm lifted and pushed the girl against the wall to hide her, while Mai Lee pressed her own back against the stone as well. She looked back down, hearing the girl talk, "Fine, whatever. Just be quiet!"

We have to fight for peace

(Sorry it's a little short)

Akita was slammed against the wall by two arms. It seemed the Avatar and her brother had the same idea. Protect her. And even though they were awfully close to danger, something she had been close to many times with her brother, but she couldn’t help but smile. She was going to follow the Avatar no matter what, despite her brother’s attempts to drag her away. But now the escapee had agreed to let them follow her. It was like a dream come true for her. Akita was about to say something but Damian placed a hand over her mouth. Now wasn’t the time to make any excited comment.

Damian could hear the General barking orders at every soldier that walked by. This guy wanted the Avatar and he seemed to be willing to do anything, calling every soldier to search for her. Damian got his sister’s attention and silently gestured for her to count how many soldiers were around the corner. Akita took a quick look around the corner, careful not to be seen by any of the guards. She turned back to her brother and helped all five of her fingers on one hand before pointing one up and then down meaning they were coming and going. That was a little obvious since the General was constantly shouting orders.

It was an obvious question to Akita and her brother as they wondered why this girl was trying to get into the building lead by the people that kept her captive for who knows how long. Akita waited for the girl to make her move. She was willing to follow her anywhere and Damian would have to follow his sister. After all, she was the only family he had still not captured.

Mai had soon regretted her actions, but if she hadn't pushed the blabbering duo to the side she would have been caught. She sighed and looked up, listening intently. The footsteps and many screams decreased as the General went inside the building, some guards followed him while some went back to the plaza. Mai Lee stood up and pulled her hood tighter over her eyes, she too walked up the steps, looking down at her feet. Assuming the easiest way was to just walk in, or be in disguise, but unlucky for her the guards didn't wear masks. So she pushed open the front door just a bit, looking inside.
The inside was surprisingly quiet, it's large abode didn't seem home to anyone and she pushed the door open just a bit further to slide herself in. Mai Lee gave herself a second to think, on where the quarters would be to keep the imprisoned; most likely underneath the earth, or somewhere where most government people wouldn't hear their screams.

She swallowed and slid to the side, the whole building was one floor, and the first lobby room had three doors, one to the right, left and front. Now she was left with which door to go through, going forward most likely lead to the throne room - a place where she didn't want to venture just yet. So she was left with a fifty-fifty option of right or left. Mai Lee slid to the right, opening that door as well, she had to be careful not to peek too long or someone would notice. Beyond that door was another corridor, and she cursed the place for having so many damn rooms. My best bet would be to capture someone that knows their way around the building, then dispose of them. Mai let the door on the right close, before she went straight to the door forward from whence she came; pushing that open she looked inside. In the throne room's corridor she saw two rows of guards, not enough to take on, and even if she did dare they would no doubt send some alarm and signal the guards that had the prisoners. Best take my chances elsewhere. She didn't let these doors close, as to not attract sound, instead she went on the left and opened that one up. No one was there either, and she began to think her plan was all wrong at the imprisoned room was somewhere beneath the throne room.

Mai Lee bit the inside of her cheek and went in the left corridor, walking down the hallway as fast as she could before getting caught. There were more doors on one side as she walked down, but her destination was the one all the way at the end, no doubt that one would lead further into the Government's labyrinth.
She opened up the last door, looking into a place which was most dimly lit than the previous rooms. The Spirits must have blessed me. Mai walked down the hallway, which began to slant downwards a little and her breath quickened as her excitement grew. It was leading down into the further grounds of the base, underground where they most likely kept all of their secrets.

The world will never change

Regrettably, Damian had no choice but to follow the girl and his sister. It didn’t feel right to be in the lair as the enemy. These men were the reason why he only had his sister left and why he hadn’t seen his parents in years. True, he wanted revenge. He wanted to find them but going into the belly of the beast was crazy and possibly stupid. What was this girl up to? What was going on in her mind? Damian wanted to ask but muttering a single word could possibly be their last.

One door after the other, the girl checked and walked on. Clearly, she was searching for something. Or someone. “What’s the plan, boss?” Damian asked. If they were going to fight, he needed to know and be ready for it. It was a miracle there were no guards in the hallway. Even so, Damian still kept his guard up, checking every hallway and open door for anyone.

But something was off. The more doors she opened the more they say they were all deserted. Could the General really have called every soldier to look for the Avatar? Not a single guard was anywhere to be found. They were lucky they had even gotten this far inside. Damian made sure he was the last one in their little group.
