He blinked 'some use to her'? Was she coming on to him? She seemed to be joking but he wasn't sure if she was making an inuendo or meaning something else entirely.
Gersif's eyebrows raised in surprise at the pup's ejaculation, though he didn't know why he should be surprised he didn't even know her she could have a whole litter of pups and the father could be home any minute, though she seemed to be behaving oddly with the kit. Uncomfortable was the word, she looked uncomfortable. Had he imposed again? Or perhaps she was a single mother and hadn't been ready to reveal the fact afraid of chasing him off.
He nearly choked on his fish when she asked him to be 'daddy' the shock blatantly obvious on his face, so much for the theory of her being afraid of scaring him off, any other kitsu would have run. He didn't know what to say he didn't know her at all and now she wanted him to play house? ...She was really cute and he had been hoping things would advance to such a stage but he thought he'd have some time to get to know her and have things move more slowly ..to date... this was completely unexpected. He had to decide carefully, if he said yes he had to see it through, there would be no going back for him, he wasn't about to enter a pups life have the pup become attached and then leave, he would have to stick it out no matter how things went in the relationship. If he said no on the other hand he would have to leave and every bit of him rebelled against that idea.
He nodded, he could do this. An awkward smile crossed his lips, a combination of surprise from the sudden shift in the relationship and pleasure with a bit of uncertainty about the shift. He looked to her for guidance in being introduced to the pup however, not sure how to go about it himself. How do you tell a pup you've never seen and who has never seen you that you are it's father even thought you aren't?

"Thank you" she said smiling at him before looking down at the pup "darling, do you remember what I said about your daddy?" She asked a little curiously, thinking she may be pushing it.
Oliver looked up and nodded his head "you said daddy left to go on a trip before I was born..."
"Well, say hello to your daddy, he's come back, he had business he had to attend to and since I couldn't go with him due to me being pregnant with his child so he went by himself but now he is back and pleased to finally meet you" she said, knowing she may end up going to hell for this but what could she do? The pup might as well see he had two parents.
Oliver looked at the other and grinned "y...your my daddy!?" He asked as he bounded over to him and nuzzled him "I get both mommy and daddy back!" He said as he jumped up onto his back legs and placed his front legs against his fathers chest and licked his chin "when mommy went away I never knew she would be bringing you back" he said happily.
"I didn't know I would darling, I met him in a town I came across and he was there, never actually knew I would end up meeting him there" she said as she looked at him, she knew she and he would have to have a talk after he went back to sleep but till then she was safe from having her head bitten off. Sure, he said he would take care of the pup to but still, what a thing to push onto someone who had just meet you five minutes ago, she would find it all too reasonable to have him be upset, in a way, he deserved to be, but what could she do? She couldn't just leave the darling without parents and nor could she do it alone, she was stuck between a rock and a hard place and needed help.

Gersif winced at the lie, he'd rather not deceive an innocent but he could see the benefit to the kit in having parental guidance and he couldn't out himself without Outing Odessa and that would devastate the boy. What would happen if the boy ever found out he wondered, too late to backtrack now... he was committed. He couldn't help but smile and laugh at the kits warm welcome and his worries quickly faded away... for the time being.
"Sorry it took me so long to get home, business took longer than expected." He hugged Oliver his new 'son'. The kit was certainly lovable enough. "Why don't you catch me up on everything I missed son?" He smiled, this would hopefully fill them both in on the kits life, the more information they had the better things would go. He looked to Odessa, he wasn't sure why, maybe for approval of his approach with the boy, maybe for guidance, or maybe just to see her stunning face. He was glad to have a family again, to have a home to come back to, roots to grow, he didn't realize how much he missed it until just this moment. It was nice.
He wondered how much the boys mother had told him about his father, how much lying would he have to do? Could everything else be true or did she regale him with stories of his father at night before bed? Could he tell Oscar about his own grandfather? That was the trouble with lies they grew and grew and if you couldn't keep track of them all you would be caught.

Odessa knew that lying caused bigger lies to occur and they were hard to keep track of but she couldn't help it, she hated lying, especially to this pup, but he was a baby, he just wanted a home, some parents, if she and Gersif could provide him with that then isn't that a good thing? Besides, she had always kept to herself, she never had friends, no one knew her besides the odd kitsu that came to get a reading and that was next to nothing, to everyone out in the kitsu world she was a complete and utter stranger, who was going to be able to out her? Well, besides the guy sitting next to her and he wouldn't upset the pup so she was safe. Odessa looked at Gersif and smiled at him a little, approving he was doing a good thing by the pup, she lent down and kissed the boys head and then looked back at the other, hoping to whatever power that was that this was going to work out, as much as she hated doing it she did hope it would work out in the end for the pups sake as she just wanted what was good for him, she may not find lying to the pup good but in a case like this it was a lot better then him finding out the devastating truth she wasn't his mother right?
"That's alright, daddy, you are home now and thats all that matters" he said as he laid down and snuggled against his father and shook his head "I am not sure what you want to know, about you I know nothing, mummy never said anything about you, she found it too hard to speak about you, she said that some day you would return but that was about it, she always got a little upset when she spoke about you so I just learnt to not ask about you in future, I didn't want mummy to be upset.
Odessa lent over and nuzzled the pup, one thing was for certain, he may be a perma pup but he had learnt to be wise and considerate regardless and at such a young age yet keep his puppy self as well, it was nice to see, his real mother would be proud of him, she was sure about that.
"As for the happenings around here, not much really, probably the same old stuff from befrore you went away, nothing really happens around here unless some argument between the Angelics and Nightmares get out of hand or whatever but thankfully, nothing like that has happened in a long time."
Odessa got up and walked over to the small cupboard her human put in for her and opened it with a but of ribbon her human had tied around the handle of the door and picked up the container the slices of apple crumble were in and walked back over to the others and laid down "apple crumble dessert" she said as she opened the container but left the lid loosely on.
Oliver looked over at his mother and nodded " what is this apple crumple?" He asked curiously, he had never had that before.
"Crumble" she corrected him "just try it, you may end up liking it" she said as she turned the leaf over and took out the smallest piece there was and placed it on the leaf "there you go."
Oliver got up and walked over to the leaf and sniffed it, not sure he should taste it, this was normal food, Kitsu's were not meant to eat food like this but he was far too curious to not try it, he took a small bite and savoured the taste a little before swollowing "this tastes great!" He said as he took a bigger bite this time.
"Glad you like it" she said smiling at him.
Between bites Oliver carried on "nothing exciting happened with me besides learning to walk and talk obviously but I did make a friend, a female Celestial by the name of Sayako, she has been taking care of me, she has been feeding me, making sure I am alright etc and have even stayed with her a few times, she is really nice and friendly" he said as he went in for another bite of this sugary treat.
Odessa placed a big slice of crumble on her leaf and then placed a slice on Gersif's "no eating it till after lunch" she said playfully to him and then put the lid back on the container and got up and put it back in the cupboard and then went and laid back down again "I think we may have to invite this Celestial over for dinner one night, thank her properly for her kindness and generosity" she said, starting to think of a meal they could have that was a bit better then just fish.

Gersif relaxed not realizing he had even become so tense, he knew nothing about his father, which while sad meant that Gersif couldn't make a false step and tip the boy off to the truth, he felt bad for the boy that his true father was so cold as to abandon him and hurt his mother so, he would need to make up for that in some way how he wasn't sure but somehow.
"Well I am back now and I am proud of how well you have turned out" he smiled at Oscar "You mother has done a splendid job" looking towards Odessa his smile grew she looked lovely being maternal and his stomach fluttered at the thought. He chuckled at Oscars proclamation over the dessert and his smile turned to a goofy grin, the boy was a good pup and he was really growing on Gersif, he felt that he would really enjoy bring this boys father. To be a parent of a kit who's mother was also a divinator would mean the boy could be a remarkable one himself and that chance to pass on his knowledge to the next generation thrilled him, his knowledge wouldn't die with him, his grandfathers teachings would carry on and still matter. It filled him with a sense of purpose pride and joy that nearly overwhelmed him.
"Yes I agree with your mother, we really should meet her and thank her properly" he hoped however that this Celestial wasn't a friend of the kits true parents and end up revealing them as frauds. He looked to Odessa worry peaking through his features and he hoped she knew his worries.
Her words about lunch helped ease his mind however, they would handle the troubles as they come and they would handle it together like a real family, he finished lunch before starting in on dessert and he had to admit Oliver had stated it perfectly in words and action, this dessert was great.

Oliver listened and swallowed his last bite as he looked up at his father "she did!" He said happily "I am just glad you were able to come home together" he said, deciding to keep to himself about the fact he had been bullied in their absence, not even the Celestial knew about that, sure it sucked but meh, what didn't kill him made him stronger right?
"We may look for her tomorrow" Odessa said as she ate some more of her fish "would you like me to get a babysitter for you tomorrow?" She asked Oliver as she looked at the guy beside her, seeing the worry but would address that later and thinking it was best to spend the time alone, talking about this and looking for the celestial.
Oliver looked at his parents and frowned, shaking his head "NO! You just came back, I don't want to lose you again so soon!"
Odessa sighed "alright, how about this, your father and I will search for half a day and then come back and get you and take you out for lunch and dinner, anywhere you want to go and you can have anything you want to eat."
Oliver thought for a moment, he did like food and decided that his fave meals were a good trade off and nodded "alright, I like that" he said as he yawned and went back to finishing his crumble.
"I have heard of a dragon, I have never meet him but the human I know. she knows of him and apparently is a good babysitter, he takes care of all the permas and other kits this human gets or finds that may not have parents, I will see about getting him to babysit Oliver tomorrow" she said, thinking that would be easier. "And" she said as she lent over and whispered into the males ear so Oli couldn't hear "don't worry about this, we can pull it off, if this Celestial asks questions we will explain the situation" she said, having though the same as him but cared to ignore it, it was a worry she didn't want to think about right now when there were other things to worry about.

Gersif frowned at the thought of declaring themselves his parents and up and leaving right after, he didn't like it, not one bit. Looking between the two he stretched out his front paws arching his back and digging his claws into the dirt, he was soar from sitting so long and from the tension since his first scolding, it was weird having gone from that to this in... how long? Less than a day, but this new development didn't sit well with him he didn't like leaving the kid so soon and despite the bribe it would put the kid through a lot.
He looked to Odessa again displeasure on his features, he could tell she wanted to talk, he just wasn't sure this way was best. He thought about protesting but he let the words out with a sigh, what was he to say? They needed to talk, get their story straight, he sat back again with another sigh he just didn't like it. Her words in his ear would have thrilled him at any other moment if only just for the feel of her breath on his fur but it didn't ease his mind now. He would get the boy a present for when he returned, it may not ease the boys mind while they're gone but it would certainly ease his own.
"Well what should we do now? We have a whole night together before we go out in the morning, is there anything special you would like to do Oliver?"

Oliver yawned as he finished his last bite of his treat "no, not right now, I just want sleep, is that alright?" He asked as he walked back to the bed and climbed up on it, curling up and falling asleep soon after.
"That solves that" she said as she got up and stretched and then lent over and whispered in his ear "I am just going to go get my human, she sits near by reading at this time of day, I will get her to take care of Oliver and then we can talk" she said as she ran out of the cave to go and get the human but before that she walked over and nudged her son a little "daddy and I are just going out for a little bit alright? A kind woman by the name of Lenore will be here to take care of you, we will be back as soon as possible" she said, having seen him nod and go back to sleep which made her turn and run out of the cave.
Moments later she returned with Lenore and looked up at her, gesturing towards the cub.
"You want me to babysit?" She said looking between the two, taking the gesturing as her and the other wanting to be alone "sure I can do that" she said as she walked over and climbed on the bed, opening up her book and started to read as the puppy slept.
Odessa ran over and licked the cheek of the human in thanks and gestured to the other that they should leave and walked out of the cave.

Gersif nodded to Oliver though he was surprised by the amount of sleep the pup needed, hadn't he just woken up? He frowned at Odessa she just accepted responsibility of this kit and now kept trying to leave him.. maybe she really was the boys mother.... He shook his head in both disapproval and to clear away the thoughts, he had to think positively he couldn't be caught up in negativity so early in this new family or he'd never make it and the boy needed him, and perhaps if they talked now they needn't leave the boy in the morning.
A quick sniff of the human eased his mind a little he had smelt traces of her on his human so she must be alright. He followed Odessa outside and once he felt the boy couldn't hear him he spoke. He had planned on allowing Odessa to go first hear her out before speaking his mind but once out of ear range the words poured out "I don't like this" his face reflected his words in every line, "We can't just leave him now that we've claimed him, he's been abandoned by his family for how long now? And you want to just leave? Spend some time with the kid first, he just got his parent back he can't loose them again." His chest was tight felt like a knot was forming around his heart constricting it with all the emotions he held inside, fury not being the least of them. He didn't mean to come off so curt but he knew what it was like to lose everyone you love and end up on your own again and again. He wouldn't do it to the kid. Hell if she ended up leaving he'd care for the kid himself, no kid deserved to lose his parents especially not twice.
He waited tense for her response, his jaw set as he fought to hold his tongue, she would have her reasons and she deserved the chance to share them even if he wouldn't like them. Everyone deserved the right to explain themselves. He just couldn't leave the boy.

Sienna sighed and let the other speak before sitting down, head hanging low and started to cry, he was right, every single word he said was right, she loathed lying, she always belived in honesty but when this poor pup thought she was his mother the only thing she thought about was wanting to be and so she accepted the job and so she just looked up at the other and nodded slowly "I know, you are right, but I had to get out of there, we had to talk and being around him we couldn't, so yes, bad parenting, I know it is horrible but right now I needed time to let it sink in, let the fact I am lying through my teeth that that little pup in there is now my son" she said, trying to keep her voice low even though they were quite a distance away from the cave and tears still falling from her eys. "I can't stand lying and I especially can't stand lying to a little pup but what can I do? He thought I was his mother and in all honesty, that photo of her could make her my twin sister but I have no idea of even her name let alone where she may be and if she is even alive, I apologise for this, I really do but I couldn't bare being the one that made him cry, I couldn't bring myself to tell him that I was not his mother so I lied, I am not proud of it but what could I do? Tell him I am not his mother and send him back out into the cold unyielding world and see if he can survive a bit longer with the hope his mother MIGHT come and see him again some day? I couldn't do that, not to a little pup who was so adamant I was his mother.
But since I now have a perma pup to worry about I am not going to leave him BUT as this is just new I had to get out of here, just for a little bit, I just had to get my head clear, get some fresh air, think of what just happened and, more importantly, talk to you" she said as she took a deep breath and dried her eyes "you have every right to be angry but I just had to leave if only for a little while, I needed to just get my head around it so yes, if that makes me a bad parent then so be it, unlike other parents to be they have time to accept it, they have time to get their head around the fact that some day they will be giving birth to eggs that will hatch into pups but me, no, I just instantly became a mother in less then two seconds, I think I am allowed five minutes to get my head around it am I not? Hate me if you want, I deserve it but do NOT tell me I am being a bad parent when I just want five minutes to myself before he wakes up" She said as she flopped down onto the ground and lay there.
Sayako had been wandering around looking for the pup, she promised her old friend she would take care of him, not that he knew she was his mothers old friend but one thing she did know was the fact that she had to, one day, explain to him that his mother had died and that was a matter she had been carrying around with her for ages which she hated, knowing that some day she was going to have to explain that his mother had passed away on her journey, she sighed as she stopped by the lake, wishing that this guardian job was alot easier and looked out across it. However, she still wouldn't give it up, she promised her friend and so she would just that she hoped she never would have to tell him the bad news but he was, though just a pup, maturing a little bit each day also which was scary in a way as she may have to tell him, Sayako got up and carried on looking for the, she didn't know where he had gotten to but lunch was ready and she was sure he would be hungry so hopefully she would find him sooner rather then later, she had grown attatched to the pup, she was taking care of him sometimes, as his mother requested but also allowed his freedom, letting him come and go as he liked, making sure though she kept in contact with her network of friends so they could watch out for him also, getting back to her to make sure he had settled down safely and warmly for the night etc so now she just hoped he was at least playing or something where she knew he would be safe and somewhere near by.

He lowered his voice, she was remorseful that was enough to quell his anger, his disapproval would take a bit more however. "If you are going to be his mother than be his mother" His voice calm and gentle now "Do not declare him found then leave the next day. Let us talk now and stave off the search for this Sayako for another time, did you not see his panic at the thought of being left behind? I could not bare to see that look upon his face again. He has been through enough already there is a deep sadness behind his eye and I shall not add to it. I do not condone lying however this lie may save him from greater pain, but only if we play it right. I do not judge you for talking the roll -- I am guilty of the same, but I can not see him left behind even for half a day not so soon after our 'return', he has been on his own for far too long."
The look in his eyes said the unspoken, that he knew the boys pain all too well, his eyes held the same deep sadness that one carries all their lives and rarely escapes save for a few brief moments. He hoped that he may help the boy escape it and the boy help him do the same. It wouldn't be easy to rebuild a family from broken parts and lies, but if they could fix each other and no lies were added further they might do it, might make something magical and impossible, they may find that happily ever after, true happiness.
Of the few memories he had of his parents they were always happy and blissful, those with his grandfather joyful and educational, he wanted those days back but had always believed it a fools dream until now. He wanted to be this boys father with all his heart, with a passion that made him feel as though he would move mountains to do it, there was no need to think about it for him, he wanted and needed to be there for that boy to save him from the life he went through himself.

"You are right" she said looking up at him "I know that I just thought that...actually, no, forget it, I wasn't thinking at all, bad parenting that was, I don't want to add to the pain either but I just don't want to sit here knowing that some Kitsu could be out there that will blow our cover of taking in this little guy, the sooner we find her the sooner we can carry on playing happy families with him" she said getting up and sitting there. "I just want what is best for him, he is a darling little guy and he is growing on me greatly but this Sayako kitsu may just be the down fall and I guess all I was thinking about was getting to know her so we can show her he is safe and everything, this wasn't my smartest move but if she is the ticket to taking this child away from us I want to know now instead of waiting for that day that will come in the future where we may just lose him."
Sayako had been walking for a while now and came across two Kitsu's near by talking, maybe they could help her, she started walking closer to the others and noticed the female and started running over to her, was...was that really Calliope!? Had she come back and the fact she died was just some bad mistake from her network of friends? Either way she had to see is if this was really her "Calliope! Calliop!! It's m..." she stopped, having gotten closer she realised it wasn't her best friend and tears sprung to her eyes again.
Odessa turned around to see who was callling out and noticed another coming towards them and turned around and stood beside the male "can we help you?" She asked curiously.
"I...I'm sorry but I mistook you for someone" she said as she shook her head and bit back the tears "I was wondering though, have you seen a pup, he is a perma and has tan fur and an over sized hat and jacket and goes by the name of Oliver" she said, hoping they could help.

Gersif looked to Odessa their 'argument' forgotten with the advance of the new kitsu, they didn't seem to know each other unless Odessa was some sort of con artist trapping men in a relationship to take them for all their worth and this kitsu blew her cover, this.... Celestial... could it be? The boy had mistaken Odessa for his mother could this Celestial have done the same? Could she be Sayako? He glanced between the two and then back at the cave. From what he could see it was still safe to talk but if Oliver came out before they had the chance to talk... it could be disasterous.
"Sayako?" He asked, glancing back again at the cave entrance before slowly walking towards her so they might talk more quietly. He looked to Odessa as an invitation to do the same. "We have found him, he is resting peacefully, he made the same mistake as you but we haven't the heart to tell him the truth." He frowned showing his displeasure with the act of deception. A deep breath to ready him for the onslaught once he finished speaking and to steady his words "We have taken up the rolls of parents to spare him the heartbreak of further loss and we are hoping you might support us in this. We assure you we want only the best for him and will look after his as our own, we simply could not destroy his hope." His eyes became downcast and his ears sagged waiting for the inevitable onslaught to come. He could only hope she would understand.

Odessa let the other speak for them, following suit though she took up the invitation and did the same as Gersif.
Sayako looked at the others curiously and listened to the male and sat down, nodding as he asked if Sayako was her name, obviously Oliver had told them and whilst she thought their resolve was admirable she was still a tad suspicious of them, what two random Kitsu's take in a random puppy? No, she was going make sure she was leaving the pup with good people "yes, I am Sayako and I understand your resolve and admire you for it it but I am sorry but I can't just leave Oliver with you, not when I promised my best friend and his mother, Calliope, that I would take good care of him yet let him do his own thing" she said as she looked at Odessa "are you an only child?" She asked, the resemblance between her best friend was uncanny.
Odessa nodded "yes, I am, my..." she took a deep breath and continued, she hated speaking about her parents but in this instance it was needed to be spoken about a little "...my parents had me and then couldn't fall pregnant anymore for some strange reason so I am the only child they had."
"Oh, I am sorry" she said sincerely as she continued "I will need to check you out first, make sure you are nice Kitsu's but I also need to tell you what happened to Oliver's parents, I think you deserve to know this at least if I do think you are fit to take care of him, are we safe to talk here or would you like to go somewhere a little more quieter?" She asked, not knowing if their cave near by or not but she didn't want Oliver to come out if it was.
"We are fine to talk here, I don't wish to stray far from my cave where he is sleeping" Odessa said as she laid back down on the ground to get comfortable.
"Alright" she said as she saw Odessa get comfortable "yes, make yourselves comfortable, this is going to take up a little bit of time" she said, laying down also, deciding it better this way.

Gersif couldn't deny Sayako, she had every right to be sure Oliver was well cared for, he would be disappointed if she hadn't insisted, at least Oliver had someone to care and look after him once his parents were gone. Gersif was more than grateful to Sayako for that and he hoped that she would continue to be a part of Oliver's life whither or not she approved their paternal deception. "We would never ask you to break your promise and would encourage you to stay in his life as much as you would like," he settled down with them ready for the story Oliver didn't know, "he shouldn't have to watch anyone else leave his life."
He sighed at old wounds that never fully healed, he really hoped she would approve so Oliver wouldn't carry the same scars. A lump in his throat started to form of memories past and a fear of the story to come. It would be good to know for the sake of their lie but the thought of hearing of the boys loss from so close a source brought dread. His eyes darted to the cave he wanted to be sure Oliver would never over hear the tale.
