Lady Kira X Electronics (VG, Comps & more)? This sounds like a better re-naming for the sub-forum.

Cariella elyzia Cariella Aww, I enjoyed reading people's blogs. D: I didn't make one since I'm not familiar with coding and making things super pretty. ;n;
But whatever happens with technology and entertainment seems fine, as long as they don't disappear. Wow, I had no idea anybody ever really read other people's blogs. I always assumed that subforum was mostly ignored, since hardly anyone seems to create a blog or comment on other people's. Hmm. What I'm currently thinking of doing with the Technology subforum is expanding its focus in some way... Like, for example, changing it to "Technology & Gaming", or "Computer Games & Technology"... I honestly don't know what the best way to expand its focus is, though, or even if that's the best thing to do at all (since it would likely end up taking a bit away from the Entertainment subforum), but that's why it's so crucial that I get other peoples input & specific suggestions. As for Entertainment, I feel like it's active enough so that I don't want to turn it into something completely different, but I don't feel it's as active as it should be. I mean, I kind of wonder if it would be more active if I just changed the name to "Music, Movies, & TV" since even though that's a somewhat more limited topic than "Entertainment", just the word "Music" might catch more people's attention. I keep coming back to the idea of changing "Entertainment" to a subforum that's like the "You" subforum but focused on less serious & personal topics, like everything the Entertainment subforum already covers & more... Then I remember that we used to HAVE a subforum like that, & it didn't work out too well so we changed it to Entertainment, lol. So that subforum I feel might stay & might go depending on how much input this thread generates, since I personally can't figure out what the hell to do with it, & I don't know what people want to see happen with it. I have a theory about why Entertainment might be a little slow these days: I think when it comes to entertainment (especially music) people have strong opinions. I know a giant fight broke out over Lady Gaga, because someone bashed her and all the fans in that forum got angry. Maybe people aren't posting as much because they feel like they can't express their opinion with out getting flamed or making others angry.
Or maybe I'm just thinking too hard about it. I think that a good fight should beencouraged, that way when the winner wins or when the loser doesn't win, they can somehow read how it got there. But that'll just go under the Debates Sub-forum...

We could try merging Entertainment + Technology + Anime into maybe the Media subforum (which would include anime, TV, music, movies, electronics, & more). Anime doesn't seem to be suffering too much from a lack of activity, so it might provide the much-needed boost to the other areas of interest for that all-in-one subforum. Bring in on the inner geek! xD
That would still leave 2 subforums empty, 3 including the blogs subforum.
What about a subforum for people to post their shops in (e.g. avi art, graphics, bumping, tekteking, etc.)?
Or maybe a kind of Newbie Support subforum?
Maybe a subforum for people to post their pictures? *shrug* It's a bit farfetched of an idea for a subforum, but it seems to me there are a lot of people on Gaia who like to post their pictures for no other reason than the sake of posting pictures.

We have that for the gaia subforum x3.. Sad part is, they don't survive or last very long & end up being forgotten. OR people just end up posting links to their shops -.-
Oh.. and we have like.. 3? picture threads. one in the you, the chit-chat & the crew x3

I never much got the impression that our Gaia Life subforum was of any support to newbies, but whatever. I guess you could argue that for newbies, there's the welcome, gaia life, and resources subforums.
I wish it was possible to delete subforums.
What about a quizzes subforum? Foods subforum? Recommendations subforum? RL DIY subforum?

A Holiday/Special Events subforum I like this idea. In my guild, we make a thread to discuss all of the Gaia events and I later made a sub-forum, where we keep all of the old threads. I read through it, sometimes, and remember all of the fun times we had (though it's also crushingly depressing, due to situation that was unique to my guild). A Sports subforum Fencing is something that I prefer to do than watch or talk about, and I don't think it posible that I could care much less about. I would never use it. Not even once. Would anyone else? Are sports a big thing here? A subforum that's similar to Gaia's new "Heaven" forum I can only advocate even less for that. The only purpose that heaven has is to allow people who haven't been banned to have a (supposedly) troll-free place to post. Given that you can't sub-divide members, there would be no point to it, at all. A "b***h about your life" subforum / a subforum for rants Isn't that covered under the "You..." sub-forum? I know that if someone told me to move a thread like the one you described, that's certainly where I'd put it. A homework help subforum Not a bad idea, but I think that I come to Gaia to get away from my responsibilities... At least the one's that aren't fun, like Crewing Burn. A subforum for one-on-one counceling & advice Once agian, this sounds like a job for "You..." Maybe even a single advice thread there could do the job. A fashion/style subforum Aside from showing off my tailcoats and being even more vain and narcissistic than usual, I dunno that I'd do a whole lot in this one... At least nothing that other people would care to see. A subforum for threads you'd post in the main forum if we were like "normal" guilds & let you post there Honestly that there is no main forum is never something that I loved about burn, to be quite honest... Especially since what would normally be the main forum is called the main forum, but doesn't function like the main forum. It always seemed to me like it would really boost activity to just use it that way, but it's not my call.
So as I said, I advocate the Holiday subforum, especially if it has that sort of scrapbook theme that I described... Maybe I'd even do some occassional artwork of people hanging around the guild and enjoying the festivities...

You know, the more time I spend in the Entertainment Discussion subforum & the more I think about possible replacements for it, the more I'm really starting to think I should probably just leave it how it is for the most part. I mean, all things considered, its activity level really isn't that bad at all. It seems like the activity level there has actually notably increased in the past few months. It's still lower than I'd like it to be, of course, & I think I'm still going to make some minor changes to it & see what that does to the activity level over time. I either moved to the Memorable Threads subforum or unstickied all those threads that were at the top like "Favourite Band/Artist", "Favourite Movies", etc. ... I've kind of been wondering whether or not if those stickies weren't there people would start making threads about their favourite bands, movies, etc. , which would allow for increased discussion & whatnot. I figure there's a chance getting rid of those will help the subforum, & a chance that it will actually hurt it, so I'll just be keeping my eye on it & see what happens. Regarding the name of the subforum, I'm thinking I might simply just switch around what words are in parenthisis & which aren't; that is, change it from "Entertainment Discussion (Music, Movies, & More)" to "Music, Movies, & More (Entertainment Discussion)". It's a minor change & probably won't make much of a difference, but I like it a bit better, & changing the name would take me all of 2 minutes. Regarding your suggestions for new subforums... We actually had a "Mini-Shops" subforum back in the day. It was around for at least six months, & it just really didn't work out for a number of different reasons. Or, if you were talking about a subforum geared more towards allowing people to advertise their shops & such that exist outside of Burn, I briefly considered that idea, but ultimately I simply won't allow people to advertise their anything in Burn without affiliating with us. A Newbie Support subforum is actually an idea I almost always consider every time Burn needs a new subforum to occupy an old one. It's definitely not a bad idea, but at this point in time I'd honestly feel kind of like Burn would be copying NSTG, even though I & other people I'm sure thought of the idea before NSTG created their Newbie Support subforum. Also, to be totally honest, I don't think ours would be better than NSTG's; to the contrary, actually. When it comes to Newbie Support type stuff, I'd honestly rather just refer people to NSTG than try to create anything for that purpose in Burn. A pictures subforum is definitely an interesting idea, & maybe members would like it, I don't know... I can sort of guess what types of posts would end up being created in it though ("do u think im hot? my bf doesnt crying " , "rate my pic 1-10!") , & I don't really want to "promote" that sort of thing in Burn. Thank you for your suggestions, though!

@ Kira,
Eh? But of course. I'm sorry if I came across sounding upset or offended. >< That would be my bad.
Anyways, I'm glad you like the idea of a quiz subforum o: The problem with it is that it might be too similar to the Games subforum?
& like elyzia said, DIY stands for Do It Yourself. Like homemade stuff :3
@ elyzia,
Leaving the Entertainment subforum mostly as is with those adjustments sounds good.
Regarding the idea of a minishops suggestion, I was thinking more of the first one you mentioned, but I could see why it wouldn't work out much in the long run. With the second one you mentioned, I figured that was what the affiliation thread was for.
That's true. Perhaps it's just better to leave newbie-related matters to the NSTG.
I had second-thoughts about a picture subforum as soon as I suggested it. My line of thinking was similar to the one you just stated. I don't think it would really be a subforum of much substance in the long run.

I would think if anything it would be geared/matched more to chit-chat.
I don't think quizzes would qualify as a game unless it was one of those post each question.. but even then that would be pushing it.

I'm such a video game nerd that I'd really enjoy something geared specifically towards gamers, but it's a very specific target audience. And, like with a lot of things, people can get a little touchy. "NOwai, Dante would TOTALLY kick Wesker's butt!"
I'd almost suggest a supernatural subform, because there's such a surge in popularity for vampires, werewolves, and zombies, but that would overlap severely with anything book, video game, roleplay, movie related.
I'd help out with a homework subforum, especially anything English-related. I volunteer often to read and advise on essays and edit for grammar and content. The problem with this would be if people expect others to do their work for them or people completely redoing somebody's work. Plus, it would probably be very slow.

Actually, I've decided to change the Technology subforum to something like "Technology & Video Games" or something like that. I just can't think of a name for the subforum that I'm satisfied with. I just don't know basic things like if Video Games includes Computer Games or if I need to specify both seperately, & just other super basic s**t like that, since that sort of stuff is notttt my specialty, lol. Any name suggestions for a subforum for "Computer-Oriented people" & "Gamers"?

I always considered Computer Games included in Video Games. I double-checked, and Wikipedia agreed with me. ;] I can check other sites too, to see if my opinion's the majority.
Keeping it simple like "Technology & Video Games" would probably be better than something fun or fancy, so there's less confusion. Maybe "Techno-Nerds & Gamers"? Or Techno-Geek. D: Dunno, which is more PC-- nerd, geek, or dork. Could hold a poll asking technology-savvy BURN members to vote on a name. Make it a contest, give the members most likely to post in the subforum a voice?

Make it a contest, give the members most likely to post in the subforum a voice? That's definitely what I was leaning towards, making the name something simple. Ultimately, the point of a subforum's name is -- of course -- to convey in very few words what the subforum's all about. Since I'm as clueless on the topic of this subforum as I am on the topic on Roleplay (you know, I actually NEVER even go into that subforum; it's just like a whole new dialect that I don't speak), I just couldn't manage to think of a name & be sure I was conveying what I wanted to convey with the name. I actually find it to be quite amusing indeed that you mentioned throwing words like "Nerd" or "Geek" into the name, since that's what my brain keeps coming back to, just naming it like "FOR NERDS" & letting that be that rofl As long as you're pretty certain that most "Gamers" would view Computer Games as Video Games, then "Technology & Video Games" is the best suggestion I've heard so far. I mean, I kept thinking I needed to be more specific with the name so people will know exactly what's included in the subforum, but all that can be specified in the Rules & Guidelines sticky in the subforum (which my "nerdy gamer"-type Crew is going to have to do the majority of for me, since as I've already established I'm clueless about that s**t). Honestly, I'm so sick of worrying about a new title for the Technology subforum that I might just go ahead & change the name to that now :3
