Senior year, our FBLA group sold candy grams for Halloween. If you had a group do something like that you could donate all the profits. The Legion post here held a spaghetti night and split all the proceeds between two local families to help pay for their medical bills. There are tons of fund raising things school groups can organize, so if anyone wants idea's feel free to PM me.

They are constantly coming out with studies showing X causes cancer, or B prevents cancer. Before you believe it, look at the studies. New studies are showing that consumption of one sugared soda A WEEK can increase the chances of pancreatic and possibly other cancers.Non-sugared soda's were not studied, and neither where non-caffeinated sugary drinks (like juice).
Here's the deal: Sugar is addictive. Caffeine is addictive (and can make you sick if you consume too much.) Studies have PROVEN that, and if you don't believe me look at kids raised with constant access to soda and sweets versus one that's not. BUT that doesn't mean you should panic about the one soda a week studies.
None of the soda studies have been big enough to be really significant, and there are a lot of other factors these studies didn't cover. Like exercise habits, regular eating habits, ect. There's a study out there (we covered it in Psych and I can't recall what it was called) that states the more bathrooms you have in your house growing up, the more likely you are to go to (and finish) college. I'm not giving up my Mt. Dew, but that doesn't mean I'm going to drink four a day either...Unless it's Saturday.

The theory is that the more bathrooms you have the bigger your house. Which then equals more affluence, so your parents are more likely to be successful. Still, you have to agree it's a pretty odd study.
