"Fallen Enemy"
It was not a dark and stormy night. All the stories start on nights like those, but this night was clear and full of stars. The moon shone brightly on the wheat fields, threshed and bundled the night before. She glided silently through the beauty, a pale shadow clad in darkness. No human eye would be able to detect her, and if any other eyes were watching, she dared them to come out.

The house loomed before her, a picture of mid-west innocence about to be shattered. She wished it wasn’t so, but she had her orders. The girl was a threat, she had to be stopped. She bypassed the stairs in favor the second story window sill, shutters open to welcome breezes. There was the target, it should have been simple. Then Asmara made her fatal mistake, she looked at her. Looked at the sweetly curled dark brown curls, the soft cheeks, the dark lashes closed to the world. Still, she might have done it. She had the dagger in her hand when Rose Emmaline Havers, threat to the council, opened her eyes.

Asmara gazed into eyes so darkly blue they seemed to be violet, darker rings around the outer edge and the pupil. They were full of a strange mix of innocence and knowing, common among young seers. “I will go.” The girl said softly, and Asmara realized she was dressed under the bed sheets. For the first time she took in the backpack near the window, the letter on the desk. “If you would kill me, do it now. Others will be coming.” Asmara glanced out the window, but could detect no one. “I know where you must take me, if you are willing.” Dark eyes looked steadily into Asmara, looked through her to her soul.

So it was that Asmara Vaxius, favored daughter and top assassin, fell to the enemy. An enemy she was not so sure was wrong.

@latinhoneybee: The story was a bit confusing (it was like a book introduction) but if you expanded the story with a few informational fillers here and there such as where Asmara came from and why "Rose Emmaline Havers" is a threat etc. etc., but I really loved how you described the character and the setting in great detail, nice job 3nodding

@The Ducktape Alchemist: What book did it come from? lol Just kidding rofl anyway...if I understand it correctly (I hope I do) the irony if that little segment was just sickening (in a good way biggrin ). Though it lacked the feeling of a story and it seemed the dialog stopped mid idea, the introduction and the dialog was written superbly, nice job 3nodding

I wanted to expand it, but I wasn't sure I'd have the space. Asmara works for a secret council of supernatural beings (the darker side) and they see Rose has a threat because she can see possible futures. This means she can take actions to point destiny towards the better future, instead of one where the dark council wins. The idea is that Rose's innocence and purity touch Asmara and pull her away from the dark path she's been following. But yeah, it sounds more like a book intro. Guess I'm going to have to write a book now... biggrin
