We do drill downs every week in marching band! I've only ever won a couple though. Our relay always makes us laugh by shouting absurd things instead of the command. And if we don't shout "AS YOU WERE!!" while keeping a straight face, your out.

Hm, that souds kidna like this fun thingw e did during band camp. we had been doing a lot all day and it was very hot, so we were doing a fundamentals block and one of our alumni took the wheel and said this:
"I'm gonna say mark time. When i do, mark time for 4, and then dance until i say stop. MARK TIME HUT!"

half the band was like "WTF?!?!?"
The other half actually did it.
Then he yelled at us because of the half that didnt do it.
So he made us all do it again. If anyone didnt dance, the entire band would stand at atention for the rest of the rehearsal, a whole 2 hours o.o

Ive neva heard of drill downs...and our school doesn't even have band camp emo

That's awesome. My dad was in the Navy, so he showed me some of the weird/funny commands he had to do in their drill downs...xD

lol that sounds almost like when our alumni clinician was about to start a drill down, and he was all "when i call you to attention, the drill down will begin" but then when he called us to attention his voice cracked SOOO bad on the "band" of "band atten-hut" so then he had to start over cuz everyone was laughing (or laughing as much as we could at attention)
but then he never actually said anything like "as you were" or "cancel all previous commands" so when he called us to attention, one of my friends said "as you were sir" but everyone else did what he told us to. i thought we'd all be out, but it turns out he was out...i don't think thats quite fair, but whatever. it was funny rofl

lol. During band camp the dms voice cracked a lot because he kept losing it. Durng the parent performance he said "Band ten-hut" but it came out "Band Ten-Heeuh!"

In one of our drill downs, when the field commander said horns up, I had been watching the seniors for so long that I went to instrument horns up instead of guard horns up, like I'm supposed to. XD
