Vanessa Dolly All she could do was breathe. It felt uplifting to be led out of there and back into the town square again but quickly she was snapped back to reality; because there were so many things wrong with this picture.
For one she was a peasant, considered the lowest of the low in the social ladder. Vanessa couldn't be seen intergrating with the Prince, he'd be the laughing stock of the whole town; no one wants to be ruled by someone who's seen with a nobody.
Vanessa's head bowed, her eyes on the floor; what did it matter if anything had happened?
Her grocceries were gone and the last of this week's money was spent, she needed to find some way to get more money. "Thank you."
With that Vanessa turned and tried to disappear quickly through the crowd, people would probably recognize him right away right? Or maybe they didn't, maybe his own subjects were too fearful to look at his face. But it didn't matter if they could recognize him or not because she herself knew and just thinking about associating with him made her feel guilty.

His hold was loose, and she slid away easily. "No, wait!" he said, his usually strong and sure voice, uncertain and soft, "Please." he added cautiously, as if unsure if this was the right word. He didn't know if she would turn back, but he hoped that she would. Though he was dirty and grimy, he knew that she had recognized him. She was one of the few peasants who had ever looked him straight in the face before. He wasn't sure if any of the others would recognize him without his fancy clothes, and crown, and warhorse. This line of thought startled him. The people that he would be ruling in no time at all, didn't even know him. They were to frightened of their prince to look him in the face. Shaking himself back to the present, Hayden withdrew the pale daisy he had purchased earlier. It was a tad wilted, but it was still bright and beautiful. He held it out as if to give a peace offering, an apology for his deeds. "P-please." he said once more, suddenly conscious of the dirt caked into his hands, his chest, and his face. Suddenly he was intensely aware of the sweat trails that dripped down his back and slicked back his hair. No one had ever see their prince in such a condition before, and Hayden wondered again that not one of them had yet recognized him except for this girl. ≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭XXX

Vanessa Dolly She could hear his voice, almost pleading, calling after her and for a moment she stopped, turning around and looking back at him. Why did he look so sad?
The crowd jostled her, pushing her side to side as if she were in the ocean. Finally she just made her way to the other side, her skin feeling clamy and hot; from the sun and her unfortunate encounter with some hooligan. Vanessa looked up, her bangs sticking to her forehead a bit and making them look stringy. The Prince called her right? Shouldn't she go to him?
Vanessa turned her head, looking back and seeing him on the other side. Sighing she went back into the mosh-pit, sliding between peoples bodies just to reach to the other side. Some nudged, others pushed but eventually she made it to the otherside. She was a few feet away, not coming right infront of him but it was good enough for her.
Vanessa fixed her hair, walking through the crowed had mussed her hair up; and her clothes. She straightened them, bending down and fixing her shoes. It sure felt like she was stalling to go see the Prince, why did he need to see her anyways?

нαу∂єη тнєяση gαℓℓαgнєя XX ≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭ The sun was hot, it made him feel dizzy, or maybe it was the sight of her bright eyes. For a brief moment, he watched her make her way back through the crowd. An intense feeling of relief made him weightless as some heavy burden was lifted from his shoulders. Hayden watched her straighten her hair and her clothing, and finally her shoes. With a jolt, he remembered the girl that he was supposed to marry. He'd never seen her before. She was a princess of some far off land. It was his duty to his father. Now Hayden felt a little sick. He didn't feel right with so much responsibility pressed onto him. He knew that he wouldn't make a good leader for these people. He cast around with his eyes for a moment, taking them in as they worked or talked or laughed. They were just people no matter how lowly they were. And they didn't deserve a leader like Hayden. Something itched almost painfully behind his eyes. He wasn't sure what it was, so he just blinked hard a few times and tried to ignore it. He held the little wilted daisy out to the girl. "I found this for you." he said, an almost echo of her words a few days earlier. "I never learned your name." it was the first time that he was bothered to know the name of a peasant. "I..." he paused, embarrassed, "I wanted to thank you for stopping my rampage. I was in a rage and you gave me pause." He hoped that she would accept the flower. ≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭XXX

Vanessa Dolly Vanessa looked up, shielding her eyes with the back side of her hand. From this low angle the Prince looked so mixed, his voice carried out as uneasy but in the sunlight he looked so tall. She grabbed a lock of hair and placed it behind her ear, standing up and taking the flower. How could she ever look him in the face?
Vanessa looked down, eyes on the floor. "My name is Vanessa Dolly...your highness." All of a sudden she felt awkward, should she bow? Or was it curtsey, did it matter if she chose one or the other?
Her eyes flickered up to his, looking back down. He could turn her heart into so many different emotions, then again anyone could. I'm a pushover.
"It's nothing, any one of your subjects would have done the same." She paused, waiting for him to stand tall again, waiting for him to brush it all off as if it was nothing.

He glanced quickly back and forth, hoping that no one had heard her words, "Please," he spoke in a hushed voice, "Call me Hayden, no one knows I'm here..." he wasn't sure what she would think of such a request. He looked around surreptitiously, would someone know and report back to his father? He didn't wish for the king to find out about his little venture, especially since he was skipping on his lectures. Her last statement caught him off guard. He frowned and looked away from her eyes. He knew that it wasn't true. They all ran. They were terrified of him. It was like he was some kind of terrible monster. "Would you... sit with me?" he questioned, nodding over towards a clearer plaza where they could sit on a low wall with a modicum of privacy.

Vanessa Dolly She nodded, walking over to the wall. The only thing she heard was her shoes; blocking out everything out. Why was he still talking to her, didn't he get the hint that they needed to seperate?
Vanessa stopped and sat on the nearest bench, the centre was almost empty and only one or two people walked by. Being surrounded by homes, it was no wonder why.

нαу∂єη тнєяση gαℓℓαgнєя XX ≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭ This had been a bad idea. Hayden realized almost instantly. He could tell by the way that she held her shoulders while she walked that she was intensely uncomfortable. And why shouldn't she be? He shouldn't have forced his company on her, not like this. She was probably regretting giving him the flower before. It had gained her this attention, and now Hayden felt a pit growing in his stomach where a lead weight had been only seconds before. "I am very sorry." he said as Vanessa lowered herself to the bench. There weren't many people about, so Hayden didn't feel as worried about being recognized. He spoke formally, even though he was dirty and sweaty. "I should not have made you come here." he bowed his head respectfully. He nervously fidgeted with his hands, wincing as he brushed one of the open blisters and it started to bleed again. He looked down at his palms, wondering how he would explain that to the nurse. He continued speaking, still glaring down at his hands. "I simply wished to give you my gratitude for doing what no one else was willing or able." he finished, "Please, allow me to repay you." ≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭XXX

Vanessa Dolly Vanessa kept her eyes on the floor, her suddenly feeling itchy as she became tense. For a moment his words spun in her head, repay. Did she want that?
No.
Look at much trouble I have already caused. Vanessa smiled just a bit, the corners of her mouth only slightly turning; a sympathetic, happy smile. Her eyes drifted upward, flicking back and forth between everything on her way to the Prince's face; anything to stall. She only looked at him for a second before shaking his head, eyes falling back downards. "No, it's alright." Her tresses fell downards, meeting her pale fingers as they brushed her locks behind her ears. Vanessa could practically feel her heart beating against her ribcage, nervous, she was nervous.
Even though he was infront of her a few feet away she could still feel his presence, tense, lingering, his whole aura burning through hers. She looked up at him again, or as close as her eyes would let her - which wasn't his face but his body. Strong torso, strong legs, strong everything. So why did he look so weak right now? Vanessa stood, catching sight of his hands; they still looked strong but just worn. Grabbing his wrists and facing them palm up, she stared at them for a moment. "You need some medical attention."

He had dropped his eyes, and then suddenly her fingers were clutching his wrists. He was so surprised that he didn't fight her when she turned his hands so that she could see his palms. "No!" he said quickly, trying to pull his hands away, "That's not necessary." he added. Suddenly he was intensely conscious of the feeling of her fingers against his skin. It was like the places where she touched him were burning with something hidden underneath his skin. As if it could only be activated by her touch. His palms stung painfully, and the blood oozed from the torn skin. What a mess. "I'll be fine." ≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭XXX

Vanessa Dolly For a second she tightened her grip on his wrist, pressing her fingers into his skin and then lightening up just so that she held no hold on him, but still held on. "You should go home," with this she let him go. Watching as his hands fell back to his sides, "they can fix you up there, right?" With uncertainty she looked up and looked him in the eyes, "Thank you but I need to be going." Vanessa lowered herself, and for the first time, bowed infront of him. When she raised her body back up she turned and marched off, heading for her home.
The pit of her stomach churned, knowing that she was going home without food was a big problem. But staying here with the Prince was an even bigger one, if any one knew that they were even just mingling together she would be shunned.

нαу∂єη тнєяση gαℓℓαgнєя XX ≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭≭ Hayden watched her move off once more. He watched her for as long as he could, until she disappeared into the crowds of people out for the market. He looked down to his palms again. The places where she had touched him still smoldered slightly underneath the skin. It felt itchy, and his stomach ached, but he wasn't entirely sure why. With a grown, he turned away, into the opposite direction that she had left in. He found the water lady again, and she helped him by pouring a few small scoops of the chilly water over his cuts and wrapping them in a soft cloth to staunch the bleeding. He felt strange thanking her again, and he knew that she thought it odd that a young man such as himself would get blisters where his hands should already be rough from work. Instead of staying to explain, he took his leave quickly. He gathered his shirt again, pulling it on over his sweaty frame. He didn't feel like returning to the castle just yet, so he turned around again, and began to wonder through the stalls of the market, just observing the people there. Vanessa Dolly She had walked past the houses, heading for her own home. The only thing running through her head was the Prince, and how she'd left him. But it was for the best, he didn't need to be contorting with someone of her stature. What he needed was the people behind him, and the people didn't consider her one of them.
She'd gotten to the part of the town where it began to meet the forest's flooring, the well made town homes far behind her. And she kept trotting on, her breath becoming uneaven as the guilt swam around in her heart.
Moments later she made it to her shack of a home, stumbling through the doorway and stoping as she saw her mother. Vanessa's brows furrowed, her hand on the doorway while her vision zoomed in on a man sitting down next to her mother.
Here she was comming home without food and she hadn't even prepared a meal for their unexpected guest; all of these factors played greatly against her. But to her surprise her mother seemed slightly pleasant.
"Come here Vanessa, sit down. I have something to tell you."
