Klara grinned happily and hugged Tom back with all her might, glad that he was willing to set aside her past mistakes. "Yeah, Mike and the boys sort of took me in, about a year ago," she nodded with a bite to her lower lip, wringing her hands in front of her. She still had a few nervous ticks from back when she lived on the streets with the kids, and though her English was far superior to five years ago there was still a trace of her old accent. Jopie was watching them with wide interested eyes, making Klara feel like she was some sort of film star. "Stůj," she muttered at her sister, and Jopie giggled before skipping off down the street. Klara laughed nervously and turned back to Tom. "She's nosy, but you already knew that," she commented, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "I've heard you on the radio, once or twice..."

There was a short but no less awkward pause as Klara fought for something to talk about other than so...you left, I was left behind, you finished your education, I was hospitalized and nearly died, you became famous, and I finally got an opportunity to make something of myself, and now you're back and expect everything to be okay. She cleared her throat and finally asked, "Do you have a place to stay? Because I could make room in my flat now that Markus has moved out..."

Tomas could feel the nervous atmosphere, second guessing himself if her old feelings had in fact been set aside. "Thats cool." he said, laughing at her comment about knowing her sister. "Oh? You've heard me?" he was slightly surprised, and blushed. He knew that his first hit flared over the radio for a long time, which just happened to be the song he had written about Klara. He had named it after her, and wondered if she made the connection.

He thought about the place he had gotten, and then thought about the offer Klara just layed before him. "Well, I do have a place, but it feels crowded with my producer and manager staying with me." he laughed nervously, hoping that she wouldn't take it as him gloating. "I wouldn't mind staying with you and the others. I'm sure Jopie would be estatic that I came over." he laughed. He put his hands into his pockets, glancing at the men across the street again. "Uhm, It'd be nice to talk more, ya know. Over coffee? If you aren't busy of course." he offered, wanting to talk more about what happened over the time he was gone, and if she forgave him for leaving to college.

Klara gave a tiny laugh as her nervousness seemed to crest and finally ebb away. "Yeah, you can come for dinner tonight if you want to. It's a bit messy, but I've been practicing cooking some traditional stuff my Mami used to make."

"Klara?" called Mike, the guitarist, from across the street. Klara smiled and waved at them to show that she would be back in a minute.

"I've gotta get back to this, yeah?" she said a bit apologetically, pointing over her shoulder with her thumb. "But, um, here's my number, you call if you can make it for dinner and I'll give you directions, okay?" She reached out and took his hand in hers, deftly pulling a pen from her jeans pocket and jotting down her phone number. "If not, then we can meet for coffee tomorrow. I'm pretty open, so I'll match your schedule; you're probably busier than me, being famous an' all..."

Finished writing, she stepped back, waved, and grinned before tip-toeing her way back across the street and slinging the xylophone around her neck once again. She quirked her eyebrows at Tom from there and twiddled her fingers like she were playing a keyboard. I still remember us, she seemed to tell him without real words. That was special, but this is special too.

Tom smiled, and nodded. "Yeah. Dinner would be great." he said, jumping slightly when he heard one of the men call Klara. He shrugged when she mentioned him being busier. "I'm supposed to be on a break for the next month." he said skeptically. "I'll keep my schedule open." he laughed, looking at his hand where she had written her phone number.

He felt a twinge pull at his heart when she silently told him that she remembered the old days when they had played together. He had hoped to continue to talk to her, but she was in a band. He knew there would be no real time with her until her first obligation was over for the day. He silently thanked for the distance between the two, knowing the sadness he felt would show in his eyes.

He waved at her, pulling the guitar around, letting her know that he remembered also. After watching them for a bit longer, he turned, and moved a little farther down the street. He found a good place to stay and play his guitar where he would draw away from Klara and her band. He softly began to sing a new song that had formed in his mind, the words forming a story of loss, and want.

((aww, poor Tom! xD Oh, and Tomáš is just the Czech form of Thomas, so you don't have to spell it like that if you don't wanna))

Klara couldn't help but see Mike out of the corner of her eye. He had been carefully watching them from across the street, and he had a devilish gleam in his eye as he started up the next song. They had already played it once in the day, but it seemed to have a greater purpose than just to get some cash. This song had hardly more than guitar in it at first, but Mike was determined, it seemed, to make Tom hear.

"Tremble for yourself, my man,
You know that you have seen this all before
Tremble little lion man,
You'll never settle any of your scores
Your grace is wasted in your face,
Your boldness stands alone among the wreck
Learn from your mother
Or else spend your days biting your own neck
"

He smirked over at Klara, thinking it some grand joke, but she stared down at her xylophone because, really, it wasn't funny. But Mike didn't know all that much about her, even if they had known one another for almost a year, but that had been her choice. The finished up after another hour or so and went back to Klara's flat so she could start making dinner.

((XD I'm doing a good job then? Playing Tomas I mean.))

Tomas shivered, hearing the lyrics to the song they had started playing. He thought about it as he sang the new song, seeing a few people passing drop some money at his feet. He smiled as he sang, there was no need for that, but apparently they didn't realize who he was. He finished the new song, and picked up the money. He'd give it to Klara.

He shoved the money into his pockets, and pulled out the cell phone his manager had given him so they could keep in touch at all times. He dialed the number, and lifted the phone to his ear, waiting for someone to answer.

((yeah you're doing great ^^ Oh, and if ever I make a post that's difficult to reply to just let me know and I'll edit it; I have a bad habit of doing that sometimes))

Klara smiled at Tom as they packed up their things and took off for her flat, waving about mouthing "seven o clock!" because she had forgotten to tell him what time to come. She made dinner for the boys every night, but she was nervous for tonight. She would have to pull out all the stops and really do her best!

She was alone in her studio apartment for a while; Jopie was off with some friends of hers from school and Mike and the band were out getting a drink. She missed Nikolas very much, but he wouldn't be back anytime soon, and dwelling on these things would only be silly, so she set to her task and soon the whole apartment was filled with good smells. Czech food was very rich, but she loved making it because it reminded her of her mother. There was fish in the oven, some sauce on the stove, and potato dumplings boiling in a big pot of onion soup.

The only thing filling the flat other than the smells of dinner was the art Klara did as a hobby of sorts, from enormous charcoal drawings down to little postcard-sized sketches. And the boxes, but she chose not to see those for the time being. Right now she just wanted to think about how she would fit nine people in her apartment...

((Sure. ^_^))

Tomas spoke with his manager, letting them know he was having dinner with an old friend. Of course there was a serious conversation on the other end about him being careful, what being famous and all. He rolled his eyes and got off the phone as quickly as he could. Once he had that taken care of, he checked the time. Hmm, six o'clock. Maybe she wouldn't mind if I came over early? he thought absently. He dialed her number to find out if he could head over now, and get directions. He silently hoped the band she had been with wouldn't be there.

Practically spinning in circles to make sure everything was cooking properly while also working on a new drawing, Klara jumped when the phone rang. She hardly got any calls, and her mind was a million miles away from Tom at the moment. She picked up with a flour-covered hand and brushed her hair from her sweating face, leaving a tiny spot of flour to turn into paste on her forehead. It wasn't a number she recognized on her caller id. "Ahoj; Lazurova," she answered. She usually said ahoj for two reasons; the word sounded rather a lot like the English word "ahoy" and confused people, to her amusement. Plus, she desperately hoped it would be either Markus or Niki calling her. It rarely ever was Markus, and she hadn't even seen Niki since just after Tom left.

Tomas was slightly taken aback by the answer, but shrugged. He knew Klara and the others still sometimes spoke their native tongue. "Um, it's Tomas. Is this Klara?" he said over the phone, not really knowing how any of them sounded over the phone. "I was wondering if I could come over early. Um, like, now? I don't really have anything to do, and no where to be." he said a little nervously, using his free hand to rub the back of his neck.

Klara's eyebrows quirked, but there was a distinct smile in her voice. "Yeah, that's fine," she told him. "I'm on--ack, hold on!" She put down the phone and ran to the stove, turning down the heat to keep the cream-sauce from burning. "Okay, sorry. You know, uh, the aquarium?" she asked with a nervous laugh and blush. She was horrible with directions. "I'm two blocks south of there, in the building that's blue on top and red on bottom. It's across from the pier, by the record store." She laughed again, really quite embarrassed. It wasn't as if there weren't about a million record stored in Seattle. "I'll put something in the window so you can see." As she spoke, she pulled an enormous white sheet of paper out from under the sofa cushions and a paintbrush. She dipped the brush into red paint and painted a half-hazard flower on it, then a green stem, not bothering to rinse the brush off between colors. Getting a little carried away, she added purple swirls to the petals and a little yellow bumblebee before setting it in front of the fan to dry.

Tom laughed, "Yeah, I know where that is." he said lightly, glad he didn't have long to wait. "Okay. I'll see you in a few." he said lightly, waiting to hang up. Once goodbyes were said, he closed the phone, and stuck it into his pocket. He headed down the street toward the part of town he needed to be.

The moment Tom hung up the phone Klara picked up the fan and pointed it at different parts of the impromptu painting until it dried, and then stuck it in her mainroom window that faced the street. She probably should have told him there would be a flower in her window instead of just "something", since just about everybody had something in their windows, but he would probably figure it out. Oh, but she hadn't told him her apartment number to buzz up! She quickly picked up her phone to call him back, but dropped it into the sink. She swore loudly, damn her slow reaction-time! She would just have to keep watch on the food and for Tom.

Tom strummed his guitar as he walked along, humming different tunes as he walked. It didn't really take him long before he reached the correct building. Then he remembered that he didn't know which apartment was hers. He laughed at himself, wondering what he needed to do next. He looked up at the windows, searching for the 'something' that Klara had said would be in the window. Of course, there were alot of things in many of the windows, but a partially done painting caught his eye. He smiled, knowing that was Klara. He guessed at the range which would be the apartment would be, and started hitting buttons. Apologizing when got the wrong person.

Stirring the pot of soup and humming an old Czech song to herself, Klara sent a spoon flying across the room when her buzzer went off. She ran to the door and hit the intercom button. "Tomáš, you found me!" she said happily into the mic. "Come on up, door's open." She hit the button to unlock the front door and then opened her apartment door wide so Tom couldn't miss it. She looked around fleetingly, wondering what he would think of all the boxes and drawings and paintings, and the dinky little keyboard stuck neatly into the corner. But she didn't have enough time to clean, so she simply accepted it with a shrug.
