YukiOfTheMightnightHour I once thought I would join the military, but then I found out that because I am not a citizen of the US I wouldn't be able to get in. (I am a Canadian living in the US) mrgreen I like military people, they are so organized and so well disciplined. heart Are you a legal resident? As long as you're living in the US legally, and have all the proper papers and such, you can join. Hell, they'll even expedite the citizenship process. Now, if you're thinking about joining as an officer, THEN you need to be a citizen.

@Arc: yes I am a permanent resident, and living here legally. And I did find out later that I probably could have joined, but then there was the possibility that if I did and then they would expect me to become a US citizen, which I have been eligible for that last few years, but if I do then I lose my canadian passport and I decided that I would rather not do that. Besides when I thought about joining the military I was still a sophmore in highschool and didn't really know what I wanted. So even though I am kind of glad I didn't join the military, I still have great respect for those who do. biggrin

haha......hmm that might be a problem, but the military will probably help with that. ^_^
I like having my Canadian passport, cause when I go on vacation outside of the US, they always ask where we flew in from and we tell them TX, and then of couse they ask if we are Americans. And then we preceed to tell them no, that we are Canadians and then you can see them smiling more and their demeanor becomes very positive. I almost feel bad for the actual Americans. sweatdrop

wait...I'm lost though, why would you lose your Canadian passport?
My grandma has both a US passport, and a Filipino passport, and both are legal and current...

To be honest I am not really sure, but we where told that if we became US citizens we would lose our canadian passports, we would still have our canadian citizenship. So I am not really sure how that works. sweatdrop

Squared Away SailorI thought you fellow sailors would get a kick out of it if you still haven't heard it. Something to rival Sav's Navy song as well.
