*raises one eyebrow* Okay, now I'm more convinced than ever that there's a resurrection (or a "he's not really dead and this is all just a big hoax" reveal) in the works. Just think how many soap-opera characters "die" onscreen, have big funerals, and then come back later, perfectly healthy.

I saw the Gambino memorial items in the Cash Shop that Chibi was talking about. *eyebrow raise*

Sorry that I didn't post this before. I had tremendous difficulty getting a reply box to open. (forum reply boxes work better for some odd reason) Anyway, there has been some serious storyline development since April Fool's Day. You might have already read this, but I'm going to put this info in here anyway.
April Fool's Day The prize really points to Johnny K. Gambino. We recieved an item called "Phoenix Up." This item sounds suspiciously like the Final Fantasy item "Phoenix Down" which casts "Revive" on a fallen party member. Secondly, the baby grunny is born from the same urn that was earlier seen at the feet of Gambino's monument. You can even find it on his profile page. (Refer to the announcement pages in the forums to find it.) The combination of Phoenix Up and the urn makes me believe that the urn is key to reviving Gambino.
Easter Egg Hunt This one is filled with oddities that I didn't expect. The cute little grunny that is doing the egg hunt is named "Diedrich." While this is a pretty cool name in itself, it has a secret to it. If you separate it into two words, you get, "Died-Rich." And who do we know that died rich? GAMBINO! Also notice that you recieve a egg that turns you into one of Gambino's zombie experients as a prize. In addition, there are grunnies everywhere. Both are associated with Gambino and his love of genetic mutation. The part that I'm worried about is the Diedrich thing. It is seriously making me wonder if Diedrich is the reincarnation of Gambino. If so, will he ever be able to recover his former form? I mean, when Ian was revealed to be a vampire, his hair color just changed. Big deal. (Although I prefer him as a blond, he is still the same old Ian.) With Gambino as a grunny... I shudder to think. xp

I did notice the urn and the "phoenix up" joke, but never caught Diedrich's play-on-words name! Very good, chibi! *applauds*

GreenInkling I did notice the urn and the "phoenix up" joke, but never caught Diedrich's play-on-words name! Very good, chibi! *applauds* I would love to take credit for that observation, but sadly, I can't. I actually saw someone post that in the GCD. The only thing that came to my mind when I saw "Diedrich" was Diedrich Knickerbocker (the historian that Washington Irving created to tell the stories of Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow). I'm such a nerd! blaugh

GreenInkling But what's-his-name said that no human being can kill Gambino. So this must be something even more insidious than minor vampires and magical holiday mascots! It has to be some primary god or something. Unless, it's Gino himself or something, or some supernatural force, or . . . he's not really dead! blaugh Soap opera twist, right Alvinette!
I'm glad the manga is updating, too. But I have a bad feeling that they will use this storyline to draw in a new event, or at least an EI. confused
Last time we heard from Gino, he was sailing off into the sky with the now-mortal Sentinel and Overseer. So hm.
And yeah, I noticed they stopped coloring the manga. 'Sallright with me if that means it can be published more regularly.
Lol... No Gaian being can kill Gambino, THEREFORE Gambino's killer was actually:

You may have something there, Ethereal.
Also, I wonder if this plot ties in with the new horrible sparkles. I know from snooping around the GCD forum that the sparkles were announced to highlight items of high value. But what was with that comic? We know Saiph and his sister Hatsya are sparkling because they are valuable MC's, but what is the "he" they were talking about?
If you look closely at the background picture in Gaia's present header, you can see what looks like a giant marble head that has fallen out of the sky. Could this be related to the "He" of Timmy's quest, the giant, almighty Lanzer Head?

What I can't figure out it why Jack's Bat Clip is glowing, but the other event items aren't. It's only worth 6k, and I have loads of event items that are worth way more than that. confused
I'm wondering if they sparkles have something to do with the Overseer. Maybe it has to do with prom. biggrin But, I wonder why it is only the cash shop items and Jack's Bat Clip that are sparkly. I can't wait to find out. But, if it is just some promotion for some stupid RIG, I'm going to be mad. xp

I finally found the Prommageddon forum, and prom ended on June 4th last year. That means that we probably shouldn't expect prom until the end of the month. Unfortunately for me, we are leaving for Washington DC for a week at then end ond May, so I might end up missing the whole thing. xp But, hopefully I can get internet in the hotel room, and hopefully my computer will be working correctly by then. I really loved that ddr type game.

Makes sense that it has something to do with the Overseer. He kind of fell off the face of the planet (or flew, if you read the comic).
Jack's Bat Clip? That signifies a few things: Jack, flying (bat), event. But like you said, the last one doesn't make much since because the other event items aren't glowing. But Jack did have something to do with bringing the Overseer and the Sentinel back, so . . . maybe that's the connection?
And yeah, I do hope it has something to do with prom, not another RIG.
Well, hey, you don't think that the giant head the fell out of the sky could have something to do with Timmy? Just throwing that out there. *shrug*

Somehow I have a feeling that this one isn't connected to Timmy. He doesn't really get in the spotlight in events.
But you have a point about Jack. Maybe he does have something to do with it. Either that, or it's just a glitch.
I was talking with Malomy last night about the sparkles and the sky, and we have come up with the perfect solution! The King of the Cosmos from Katamari Damacy went flying through the sky, knocked down all the stars (again), and the stardust landed on everything expensive! And, when Santa said, "He's coming" (or something like that), he was referring to the King of the Cosmos! blaugh Too bad that Gaia doesn't have any ties with Namco and it's Katamari games. lol

New animated icon overlays for Gaia’s Premium Items…Shiny!
Posted by: siskataya on: May 3, 2010
* In: Gaia Online|Items|New Features * Comments Off
Twinkle twinkle little…inventory? As you have probably noticed, we have released new animated overlays to help you identify Premium Items in your inventory, the marketplace, and trades! Now you should be able to easily identify all the Gaia cash items you own or want to own quickly and easily. As well, each premium item type (CI, EI, Monthly Collectible) has its own color sparkle which further makes identifying specific items a breeze. And the animations are small, so this shouldn’t cause page loading lag!
Premium items have sparkles (these are not animated)
An extra safety bonus is that the sparkling feature will help reduce scams on Gaia. We frequently run into users who think they are being traded a Premium Item, or buying a premium item from the Marketplace, when in fact they are being given/buying a gold shop item. Now you can authenticate the item you are receiving/buying just by seeing if its icon sparkles – if the item icon doesn’t sparkle, it is not a Premium Item and you may not be getting what you bargained for. (Take *THAT* “Winter Rose” scammers!)
And of course, if you just like this feature because you think having a sparkling, shiny (and might I add slightly mesmerizing) inventory is really neat, that is fine too ^^
Hope you enjoy this feature! - Sisky

Yeah, but that practical explanation still doesn't explain the comic and the references to "he" and the head falling out of the sky.
What is going on here? ^^

Well, it's obvious now that the shadowy man is the "he" that Santa was referring to. However, I have no idea if the mysterious man is a character we have encountered before. It would make sense for Von Helson to want Gambino dead, and don't forget that Zhivalgo (sp?) was dispatched to kill him. So, that one would make sense. If you wanted an interesting twist that still sounds plausible, Edmund had Gambino killed. I can't think of a motive for Edmund, but Gaia could create one. Von Helson definitely has a motive. I'm also wondering if the sparklies will have any part in the storyline. Wait! I got it! If the Overseer and the Sentinel get their powers back, they could resurrect Gambino! eek whee
