Technically I was typing. All my type is of the same font without any kind of change in syntax, and did not exploit smilies, color, or even a change in size or bolding, underlined etc.
So how was emotion gathered from what I "said"?

Seems to me if it's good enough to work in real life then it's good enough to work for you here. IF a certain branch of the military has mixed forces then they do so for a good reason. I know some RCTs (Regimental Combat Teams) have just about everything they need to wage a conflict in a nice, neat package. Case and point, the Marines have their strike forces (I believe they're called Expeditionary Strike Groups or ESGs). This is an assault force with tanks, infantry, APCs and air support escorted by a Naval DESRON (Destroyer Squadron). They have everything they need to make an amphibious landing and support themselves in the field.
The Marines have Super Cobras and Harrier Twos (recently F-35s with VTOL). They have Abrams tanks and whatever those big, ugly amphibious APCs are. They might also have Bradly Fighting Vehicles. Each ESG also transports its own land based artillery, crew, logistics personnel and shooters. The Navy is "attached" to the group as escorts and for support.
The Army will use the Navy and the Airforce to transport s**t but they also have Apaches and the bulk of the mechanized forces. The Airforce has their own ground combat forces but they have a poor doctrine dictating their deployment.
When it's between the Army and the Airforce I do believe the Army get rotor prop vehicles and the Airforce get fixed-wing vehicles. In other words, helicoptors go to the ground forces and planes go to the air forces. The Navy has a smidgen of all of the above.
The Navy have Marines for security on their ships, as until recent history they were part of the Navy. That gives all naval ships some ability to go ashore and shoot people. Ships like aircraft carriers will have enough Marines to make a sizable strike force. Navy SEALs are their special forces. Nobody else has them and no other special ops force specalizes in what they do.
*Ponders*
Well, the moral is to consider what the forces have in the first place then decide what you need. As the one in charge, you have the inharent ability and right to decide who gets what and may employ the "******** off" button to all who oppose you. If you want an RCT with certain abilities then you can, by nature of your office, make it so.
Short answer; consider what there is then let the commanders in the planning phase and during the operation decide what they need and where. Then pick and choose from your already established forces who will go where and with what. Assign a central commander so the petty bullshit that exists between the different branches doesn't muck up the wheels.
Even though the Airforce owns fixed wing craft and the Army hordes the helicoptors it won't be so difficult to just deploy them together. Or use the Marines, which comes with a Naval escort and, by extention, air support. They're kind of prickish about it though.
