My grandfathers were in the Army. My uncles were in the Army, both family sides, my father was in the Army and I will be in the Army shortly. But it isnt because of personal choice, it is because we have obligatory service in Finland.
I'm glad I got accepted here, I will be thrilled to see where I can help you out with sniper business. smile

Lol, Marines are not the first in last out. Yer eating some crazy bread or something. Oh, I'm not flaming, just some playful jesting.
M - My A - a** R - Rides I - In N - Navy E - Equipment S - Sir! !
Any real piece of Marine equipment says Deparment of the Navy somewhere on it. Oh, and ever heard of Beach Masters? They are a small group of Sailors who pilot the boats in for Marines. And before the marines get out, the Beach Masters get off and clear the area to make sure it's safe for the Marines to disembark. Lol.
Again, I'm no flaming, just having some quick fun.

Oh, and I'll tell you waht's going on with the whole recruiting thing. Something the recruiters won't tell you. The Military is downsizing due to budget deficiencies. Wow this coffee is kicking my a**. I've seen some of my really good friend who are overly quallified for their job, meet all the physical requirments, and are basically THE expert in their field at their command, get kicked out because of something called HYT (High Year Tenure). Militaries strict on everything right now. If you're 1% out of body fat standars, your are 1 pound over weight, you just barely don't meet the physical fitness requirements, were .1 points away on the exam from passing and making rank and are within six months of HYT, or have something else wrong with you, you're pretty much out of the Navy. It's getting rough. I recently made second class, and I'm progressing quickly, E-1 to E-5 in under four years without getting good evals or advanced in A-school (the hard way, basically), and they are looking at getting rid of me because my old chief ******** me over, and I also got hurt during my last physical fitness exam. Oh, and guys that made E-5 at the beggining of '09 still are not getting paid E-5 pay because of the budget deficiencies. It appears the new Litoral Combat Ships are more important than paying those men and women who are willing to risk their lives so these new ships can be built.
Hooooyah go Navy clean something.

I appreciate you information on a subject from a personal view; I understand that the projected military budget is half that then what we thought it was in 2006. I myself MIGHT join the army/marines (If I was to do NAVY I'd need perfect eyesight in order to get anywhere). Right now I'm way overweight; and I plan to be, but my body percentage is well under what is required. Because I can do hundreds of push-ups like I do and run and whatnot, I'm sure they'd excuse my heavy BMI index and realize that having 8% body fat is what they're looking for from BMI anyways. If they don't, well, every Special Forces guy who's 5'10 and 215 pounds is gonna have to be kicked. (Average weight.)

There's waivers and what not. Any information you want that you're not satisfied getting from the recruiters just ask.

I'm sure I'd get a waiver for my BMI- BMI is used to check body fat percentage, but it's out of date, and calipers and electric analysis are more precise and actually used in the Military, so I'm sure I'd pass. After all... We've had all kinds of bodybuilders/strength trainers in in the military, shouldn't be too big of a deal. Ronnie Coleman is like 5'10 and 300 pounds, and he used to be in the military xd

The Navy doesn't use calipers or anything like that. They do the Rope and Choke. The measure your neck and waist with a tape measure, then calculate youre BMI that way. Only reason why they do that is if you're over weight. Right now at 6' even, and 179 lbs, I'm about 20 pounds under weight.

Ha, I'm 5'8 and 170 pounds. If I wasn't bow legged and didn't have scoliosis I'd be 5'11.
Without arthritis I'd been 6'1.
But, becuase my body is collapsed on itself I've always had the advantage of having a lighter over-all organ weight with a higher muscle ratio.
In accordance with 8-10% body fat, I'd be fine.
Yeah, I can never be a Navy Seal. 20/400 vision and a host of birth deformities. My BMI is tremendously high. What can I say? The Navy Hates freaks.

We can't all be a part of the Arian Nation lol. I have 20/400 and 20/600 vision and a concaved chest. Had to get a waiver to be on submarines. I hold nothing against anyone.

Haha yeah xd Did you know that Laser Eye surgery is an automatic dis allowance from being in the Navy Special forces OR being in the Airforce? Pretty ridiculous imo; you have to get a waver BEFORE you get the surgery, bullshit imo. I guess it sort of makes sense though; on the Aryan note, my friend who's going to be a pilot is 6 foot, has blonde hair and blue eyes and has perfect vision; better than perfect, 15/20 vision. Despite the 300 something air hours he's logged before even going into the airforce, they might not let him train in the airforce. xd

Lol. Actually, you have to have 20/60 vision correctable to 20/20 to be selectable for the SEALs. Already tried signing up.

Do a couple hundred push-ups. Able to do over 6 chin-ups (20.) No medical histories of anything to severe or limiting. Be white, have blond hair and blue eyes, be over 5'10, be able to prove your Aryan ancestry back 150 years, be able to strangle a puppy you've had for 6 months after training is done; with your bare hands.
