In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance...
"Once more! [We play] Again! [We play] One last time! [We sit there.]"
... In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace, what did they produce? The cuckoo clock.

Ahh, the ultimate band lie. I always scoff when I hear it because you know to add at least three onto one before you actually quit.

It's like "Uncle" from Jackie Chan Adventures with his "ONE MOOOORE THING!" line. It's NEVER the last time, no matter how many "one more times" there are.

not only does this happen on a regular basis at band camp, as well as at after school and pre football/competition practices, we're actually doing a run through of our past year's marching show (which we haven't practiced since November) 'one last time.'

Except for this one time when he said 'One more time and then you can have a water break' and he was true to his word D: Even though I was a freshman I was scared...

Yup, BD does this all the time... But I learned quick, so I stopped believing him when he said it, so it's all good.
One more time (while still working through drill) = once more with just this chart, then 2-3 times with this chart and the last, then 2-3 more times with the last section of charts...
One more time (once done with drill) = 4-5 more times, at least.

I've come to believe that it's a universal band director trait.
And "one more time" never means 'one' more time. It can be anywhere from 5-25 times, but never once.
It doesn't even seem to matter if it's pouring down rain on us...

ClarinetGoddess My BD does that too. During marching band, especially band camp, we will be doing something in 100 degree heat for an hour and a half. BD: One more time! Then a water break Us: You said that an hour ago. If one more time means one more hour, we may never get to a water break... My band director trys to do that after a while we all start yelling "Agua por favor" (water please in spanish) and then he lets us get water

Our staff is always telling us "one more time!" and if we dont do it right the first time then we have to do it a million times more.

My old BD would use it in marching band and concert. "From the top! One more time!...Well band, that SUCKED. DO IT AGAIN."
