No no, I understand that. I was just thinking about you missing the fact that you weren't there and Rol said he doesn't think it's a good idea to be there out of experience. So that's why I said the grass is always greener. Also having 2 parties say the complete opposite can be tough. She needed a middle ground and I can do that! ^_^

I guess my point is that as long as she's not alone it's not so bad. Be there for her and cuddle her as much as you can beforehand to show her how much you still love her. Permanent goodbyes are never easy, no matter how you try to say them. -Formerly La Belle Isolde-

It is a tough thing to do. I know that when it comes time to say goodbye to my dog it is really going to hurt but I will find the will to let him go in knowing that it is the kinder thing to do. You see, our neighbours had a dog that was very, old, blind in one eye, arthritic, senile, and was looking all mangey, losing massive amounts of fur from his back. He had even reached the stage where it was pooing in his own bed. Their son, who is a year older then me so he would have been 20 at the time, I think, had grown up with the dog (which was then maybe 15,16) and they refused to put it down because it was too painful for their son. Never mind that in the meanwhile their dog was suffering terrible physical pain and discomfort. Eventually the dog died alone in the yard, which I think is very sad. I wish sometimes that I had reported them because of the state that the let him get to was cruel and all because they didn't want to deal with the emotions of letting go.
So, yes, there will be tears and you may wish things were different, but you are saving one of your best friends from a lot of suffering.
I think your necklace idea is a really good one.

Today, at 12:15 pm, Oreo was laid to rest. I was not there. My mom took my sister and I shopping because neither of us wanted to be there. But, my dad and brother went and were there for her the whole time. I've got my necklace and I think I'm going to go out for the rest of the day with some friends and try and keep my mind off of it. She would want me to keep going as I always would. Thanks guys for all the support. smile You're awesome. All of ya. <3

She's not suffering anymore and will be at peace forever more. If anything happens, needing cheering up or whatnot, we'll still be here for you.
*hugs*

I'm glad Oreo wasn't alone and I hope you can celebrate the time you spent together.
