Waist ties are meant to be tied, yes. But I would put some more practice into how to tie them before taking pictures. It's a matter of neatness. Examples: 01 02But for decorative bows, like on the hat, there's no real point to being able to re-tie it. So it's best to just go for whatever is going to look nicer. Tied ribbon bows really only work with thin ribbon (1/4 - 1/2 in), and/or bows that aren't that large. And, if you're going to tie it, it should be a separate piece of ribbon, not the same piece tied around the hat-- which I assume is what caused it to be twisted. Ensure that the piece around the base of the hat is flat all the way around, and make a new bow from a separate piece of ribbon-- ensure that bow's loops and tails are both symmetrical, then stitch it in place. When you make the bow from a different piece of ribbon than the band, it's also easier to make the knot look flat, which is more appealing. Faux Knot Bows: 01 02 03 04 05 06Tied Bows: 01 02

I see what you mean about the bows (and actually, I even incorporated the faux knot bows on the front of the waistband of my second skirt), but I'll keep that in mind. ^^

You definitely have potential, it's just a matter of neatening up your skills and presentation. Time and practice bring improvement, just stay with it and try not to get discouraged. wink I've been plotting and working toward my label for years, and I'm just now pretty comfortable with how things fit together (in regard to website aesthetics, marketing, etc).
I don't know how serious you plan to be with this, but once you've tidied up your skills a bit, it may be a good idea to look into an informal business class or two. Most cities have them available in community centers, or in affiliation with schools. Look for something specifically aimed at personal business, and/or internet business. It really helps to make things run smoothly with all of your transactions, and it will get you some tips on how to stay organized, and how to put your name around, even if you plan to stay on a small scale. And, by being able to state that you have some business knowledge, buyers will be more trusting of your label.

Yeah, I definitely am not completely please with the way my site is at the moment either, and I am definitely eying a lot a ways I still want to improve it (of course it's only been up for a few weeks now, but I have been planning it for a couple of years).
And on a side note, I found it a bit ironic that you go to UT Austin, as I too am looking at going there for their Japanese program >.>

I'm in the linguistics program here, just one year left to go. ^^; Specialty in East Asian languages, studying Chinese and Japanese.
I'll warn you, if you get in: try to avoid Suito and go for Aida's classes. Aida is amazing. heart All language courses here are very intensive, but you learn a lot, and there are so many cultural courses. You just may not have much of a life outside of school.

Faux knots are the way to go! They lie much flatter. For things that need to be tied, use a thicker fabric that will hold taut after being tied to make a more structured, smooth bow knot. And your second skirt is even better! Also, try some photos of your clothing being worn by models(friends) in front of a backdrop!
Always keep in mind that this is just you, sewing by yourself and not a big company yet, so never be discouraged if it's not just like store quality yet! You have come so far! Not many people can do what you have done! Keep working hard and eventually you will have it down flawlessly!
Also, I really admire the way you have taken the constructive criticism and advice given here and used it to better your shop! I look forward to seeing what else you'll have in store!
