I can't find the title. I'll have to see if I can Google it or something. I do believe, however, that it was part of what is known as her "Juvenilia" (the things she wrote as a teenager). That might help some.

I have a collection of her Juvenila that I haven't read yet. It has Lady Susan, The Watsons, and Sandition in it. Do any of those ring a bell?

I believe that Northanger Abbey was based on one of her earlier manuscripts that had the name "Susan" in it, but I'm not sure if it was "Susan" or "Lady Susan."

I know that Northanger Abbey was originally entitled Susan. The weird thing is that there isn't a Susan in the entire book.

Oh, and about Northanger Abbey: I think Catherine might have originally been named Susan.

I'm glad Austen changed it to Catherine because Catherine is a very gothicy name, so it fits the theme of the parody better. Like, almost every gothic novel I've ever read has a Catherine in it.
Did someone say something about Wuthering Heights?

I mentioned Wuthering Heights. I bought a copy of Villette recently, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet.

I know this is kind of off topic, but Chibi, have you read The Female Quixote yet? I know that you told me you bought it a few months ago, but I couldn't remember whether or not you'd actually gotten around to reading it. And yes, I want to borrow it when you're done. wink

Mademoiselle Alvinette I know this is kind of off topic, but Chibi, have you read The Female Quixote yet? And yes, I want to borrow it when you're done. wink I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. sad I rarely have time to do anything other than assigned homework. And when I've been reading all day for my classes, pulling out a book isn't what I do to relax. I get on Gaia instead. sweatdrop I do most of my reading when I'm not bogged down in reading assignments for my many English courses. And yes, you may borrow it. wink

Woohoo! I'm reading Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters right now. It's hard to describe, but it's definitely fun escapist reading!

Oh yeah. That was my first Austen. I read it in ninth grade. The other two I've read are Northanger Abbey and Persuasion.
