i've had a disappearing client once but he showed up about 4 months later ^^; so i'm not sure if that counts... i usually just make people pay ahead of time and wait for it... dunno if that's how u guys do it, but i'd love some tips on how to run the process.  rice saysi usually take payment after i finish unless its rl commissions. usually if i about to start a commission i pm or email them to let them know i'm about to start so i know if they're gonna be on a vacation or lil hiatus.

I finished a piece worth $20... I showed the commissioner the watermarked sample and he/she never replied. That was like a year ago and still ain't replyin! WTF?! Though I know that he/she should be a decent person since he/she has alot of good pieces from other artists. I just don't know what happened... gonk
Anyways, it also sucks when the commissioner always asks me to change something about the drawing... x_x

oh ^^; i thought we were talking about RL coms only, my bad.
well, in that case. when i was first starting out on gaia, I had a guy show up offering a bribe of the 250k for a knee up cg. I wasn't very good then, so i took it and was really happy about it.
i finished the wip and sent it to him about a week later, but he didn't like it because it wasn't exactly the picture he had in mind, so i tweeked it and sent the watermarked version back... he still didn't like it, so i did it a third time and colored it then sent it to him.
well, the guy canceled the trade and sent me a trade with 50k instead, saying that's how much he wanted to pay for the pic. i told him forget it, no deal, and then he called the mod on us X)
irony was that the mod made him send the 250k back ^^;

Then she pmed me again saying to ADD something and i grudgingly changed it but then she pmed me ANOTHER time and said to add more things~! I mean, i'm pretty patient with this stuff but i'm not gonna fix it like 5-6 times to add this and add that~ if i got the color wrong then thats fine but adding whole details and items and stuff is a bit over.

Well, i kinda just said no~ i mean, I fixed the previous things that she mentioned in refs that i forgot but drew the line at adding items~ and that was that~ never heard from her againXDDD
and yeah~ i have been on fleetingly~ mostly hangin out at some request threads from a few friends=P what bout u~?

I've had an interesting one that never got finished. It sucks because I had did her art once before for an auction of mine she'd won. I still have her art done but she never even replied to a wip I had sent her to make sure it was ok. I ended up finishing it just to finish it. And have 200K sitting in a trade that will probably never be finished, I ended up having to report her. gonk Still don't know the outcome of that yet. It's like she died on gaia or something.

I don't sell art (because I can't XD ) but I've had plenty of issues with people when I win their auctions.
The first one at least PMed me when things came up, and I ended up getting a better piece because of it.
I'm waiting on an auction piece right now...I wish I could see how long the trade has been going for...I think since August, if not July. I was promised it would be done after the month ended, and I PMed her not too long ago and finally got a "Things have been hectic" response...I'd like to be warned of that when I'm told that something is going to be done around a certain time. >.<

Worst that's ever happened to me was, I took a commission and the worth was 45$, and I told them they had to send the money after I showed them the picture and gave the OK. This was in case I wanted to cancel if I just didn't feel pleased with the picture itself. Well- I later sent them a note saying I couldn't do it and they started yelling at me, because they said they already sent their money; regardless I had a note saying you do NOT send the money till I give the okay. gonk
I still never got their money. So I find it hard to believe they really sent it or were just looking for free art. :

Jeez, it's pretty much the commissioner's responsibility to read all the info
and such (like procedures and etc.) before deciding to commission. |:C
A related topic would be art trades. Like for example, if one side puts so much effort into their side while the other sketches something up and slaps on some flat colors.

It happened on my art auction. Some guy bid for artwork and he added tip, totaling to 470k. They were 5 chibis(2 busts and 3 fullbody). But since he was very kind to add a huge tip, I worked more than the expected: 123But he never replied. I worked my butt off for nothing. ;_;

The worst horror story I have didn't really affect me much. Someone asked me to participate in their art contest where the winner would win an upwards of 1 mil. I accepted and started to sketch out a picture but a few days after they asked me they said the mule that was holding the gold was hacked. This was after they had gotten a good 20 pieces of art. I don't know whether or not they were lying but they basically got 20 images free. :/

But she ended up giving out some of the items that weren't stolen, or she had gotten after being hacked. So I did get something, however she couldn't properly hand out her original rewards as promised. That was ok with me. But I wouldn't put it pass someone to start a contest and then drop it because they were hacked.
