2) What's the good thing about fasting?

Your discipline is tested, because its not easy going without food/drink for a day. Also, body wise fasting restores a healthy digestion and elimination, and peristaltic action goes quicker.

it also helps you restrain the haram things. because if you're willing to stay away from the things allowed to us, then you surely be able to stay away from the haram stuff.

I love dates! I haven't had milk and dates together, but dates themselves are great! 3nodding You get these dates cookies and they're really delicious! Oh yeah, and it's a Sunnah to break your fast with dates (but I drink water before that xp ).

Uh-oh! And Ruby Light, this is gonna be your first Ramadan. What do you think about it? ^ ^ Have you try to fast before Ramadan?

If it is then, I wish you luck! Trust me, the first few days will be quite hard, but then you'll get used to it. smile

Yes, Ruby Light. Since it is going to be your first Ramadan, the first few days will be hard... I guess it will be even harder because Ramadan is partially in the summer. I hope you get used to it real soon. (hmm... I can't quite word this well stressed .)

I love dates! My family and I always break our fast with a couple dates and a glass of water, then we go do our prayers and then eat!

My brother turned 8 recently, my parent are having him start out by fasting half a day! Next year he'll do the same thing, but fast the full day on the weekends.

I'm not happy about Ramadan moving back a week each year, lol. Soon it'll be completely in the summer- such long days! Especially with the weather around 100 degrees... [dies]

I'm moving to alaska when Ramadan comes in that weather!! [lol] Anyone is free to come along XDDDDDDDD

To post out of curiosity and to help boost the guild another thread question.. biggrin

Although I am not Muslim, I do love to fast some and go without things that I normally eat. I however, have low blood sugar and that calls for action if it starts to drop. (which it has many a time in my life XD)

Diabetics would reach for sugary stuff..but it's better for me to reach for a piece of cheese and crackers or such. I don't eat much meat aside from chicken/turkey and seafood... but have to have protein, such as beans, nuts, dairy, etc...

But I digress, if I was fasting for Ramadan, and I felt my blood sugar start to drop and had to eat something, what would you suggest? The dates ? smile

You are a Cathloic, do you fast for Lint?

I would reccomend you going on a liquid fast.
Also, this site is really good on what a faster with Diabetes should consider.

Haha, there is a list of 'suggested allowable foods for diabetics' but uhh..i dont know if you could make them xD

Hey! I'm not talking about going out for a date! stare I know what are you thinking there. XD

The dates I'm talking about is a fruit. It has lots of carbohydrates and give you a enough energy to work for the rest of the day. =P Good for fasting.

As for milk, I can't remember what it can do for your stomach. Something like, helps to ease from gastric? Err... I really need to read a lot. =w=

Just don't forget to pray and niat before eating. XD

I'm nervous and excited at the same time. Yes, I did fast until sunset (with no breakfast) to repent for pork dumplings. (I'm still quite embarrased. redface ) It wasn't as bad as I thought. I was a little edgy during the last couple of hours though. 3nodding

Yes I do whenever I can...if I work sometimes I eat very lightly if I need the energy. I shall check it out. biggrin I have the opposite of diabetes, so it's rather hard to compare, my body burns food too fast and the balance of fast and food is sometimes hard.
