The Fool's Grove [4e]

And if it weren't a magical hawk it probably would have broken its neck with that impact. That door is definitely solid wood.

As the bird regains its senses it lets out a few squawks that Colbertron understands as a slurred description of a grove on the other side of the peephole. It's hard to make out, he might be concussed. Here's hoping you can magic that away.

Colbertron waves Colbertron Jr. away in his annoyance. and steps closer to peer through the peephole himself.

"Why doesn't somebody just knock on the door, other than the bird?" Fawks says with a bit of annoyance in his voice. "Maybe whatever is on the other side didn't hear us. Fawks will make sure they know we're here and want inside." Fawks beats the head of Frostbite against the palm of his hand to add punctuation to his comment.

The peephole reveals only an empty grove to Colbertron, with a few scattered trees, a pond, and a worn path leading down its center.

Letting his hand relax and his shield down, Sylvanis watched as colberton JR flew right into the door, chuckling to himself as the bird flapped right against it. "I like this guy, keeps things interesting" He takes the time to scan the door intently, from the front and circles around the behind the door, looking for anything that would help open it.

"Pushing obviously isn't working, lets study if there is any other way to open it." He also speaks in elven"open" to see if that works, and tries pushing the door from behind, wondering that if from the front, you're supposed to pull instead of push. Something as foolish as that would be a great way to keep a door from being open.

As Sylvanis circles around the door, he is treated to a view of the same grove as Colbertron was through the peephole. However, this grove is populated by nearly half a dozen creatures that look like golden armadillos with rubies imbedded in their foreheads. Two shiny pillars of a mysterious white substance also stand among the trees.

This discrepancy of appearances might be explained by the small piece of paper he sees taped over the peephole on the opposite side of the door. The only other thing different about this side is the lack of any elven script on the door, no matter how hard the half-elf peers into the wood grain.

If after either seeing the strange grove he tries to rejoin the rest of the group, he will find an invisible wall on either side of the door, perhaps by impacting it comically. Apparently you were told to keep out because this is a zoo for gaudy animals?

Sylvanis Walks past the door, looking for something in particular with the door on its backside. Everything was the same as its front save the lack of elven...and a piece of parchment cover the peephole on this side. Removing the paper, "now, what would they be covering..." Sylvanis Whispered to himself as he turned around to see golden like armadillos and two pillars of white standing not far from him.

He turns and does a quickened walk to the other side of the door, and as he alerted the group by saying, "hey guys! I foun--ugh" Grunting as he hit his face on some kind of invisible force, springing his head backwards and falling prone on his back to the ground. Like a rock hitting a still pond, a vertical, white, circular ripple sprang from where Sylvanis hit his head, extending out in all directions. "found a wall....."Sylvanis decided to finish his sentence

Watching the ripple from the ground, He got up quickly to see what was going on. He touched where he hit, and felt a force keeping him in, though he didn't feel one on the way in. That's magic for you.

The side of the paper that was facing the peephole contains a lifelike painting of the grove beyond, sans wildlife. Anyone looking through the peephole now will be treated to the same view Sylvanis has. The armadillo creatures seem to have noticed all the shouting and running into invisible walls and are now staring intently at the half-elf. Additionally, the wall is just as sound-proof as a real one, so everyone else is treated to a show of the warlord flapping his mouth, and the indistinct sound of his muffled voice.

"Stand back everyone, this door has the power to turn sane people into mimes!"

Fawks lets out a big laugh at the half elves plight then grabs hold of his maul with both hands and charges the wall full force.

Fawkes barges through the wall just as easily as Sylvanis did on his first pass. He find leaving just as difficult. The armadillo-things look frightened by the charging Goliath, cringing at his entrance, one even curling into a little golden ball.

Vanguard seemed curious about it all, and peered through the peephole like everyone else despite that he could just walk to the side and see the same thing. Then he did so, observing his allies trapped on the other side, curious. They were quiet, and couldn't get through. One way wall. That was funny, very interesting.

Vanguard couldn't smile, but after he'd simply stepped through after them he sounded rather cheery as he informed them all "We can get through this way."

A strong grasp for the obvious, and little enough shame to point it out, that one had.

Fawks turns his back to the wall and gets in a Defensive position as he waits for rest of the party to show up.

"Fawks wont hurt anyone if they don't try to hurt him." he says to the cute golden armadillos in the most diplomatic way he can.

"Well then, Nation. When life gives you lemons, make your way through an invisible wall." Colbertron walks through the wall as well.

Fawks hears a voice echo in his head as the closest of the creatures back away from the growing group of adventurers, "Then why are you waving that big hammer around?!"
