I can't think of a steampunk-aesthetic band more recognized than Abney Park.
... Eh, I think I'll just shut-up after this point. This thread is quickly becoming "No, your band isn't as unknown as you thought they were."

I can guarantee none of you have heard of Desolation Alley. I hear they were pretty amazing before the broke up. Their drummer's pretty talented, and quite the sexy beast. ninja

I'm tempted to win this thread, but that would be unfair of me.

This reminds me of the theory that the less people listen to a band, the better it is, so therefore the best band is non-existent, because no one can listen to them for them to be the best, not even themselves.
I also have to say the band name "Kiss the a**s of a black cat" or something to that effect caught me off gaurd, and made me laugh.
My contribution to this would FGFC820, a quite good political EBM band, whose top video on youtube (yes, it has a video on youtube, several, in fact, as well as 2 albums, so they aren't UNKNOWN, but no one I have talked to on the internet so far has heard of them, so you know, yeah.) has about 20K views, which isn't much for a band with, as I said in parentheses, has 2 albums out. Their other vids cap at about 2K views. So, yeah, FGFC820, the best band I know of that no one else I've spoken to ever has known about previously.

They may be known but as far as funny titles go "Satan's almighty p***s" made me laugh pretty hard.

If I mention any goth or proto goth music around here people are like "Wat?" A local club, "Pandemic" does host a goth night weekly, as does another, dingier little place, "The Wreckd room", but neither get a lot of patrons. There is however a growing Industrial scene here, thanks to Pandemic.
As for generally swept under the carpet goth acts, I'd like to mention The Shroud, The Empire Hideous, and a Local satanic horrorbilly band called The Matadors, who are starting to get some decent fame. Dudes put on a ******** great show.

Bloody Loon This reminds me of the theory that the less people listen to a band, the better it is, so therefore the best band is non-existent, because no one can listen to them for them to be the best, not even themselves. Adding to that, I always feel that people get this idea in their heads that the more "unknown" bands they listen to, the better they are.
Like "oh I listen to this band. You haven't heard of them?" /snub
Get over it. I don't see why it's such a quest to find the most unknown band. I make it my goal to find good music.
