I beat it, but I was using Nester, so I could save the game at any time.

I have done it! through the help of a gamefaqs map of the great palace and luck, i did it! I beat Zelda 2. i had to kill darklink the cheap way, because i was on my last life.
the game gives u a second quest, but you start off with full stats

it was extremely hard. i got game over approximately 37 times.
fairy spell should be in mido. look on gamefaqs.com.
you can get the awesome downthrust there.
