Socialism - "a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole".

I'm sorry but I have worked hard for my land, property and money. I've been climbing the ladder and I live pay check to pay check all the while paying thousands of dollars in taxes every year, which already go up every year. But yeah sure lets have it go up more for my tax bracket so we can give more money to people who are not working and get tax breaks and welfare because they are not working. That's not to say that everyone who is on welfare is lazy, etc, but there are those who abuse the system.

This is socialism... "an economic system that directly maximizes use-values as opposed to exchange-values and has transcended commodity production and wage labor, along with a corresponding set of social and economic relations, including the organization of economic institutions and method of resource allocation;[4] often implying a method of compensation based on individual merit, the amount of labor expended or individual contribution."

What you stated on how you worked hard for your land and whatever else has no relevance. The people who need social services are the people who usually work the hardest in society. Capitalism needs these people to stay poor so that they can continue to use them as cheap labor which in turn allows US Americans to retain their standards of living. Yes, I agree that some welfare recipients do abuse the system, but I can assure you that that is a small minority of people who do. The same way that they may abuse the system, so do the capitalists or more so, they Bourgeoisie who own the means of production. Enron is a perfect example of who corporate interests outweigh the needs of the people. Enron had connections with Bush and Bush turned a blind eye in order to allow Enron to steal money from the people living in California. Capitalism does not work for the common man. You are an example. You live pay check by pay check(like me) even though you are hard working, but you have not reaped the fruits of your labor while people exploit and obtain enormous amounts of wealth from the very system that is keeping you down.

I feel like playing devil's advocate.
firstly, true socialism (Marxism) supports the abolition of personal property, and working for things as a community, not necessarily giving everyone equal money.
second, you think you worked hard for your money? Tell me, are you a laborer? They get payed extremely low, sometimes even minimum wage, to bend their backs all day long.
third, I think you're being very selfish complaining about your taxes. The reason you get taxed higher is because you can afford it. Do you think someone living of $100 a week can afford a 50% tax rate? I didn't think so.
Edit: complaining about people who "bum" off welfare is pretty selfish too. Welfare is about the lowest income you can get, most of those people are living extremely uncomfortable lives. And quite a few of them are actually looking for a job, although not all of them.

Saphirno
Personally, I believe he is spineless because of his "alliance" with dictators such as Venezuela's Hugo Chavez.
