I swear by OpenCanvas 4.5...I just love it~ I also have Corel Painter X and it's great, but doesn't like my computer for whatever reason. I used to use a Wacom Graphire 3 but it sorta died on me :{ So now I have a Gateway C-140x with a Wacom screen. It's my baby, and I love it, but the computer itself is temperamental.
I really would like to get photoshop one day, but I feel like I'd have to bury myself in tutorials to make any sense of it xD
What's this SAI I keep hearing about?

Buu-dai
What's this SAI I keep hearing about?
A quite "new" program which is kinda like painter. You can easily draw with it since the lines go smooth and you can mix up colors easily. Just google for paint tool SAI smile

IMO I think SAI is the best programme ever. @_@ It's like an upgraded version of Opencanvas.
I was dedicated to OC for like 2yrs+ and I switched to SAI a few months ago, and I just think it's amazing. Everything is lovely. I just wish there were more tools on SAI like gradient or 'stroke' tools; a bit more of the basics. I have to keep switching between SAI and Adobe Photoshop to get the effect I want.
I think Adobe Photoshop is potentially the worst programme to produce a drawing on. I think the brushes can be a lot more stiff than SAI or OC. If you've scanned an image and use Photoshop there on in, I think it's probably better.
Then again, I only really do my dinky chibis, so a cute little programme like SAI is perfect and so I have limited knowledge on how to paint on CS. <3

INDEED. SAI IS AWESOME.
However, since I began CGing on MSpaint, I plan on dying using MSpaint. xD I'm also too dumb to figure out Corel, or PS. Alternately, I use paint.NET when I need to make use of layers... Since my SAI is bootleg and won't save layers :C
... oh I have a cheapie Hanvon tablet 8x10. IT IS ONE OF MY FEW LUXURIES. When I do traditional art, I prefer crayons/anything that won't get my hands messy.

Traditional: Pencil, and paper. TADA. I'm cheap. rofl
Digital: Wacom tablet w/photoshop 7.0. Sometimes I use MS Paint for fun or facebook grafitti for one layer art. lol
I think photoshop is okay, even though I have been hearing that a lot of people ADORE the darn thing. D: My strokes aren't even that thin and it's seriously chunky. I hate it. D; I always have to erase my lines continuously to get it decently thin enough. Dx

[ » . . . (. '-')./* ]I draw almost everything on photoshop elements 3.O with my 4x5 graphire4 tablet~ <3 I occasionally use photoshop 6 for a few effects, though, especially for my graphics work. ;3
I need to start using other mediums, though. ; O;

i draw a lot with pencils but i always forget to scan them so most of my art here is digital. I own a tablet for my laptop but i feel more comfortable using a mouse on a desktop. Depending on what computer i'm using it goes from Photoshop CS3 extended to Photoshop version 7.

Wacom Intuos 3 6x8 Photoshop Corel Painter X Testing out SAI
I love corel because the color scale is much easier to understand than the generic square color selection. Also, the blending tool is AMMAAAZINNNNGGGGG.
Photoshop is good for rearranging, resizing etc. Pretty much anything that has to do with special effects and graphic design. Sure you can do anything on photoshop, but some things come easier on other programs.
Sai... well it's got a nice clean line so that's prolly why everyone uses it. I would think it would be better for cell shading than anything. I haven't tried anything really on it so, I can't really say.
When I draw on paper, I actually prefer a mechanical pencil over sketching pencils.

I've been using Photoshop CS2 with a wacom tablet for the last two years so that's what I'm most familiar with.
I tried out OC with the free trial but I couldn't really get used to it P:
I'm starting to use SAI a lot more recently though dramallama Everyone says it's amazing for lineart, and it is, but somehow I still prefer photoshop? rofl /kicked
I still use photoshop for textures/final touchups. And gonna try CS3 soon 8'D lol I get all my programs from the school design class /even though I'm not in it rofl /shot

Digital Open Canvas 1.1 Mouse Art Weaver for resizing
I have a freaking expensive tablet but somehow I find that using a mouse is easier. Rofl..Dx Wasted money....I need to practice more in the summer.
