8D;; I think the times when I have trouble with a picture aren't necessarily because it's a commissioned one... I think it's more my inability to come up with something interesting or a lack of motivation on my part u_u;; I get the same thing for personal art though...

I have to confess that sometimes I like commissions because they require less thought/choice on my part >3>;;

I have the exact opposite problem! I can't draw for myself! gonk It's horrible! I have so many things I want to draw, but everything I try to draw for myself looks like utter crap and I get frustrated very easily. You wouldn't even know the same person drew it compared to what I can do for other people.

Given the choice, I would MUCH rather have trouble drawing for other people. At least then I'd have pictures of things I want.

There are a lot of variables for me. Sometimes I draw really freaking well, I could draw a garbage heap and it would look FANTASTIC, and other times I can't even draw a chibi. It's sad.

Sometimes I go into a drawing expecting it to come out like crap, and it does the exact opposite. I end up doing wayyyyyyy too much. Infact, the Guild Wars Wintersday Entry:

I wanted that image originally to look like watercolor and to be literally, just two quick ANIME sketches. That isn't even close to anime, and it was no where near to quick, that sucker took me 2 weeks!

I always seem to do more than I actually want. That's not always good, if anything it's BAD because it makes me go into overtime and then I get lazy and just stop working on it.

Because I always want to draw something good for commissions or friends I end up not doing as good as I wanted to
I guess its inspiration or just because I try too hard? I don't really know but it sucks >.<

I'll just say yes definately.

Itry drawing for my b/f and it usually doesn't come out so great but sometimes it does...but sometimes he nitpicks. He used to though, but now he seems to enjoy what i draw for him. ^^

Usually when i draw for me it comes out because i'm the one creating it. When you draw for someone else they're not there to make the slightest adjustments so that it suits their liking so thats why it's so difficult.

I need motivation. If you're nice to me or have given me art that motivates me to surprise you with art cuz you wouldn't be expecting it. Also if i am unable to fullfil my urge to give art because 1. its not comeing out right 2. lack of free time &motivation 3. programs crap out on me; then i'm the only one who knows and the receiver would not be let down because they wouldn't know.

actually I get frustated almost everyday XD
the issue is that I have this awesome AWESOME idea, with all the color ...the poses, the whole composition and then D:
gonk yeah! can`t take it complete from my head to the paper or with the tablet. VERY frustaiting of course, more over is like "my I really suck!!! ;^;"

I get that way when it's time to colour. Either for myself or my commissioner.

If I'm drawing something for someone who I personally think draws better than I do, then it'll come out like s**t. I think it's because it messes with my confidence and such. If I'm drawing for someone who has no talent in drawing whatsoever, I can whip out something so amazing.
I believe it's all psychological. And it's so annoying :C

arrow yeah I do tend to get that when I force myself to draw while not having inspiration at all..... or if the character the person made me draw doesn't suit my tastes. lol

But yeah- the "not feeling it" problem is why I have so many WIPs :
Cause once I get to the point where I'm not motivated any more, it's just scribbles and the mental eye thing just shuts off.

That's what often happens to me when I draw for someone I like a lot...I really want to impress them. Lot of pressure can make art fail.

Personally, I do best if it's for myself or for someone else as a gift/trade
rather than a commission. For me - it's obvious, I have more motivation
to make it look good. And for gifts/art trades, I'm getting <3 or artsu in
return. And those are great motivation for me to do well, too. o w o
