Genevieve turned around, feeling a little surprised as a voice spoke to her, sounding a bit nervous, even scared. What surprised her even more was this girl sensed they were similar somehow. Now exactly how, Genevieve couldn't say. It was rather depressing and even frustrating not being able to know what she meant by 'they were similar somehow'. Genevieve just wasn't as powerful as she used to be though that was no surprise. After her title as the angel of death was taken away from her they wouldn't just let her keep all the neat little things one could do with such a title. Unfortunately for Genevieve, they weren't that stupid.

As she spoke her voice sounded a lot like a whisper and almost seemed to send shivers down your back. "Similar? I'm an angel...or used to be one, if that's what you wanted to know... What do you mean by similar?" Possibly, along with her sight, they also took away her ability to see much more than just concrete things. Ever since that day, Genevieve had found it hard to work out what others might be thinking and even what they meant in situations such as this. It had just become more difficult for her to understand things, something that often got in the way of doing everyday things.

"An Angel? Did you...used to be an angel...of death?"
It was the only connection that the two could have had that could have gave her this feeling. It was as if the energies inside her and in the pendant recognized this, and that's why she felt so strange.

"My name is Tessa. A few years ago, this man came to me and said that I was an avatar of a death god, and that I would bring pain and death to all those around me. I...didn't believe him at the time, but soon after, my powers awakened, and everyone I knew was dead. I...should have just let him kill me then, but I thought he was just some maniac serial killer or something..."
Remembering back to this time was a painful thing for Tessa. If only she would have trusted this man and let him kill her...but who in their right mind would trust some old guy who kidnapped you and said you had to die because you were an avatar of death? Anyone would have just thought he was some psycho. But it was her one chance at saving all of her family and friends, and she had let it pass, all because she was too attached to her own life to even consider what he was saying. Tessa knew, in hindsight, it was the wrong decision, but at the time, nobody would have just sat back and died...

"I've been traveling around, trying to find some way to get rid of my powers, but then I learned that they were a part of my very soul, and the only way to lose them would be to die. But my powers, they keep me alive no matter what happens...And just now, my powers almost went out of control. I'm running out of time before something really bad happens."
Genevieve may not have seen the desperation in Tessa's eyes, but she could easily hear it in her voice. Tessa sounded scared, like a person running out of options and time.
"Please, if you know of some way to kill me...before I hurt anyone else with my accursed powers! Please end my pain...end my suffering..."

Genevieve's head snapped up at the girl's first question if she used to be an angel of death. "Yes, actually." For a moment she considered questioning her how she knew that but didn't as the girl started speaking again, this time telling Genevieve the situation she was in.

"Even if you were to die, your powers wouldn't just disapear, neither would you for that matter. There's a place where everything ends up sooner or later and eventually everything is brought back together again. Killing yourself will separate you from your powers, but it's not necessarily the only way to do it, nor the smartest way." If Genevieve still had her title, if this girl was so desperate for someone to kill her Genevieve could do that instantly. The only problem was she didn't have her powers anymore. Besides, just killing someone because they wanted her to would be abusing her powers, and that was one of the things that got Genevieve into trouble in the first place.

"Unfortunately I'm not as powerful as I used to be so I'm completely useless to you. Right now the only things I can suggest are either keep trying to find someone strong enough to kill you...or you can always give your powers away to someone else....though I don't know how to do that so once again I can't help you there." Genevieve had heard of how you could give something away, very similar to how they took her title as the angel of death away from her, but she had never figured out how it was done. Nevertheless, it was still possible though, even though all of the details were still unclear to her.

A small spark of curiosity arose in her as she asked the girl a question. "Just to ask, what exactly can these powers of your do? Are they really that horrible and destructive?"

Tessa thought this was finally it; that it would finally be over. Unfortunately, it seemed fate just loved to tease her. Tessa leaned back against the door to her, giving a long, disappointed sigh as she slid down until she was now sitting against the door.

"I should have figured it wouldn't be this easy...nothing has been since my powers awakened...except killing people."
Tessa leaned her head up against the door, looking hopelessly up to the ceiling. The same hopelessness reflected in her eyes was also reflected in her voice, letting Genevieve be aware of it as well.

"At first, things just seemed to die around me. I once turned a beautiful field of flowers into a wasteland just by standing in its center. Then, people would die after being around me for long enough. My family, my friends, my boyfriend, all of them just dropped dead, one by one. Their bodies were fine, but I had subconsciously absorbed their souls. Then, I could rip people's souls out of their bodies and absorb them to make myself stronger. And I seem not to be able to die, no matter what I try, I always just wake back up where I was. But lately, my powers have increased significantly. It horribly disfigured everything in my room, and if I didn't stop it in time, probably would have killed everyone in this hotel, if not the whole city. I had to trap part of my soul in this pendant, but I don't know how long it will hold."
Tessa lowered her head, tears forming in her eyes.
"I never wanted to be anything special, I never even wanted to go to college or anything. I just wanted to be normal. Why did all of this have to happen to me?"

"That wouldn't be too much of a problem for me...I don't have a soul." That was true. Even though Genevieve was only a fallen angel and not nearly as powerful as she once was she still didn't have any soul and therefore it was impossible for her to die. It sounded great when you heard it like that but it wasn't perfect. Not eventually dying like everything else did sooner or later forced you to do nothing but wander around and stop you from ever being at peace. Besides, just because you were unable to die didn't mean you couldn't feel pain and grief, something Genevieve had learned the hard way quite a while ago.

To the girl's last statement, Genevieve just shrugged. "Sometimes things just happen to people. You'll get rid of your powers eventually though." She said that in one, clear sentence without a single hint that she was lying or just trying to make the girl feel better, as if she was completely confident that it was true. It was, though; Genevieve knew that as an honest fact. No matter how hard you tried, nothing could stay together forever and eventually everthing would end...all you really had to do was wait a while...possibly a few billion years? Maybe trillions? No, much more than that depending upon how fate decided to treat you... That probably wouldn't do much to make this girl feel any better though so Genevieve had enough sense not to tell her that.

"Even if I do lose my powers eventually, right now I'm a danger to the entire world. I don't want to hurt people, but my whole existence does...I don't know what will happen if I have to go through that again. Being responsible for the deaths of all those people...I don't know if I could take that."
Sitting down against the door with her head down and her raven hair covering her eyes, seeming as if she had cried so much in life that she had run out of tears, Tessa was truly a sad sight. A pretty young girl that wished for nothing else than her own death, which was the only thing she could not obtain. She was at her wit's end, and the strain on her from killing more people would most likely make her snap, and then she would be a true monster.

"...What should I do now? Continue wandering around aimlessly, trying to find something to kill me? Or just sit here until I go out of control and kill everyone? What other options do I have..."
Tessa was speaking more to herself than anyone else, completely lost as to what her next move would be. Part of her just wanted to give up and deal with the fact that she was an evil monster.

Tessa lifted her head, looking back to Genevieve. Tessa knew that this wasn't her problem, but she had been kind enough to help as much as she could, and stay and listen to her complain.
"Um...I'm sorry I've been keeping you here, you probably have more important things to deal with than me. Heh, I don't even know your name...but, thank you for everything you told me."

I lost my notebook

Argent quietly walked down the hallway of the east wing, his raven-like gaze occasionally landing upon the rooms of others with only the mildest of interest. "What a bleak looking place this seems to be. It quite fits me, I should say," he thought aloud, searching for the room to which his key belonged, silently cursing the lazy worker who had thrown it at him. For a moment, he debated going back and making her taste his steel, but decided that it would probably only get him in trouble, and then force him to bring her back. Such a bother it would be. No, he would content himself with simply finding his room, and resting there for a time.

Finally, after almost half an hour of searching the impossibly long hallway, having to walk its entire length twice, he found his room. Not bothering to even think any more thoughts about the poor service the young woman had given him, too busy being thankful for finally having located the room, he turned the key and entered. It was just as beautifully gloomy as the rest of this wing seemed to be and it did, indeed, suit him quite well.

"There's still hope..." That was all Genevieve said, though that was all she really could think of to say. Nevertheless, it wasn't just one of those thoughtful, kind words someone might say to cheer someone else up or make them feel better. No matter what might happen in the future, everything would always work out fairly in the end; fate was just weird that way. All you had to do was be patient and wait for it to happen. Unfortunately, patience was a trait Genevieve just didn't possess and if you knew what had happened in the past, perhaps you would understand why she was so desperate for that day to come so quickly.

The hotel was awfully nice though, very well-organized and decorative, though of course it had taken Genevieve a while to actually know what it was like since she couldn't actually see it.

Genevieve shrugged and smiled as the girl offered a small apology for keeping her talking for so long. She turned away. "Don't worry about keeping me here, it's not like I have to go anywhere anyway...I don't even know where I would go. I just got here today." She walked away down the hall, stopping for a second. "Oh, and my name's Genevieve." Not that it was anything important but the girl had practically asked for her name and it would be rude to just walk away without a proper introduction first.

Now all she needed was to find something to do. There must have been at least something of interest in a hotel this large and she decided to go find something...just as soon as she was done exploring the east wing.

"I can't take the pain in my heart anymore..."

Tessa didn't say a thing as she watched Genevieve walk away. However, the whole time, she felt like laughing out loud.
Hope? Ha, what's the point of hope? All it does is lead to disappointment. No amount of hope ever helped me...
Tessa looked back towards the door to her room; she just wanted to go to sleep, but that place scared her now, the most scary thing being the fact that it appeared as it did because of her. She had to go somewhere and do something, sitting here wasn't helping.

"I...I have to find someone who can kill me...this hotel...seems to have attracted quite a few odd people. Maybe one of them..."
Even though Tessa was almost sure that the answer lied with someone in this hotel, she knew anyone she asked would probably be reluctant to just kill her just because she asked them to. Tessa started to realize that she would have to force someone into it.
"If...If I were to attack someone...maybe...they'd have to kill me in self defense...yeah...that's what I have to do...I just have to...attack people..."

Tessa stood up slowly, using the energy she had left to create her huge blade. She needed to go where there were a lot of people, so her first stop would be the city...

Genevieve turned around as she heard a small hello from behind her (Wendy). It didn't seem like she was talking to anyone in particular since no one else was in the hallway. "Hello...do you need something?"

Maybe she was just waiting for someone, Genevieve thought. She didn't want to stay here for too long though; she still had so many other things she wanted to look at in this hotel. If she was going to be staying here she at least might as well get used to the place.

"No need to be shy about it." Genevieve looked down the empty hallway, dimly-lighted and had a gloomy appearance to it. Though she was blind, Genevieve couldn't hear anyone nearby. "I don't think there's anyone else here besides us, either that or they're all in their rooms."

The girl seemed nervous for a second and it made Genevieve wonder if she was surprised and even a little scared to see Genevieve, someone who looked like some, demented, messed-up version of an angel. Of course that was the reaction she usually got from people so it was no surprise if the girl felt that way.

"The best thing I can suggest if you want some company is to try and go somewhere else in the hotel." Genevieve turned away and continued walking. She had finished checking over the east wing and planned to go somewhere else.
