I was thinking about it and I figure that people may see pictures in magazines and such where the models are holding plushies. While the reason the models are holding the dolls or stuffed animals is only for the photoshoot, the people who see these images misinterpret this as something they should do on a daily basis.
If a model was posing with a live animal (say an elephant) then people would know this is just for the artistic photoshoot, and wouldn't attempt to imitate it. Likewise, people should realize the plushies are there as props in the photo, not as part of the functional outfit.

Hope that made at least a bit of sense sweatdrop

That kinda thing only really works if it's SWEET Lolita. 3nodding

Honestly, it really doesn't. Not without looking like ageplay, and even then if it was just a plushie and not a bag, it gets tiring carrying the thing around.

Never again will I carry my stuffed bunny for the Easter Parade.

I have plush bags, purses and sometimes lug around stuffed animals- in lolita or in other clothes.
Regardless of what I wear I'll be branded, so why not just wear what I like?
I think they're cute, therefore I wear/carry them.

I don't worry much about what my boss/coworkers thinks because I don't wear my fun clothes to work
& I have yet to spot a coworker (that doesn't know any of my hobbies) while I'm out dressed up lol.

It only looks good with Sweet IMO, or a more childish gothic.

I find it makes outfits look like costumes when people tote around certain things.
A bunny bag? Yes.
A big bunny plushie? No.

i personally love having a plush. My favorite plush would have to be gloomy which maybe you should try. In DC we have a japanese store and i bought a plush gloomy, im 14 now but was 13 at the time. While i walked by hugging my gloomy i just got a lot of smiles from people of all ages and it really made me feel happy 3nodding (do note mine had no blood ^^ wink http://www.toyqube.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/Gloomy_Plush_Pink.jpg

I think alot of it depends on the size of the plushie and the practicality of it. I have a punk loli in early stages of production which I intend to wear a terrified plush chained to my belt as part of the ensemble.
What one must remember is that this isn't a costume, but it is outlandish clothing. If you would have difficulty going through your daily routine in it, it probably isn't a good idea. Decorating with and collecting plushies are very appropriate for lolita, in my view; but carrying them to work might prove impractical.

As always, all I have to offer is my own opinion.

I guess it would depend on if the person wants to carry around a plushie or not. If they want to, they can carry around the plushie and still look lolita-ish.

There are alot of different things you could do. It mostly depends on the style of lolita you are. If you are sweet lolita you most likely will like to carry around a teddy bear or a plush rabbit. If your a gothic one you probably will like something more with a dark undertone. You could even dress the bear up in an outfit too. I love the skelanimal plushie idea by the way. Grr is also cute and sort of sadistic in a way. If you look like an injured lolita(if forget the exact term sorry) you could make the bear or whatever else it is injured looking as well. There are alot of options if you like a particular style though you should probably stick with your instincts and try and be creative. You can always use a lacy purse done in beads and all the trimmings if you dont want too much of a little girl look. Then again you could use a lolly pop prop and look as though you want to join Shirley Temple. Umbrellas could be used(she avi if i still have it on there). I also like to dress my dog up and go around with her in my arms of a purse or basket. Shes a chipom so shes tiny enough to do such things. Anyways Good luck.

I honestly see nothing wrong with carrying around an adorable plush when the fancy strikes (I am biased though....I am one of those people who has plushie backpacks when I'm in business attire). I say it depends on how you carry yourself. If your wearing classic lolita and are carrying around a pink fluffy teddybear the size of yourself, needless to say it would be a little silly. But I think it wouldn't be inappropriate to carry say, one of those old time teddy bears that you find in antique stores. But I also don't disagree that it is very easy to cross that line from looking cute with your plush and looking like a age play fanatic. Along the lines of versatile plush purses, backpacks, I think they look fantastic (of course razz ) I happen to have a fruit bat back pack (a bat pack?) that would perhaps go with a more gothic style, and a purple unicorn that would look sweet with a sweet style. Like I said, if your not acting like a little girl, it will help deter away from the costume idea and help others perceive it as just another accessory to your fabulous coordinate.

It reminds me of the original "fashion dolls" of the seventeen hundreds. A seamstress would make a miniature version of the popular style and put it on display, as an advertisement for what she could make her full-sized customers. As can be expected, it was not unusual for these dolls to find themselves in the hands of little girls when the fashion changed.

Well, as I remember some brands even do something close to that, offering or showing dresses for dolls to attract the doll owners to get the same dress for themself too. But I that ends up way to expensive for my taste.
